Suddenly, Zayd saw Mr Kaiju's hand snap forward with unprecedented power. Mr Kaiju was flat-footed.
*BANG*
Zayd felt the punch coming, and he attempted to react, but his hands were low, and the fist curved towards his head that was out in the open.
In all things, the legs that are touching the ground is the origin of power. When you are on your toes, you can exhibit superior agility to flat-footed fighters. However, there is a cost: less power. Your legs cannot generate as much force due to not applying as much force to the ground. As such, the inverse of force does not have as great of an effect. Your punches lack that force that is necessary for a knockout.
As they have greater agility, being on your toes is suited for counter-fighting. Imagine that your opponent throws a punch, you slip to the side of their fist, letting it scrape the air. As their arm remains extended and their guard is down, you let your counter punch punish their chin with ferocity.
Flat-footed fighters are superior in power and stamina. Like a rock, they're steady. Their ability to damage you is greater, and the threat is vastly different to that of a counter-puncher. One punch could end the fight from both types, however. So underestimating an opponent is never a good habit.
Zayd's decision to take a hit wasn't going well. Knowing that Mr Kaiju was going easy on him did not make the situation any better. He felt dizzy, and his legs felt like they carried the weight of the world. Zayd grit his teeth, and he kept his hands up.
Feinting with his left, he threw his right hand.
'Let's see what we can do.'
Again, he repeated his actions.
'Now!'
As he feinted with his left for the third time, he feinted with his right, and his left hand smashed forwards towards Mr Kaiju. Finally, it impacted.
Zayd felt his legs give out underneath him, and he sat breathing heavily.
"Very good." Mr Kaiju mumbled under his breath before giving a hum of praise.
"Alright, you take a break. We will continue on the pads."
Zayd nodded in agreement as he felt his energy coming back to him.
Within a minute, Zayd was back on his feet.
"Stand in what you think is a boxing stance." Mr Kaiju said.
Zayd thought for a second as he put his left leg forward. Whilst his left foot was at an angle of 80 degrees. His right foot was back at an angle of approximately 45 degrees.
Bringing his hands up, he placed them in front of his face.
"Meh... whatever. Watch me." Mr Kaiju said as his left hand flew out once more. It 'snapped' out, and it returned rapidly to its original place. He walked to the bag, removed a pad from his left hand. Hitting the bag hard once more, it swung from the tyrannical force.
*DUFF*
"This punch is your jab. You use your jab to test the waters, per se. Your opponent will have their guard up, and then you throw a jab at their body. Bam! Next time you jab, you look at their face as though you want to punch it. Instead, you go down again."
"Jab." Putting the pad up, Zayd punched it.
"You have speed. Use it. Make sure you don't lose power."
*BAP*
"There we go. Alright. Your jab is only just the starting punch in a combo, that may or may not be the case sometimes, and it's up to you to decide on that. You throw your jab, and then you throw a right hand. When you throw the right hand, I want you to twist your back foot like this."
Demonstrating once more on the heavy bag, Zayd observed Mr Kaiju with focus.
Mr Kaiju's left hand went forward, with his right hand following behind.
*DUFF*DUFF*
The consecutive blows sent the heavy bag into swing once more.
"Alright, your jab is a One, and your right is a Two." Mr Kaiju said as he placed the pads back onto his hands.
"One, Two." Pads out, Zayd reacted with haste.
*BAP* *BAP*
"When you're boxing, you aren't standing still, so use your legs. Move back with your right. Move forward with your left. Don't let your feet move out of position!"
"One, Two."
*BAP* *BAP*
"I'm going to stop saying it now."
*BAP* *BAP*
"Or sometimes, you break it up! You throw your jab, wait, throw your right hand, you know? This is the simplest combo. You throw your One."
*BAP*
"Your opponent tries to counter, and you punch over the counter, Two!"
*BAP*
"Maybe we don't want to do One, Two... We like counting backwards! Two, One!"
*BAP* *BAP*
"Good. You use that when you want to mess with your opponent's rhythm. Okay, back to the movement, use your legs! To the left! Right! Back! One, Two!"
*BAP* *BAP*
"You can throw your one whenever you want. You move left, One!"
*BAP*
"You move forward, One!"
*BAP*
"You move back, One, Two!"
*BAP* *BAP*
"I'm going to teach you another punch. I know we're going kind of fast, but you seem to be picking it up just as well."
Walking over to the bag, Mr Kaiju once more removed the pads.
"I'm going to do what's called a hook. Watch closely."
*DUFF*
Mr Kaiju was more side on as his right hand swung forth to strike the bag on the side.
"You see why it's called a hook? The hook is not straight like your One or Two. When you throw it, do it quickly, or else it's easy to dodge. What you want to do is mix your hook into a combo. One, Two, Left Hook!"
*DUFF* *DUFF* *DUFF*
"Alright, once more." Putting the pads on once more, Mr Kaiju seemed to be filled with everlasting vigour as he had not shown a single hint of perspiration. The man stayed true to his name. He was a monster of a man.
