He played with his wrist bracelet and opened it. The invitation to that academy appeared in his hand next, while feeling conflicted about it.
"You know… I thought I had no worth at all so I never considered going there," he softly said, "and now when I'm having more power than before, I don't want to put a single step in that place."
"I… doubt that," he crushed the paper back inside his bracelet before taking out his old image once again. "As I have power now, and in case I decide to leave this place then I will only do that for revenge."
The scenes of his past flashed slowly in his mind. The screams of pain he heard from his two brothers before they fell on the hands of monsters rang in his ears freshly as they just happened yesterday.
And that irritating smile that netvor gave to the three of them when they told him about their refusal was vivid in front of his very eyes.
"Everyone has flaws, right?" Aroon took a deep breath before storing the image away, "plus who said I will go out of here? It's best for me to stay in this area, defend helpless people here and give them some hope."
The words he heard from Arora left some impression inside his soul. He didn't imagine himself to act as a superhero one day. He simply wasn't the type to be one before.
However with all these changes happening to his life right now he found this somehow quite appealing.
"A superhero… One who gets the applause of everyone and gets the girl."
"What cause?"
Aroon paused for a moment before he returned to examine his system interface.
"Humans have many netvors out there to defend them. But down here, all the fallens like me are tossed to the side like any street trash."
His bitter tone made the system halt from saying anymore.
"What's about these skills?" he asked.
"The next one?"
"I can't wait for that," he said as he imagined himself climbing all the way up to the legendary ranks.
"This ability looks good, but I'll need something stronger than this," Aroon pointed to the abilities tab, "what will my fated ability be? Wait, will it be like before?"
He and his twin brothers had a normal ability before, the super speed ability. It was a common ability in the netvors, just like the absolute strength and the impregnable defense.
However, considering the low rank of the three brothers back then their ability was considered… mediocre.
Even Cheryl was considered a mediocre in the current team of fallens by her speed ability.
After all, what could speed do alone in the face of monsters?
"Whoa!" Aroon couldn't help but shout in joy. He even sat on the bed as he added, "you are a really nice system, y'know?"
Aroon knew his system was joking and didn't take his words to heart. "What are those special missions?" he pointed to the next tab that he knew nothing about.
"That sounds hard," he paused for a moment, "wait a second… Does that mean the next mission is a special one?"
"How generous of you," Aroon laid his body again on the bed, "but these special missions look so hard to accomplish."
"Cool," Aroon checked the tabs again, "what is this library tag?"
"I know it's a library, but for what?"
"You want to turn me… into some sort of a scientist or what?" Aroon felt strange when he thought about it. He didn't have a thing for studying, and he didn't consider himself a genius to begin with.
"Alright old man," Aroon teased the system, "What are the big achievements all about?"
"Impressive, I'm now having my own hall of fame," Aroon sneered, "but wait… no one will ever know about it except… me!"
"And you won't tell me its significance I suppose, right?"
"Stingy old man," Aroon said before extending his body on the bed. "I'll rest now. Please wake me at seven A.M."
"Don't be a harsh old man," Aroon smiled without moving a muscle off his bed, "it's not good for your health."
Aroon kept his smile before sleeping fast. For him this all started with his life on the stake yesterday and ended up by changing his entire life upside down.
It was the first step in a legendary journey that will impact the lives of every single human living in this world.
