Poem 1- Loneliness

Loneliness is something that's often pushed off

They say you wouldn't understand what loneliness is like because you're too young

You have so many people with you on this journey…how dare you claim to be lonely?

How dare you claim to be sadden by said loneliness?

Are you joking? Are you ungrateful? Are you overreacting?

When in reality loneliness doesn't start or stop at a certain age

In transforms from a sudden point in your life where you stopped feelings apart of something and started feeling away from people

You can say that loneliness feels so empty but you try to make it seem full

You don't enjoy sitting in your dark room all day by yourself

Admit it. You do want to go see others and speak to others

But you can't. Your mind won't allow it.

Your body is against it.

And your ears are closed off.

You're stuck in a small bubble that most carry to pop only for you to blow up on them

You get angry so quickly because you don't know how to react

You can't comprehend what's happenings because you daydream as they speak

You don't put in your opinion because you know it'll go unheard

If you truly are lonely you understand that it hurts so much to see people your age living your dream life

While you sit in your dark room pretending to love the silence

But…

In a sense you do love the silence

It calms you and entertains you

Making you feel like you are in a state of relaxation

Your minds at ease and your body is light

And when you're in a state of peace some people mistaken it for loneliness

But in reality you only feel lonely when you're around others

And when you're only you feel included
