The New King is a Demon

People were busy chatting around, passing comments after comments.

They thought the King must have gone insane when news went around saying that he will still crown the Third Prince to be the next King of Koryo in the upcoming ceremony.

No one in the kingdom felt that the Third Prince deserves to be the next King with his bad reputation of literally killing anyone who displeases him.

They felt that it was only right to make the Crown Prince the next King instead. Unlike the Third Prince, the Crown Prince is gentle and warm-hearted.

He helps the poor a lot and basically contributed the most to the upbringing of the kingdom to what it is today.

But because of his sickly body and the 'curse' that had seemingly befallen him, the King decided that it was a better choice to crown the demonly Third Prince and not his other nine sons that were more humane.

They can't deny that none of the nine Princes were as perfect as the Crown prince but they were a thousand times better to be their next King than the Third Prince.

They at least have a heart and wouldn't slaughter them for a small mistake and then gave their remains to their family while being in pieces.

That horrifying incident that happens to the Jung family still remains clear in all of their minds.

How the body of their beloved child and daughter was given to them in pieces when the only crime she did was baking him a bag of cookies that happens to be tasteless.

It was such a great shock to them that they hang themselves to death the very same day. Everyone feels that the Third Prince was being unreasonable and heartless for that.

It was such a petty mistake but he had to go so far as to kill that poor lady.

"Your Highness... Are you sure you still want to walk around and accompany me? I think it's better if you get back first. I just need to get a hairpin left. It won't take me long."

Lee Yuna told the man beside him as he shook his head and smile sweetly towards her.

He then quietly took her hand in his and gently entwined their fingers together before proceeding to continue their journey, hand in hand.

Many might not believe her if she were to say that the infamous Third Prince is actually a really sweet and romantic guy.

He may not look like it but he pampers her endlessly even though she knows that she doesn't deserve it.

Yes, they were married and yes, their marriage was purely based on the Third Prince's choice. Even so, she knows that a low-born like her doesn't deserve all this luxury that her husband keeps giving her.

Because while she is living a luxurious life, a lot of people are suffering from hunger and poverty.

She just can't move on from the fact that she can't do anything for all these people who need all the help and resources that they can get.

Another reason as to why she feels that she doesn't deserve the Third Prince is because she knows that she is one of the biggest factors that is pulling him back from being the next King of Koryo.

The public may disagree with him being King because he is merciless and cruel but the governers and definitely the King likes him.

Though he might be scary, he certainly knows how to handle tough situations and get them done.

He may not look like it but he was more skillful and smart than the Crown Prince, making him the suitable candidate to be the next King.

But the only reason that makes him less favored by some of the governers is because of Lee Yuna.

Everyone knows that if he were to be the next King, Yuna would definitely be crowned Queen. But how can a low life like her be suitable for such a high and prestigious title?

Because of that, they have persuaded him to marry another, preferably someone from a high-ranking family.

But each time they suggested it to him, the very next day, a dead body was found inside the palace.

Through this, the governors know that he was actually giving them a warning so as to not cross the line and bring up that topic ever again.

With that, they had to stop persuading him but instead they pressure the King instead since they know he can make the Third Prince at least consider their suggestion.

But the King knew his son better and he definitely knows the reason as to why his son was so attached to Yuna.

So knowing that his son wouldn't change his mind and the governors will definitely continue to endlessly bring out that topic each and every day, the King had decided to propose a tempting but appalling offer to the governors.

"Since all of you wants him to get a new wife so badly, I make this offer to you all that are present here in this room."

"Every week, one of you is allowed to send one of your daughters to spend the night with the Third Prince. If she manages to see the light of dawn, I will make her his first wife and the next Queen. Now then, the order will be decided with a draw. I wish you all the best of luck."

Sure enough, just as the King had suspected, each and everyone that was present there begged him to retract his offer, knowing fully well that if he didn't, they all were going to lose their daughters.

Just as much as they wanted the Third Prince to get a new wife, the King realized that none of them had actually offered their daughters as candidates.

Because even though the end result would be beneficial for them, they knew fully well that it wouldn't come to fruition.
