Meeting A Stranger

It wasn't the first time for Aroon to take a short break. In fact he kept tracking how long his stamina could hold and he was surprised to know it could only last for half an hour.

He also tracked how long he needed to rest to refresh it, and it was around ten minutes.

"Ten minutes won't make a big difference then," Aroon muttered before heading towards a nearby hill. "This will provide me with a better view. Where is the dungeon?"

He reached the top of the hill in no time. There he could have a panoramic view of the town and the area around.

The town was similar to the one he used to live in, filled with different kinds of buildings, mostly covered with shining layers that reflected the rays of the sun and shone brightly from far like little stars in a dark night.

"Never mind, I spotted it," as he reached there he saw in the northern west of the town a far away cave and a large number of monsters running and roaring towards the town.

Like zombies craving for human meat, these monsters were attracted to the town and nothing else.

"By the way why do the monsters always hunt the towns and cities?" he asked, "not a single time I saw monsters randomly wandering all over the place."

the system said,

"So they want to eat us after all," Aroon muttered.

the system is corrected.

"For what? Invasion?" Aroon asked questions he never had the chance to ask before when he had a system.

the system vaguely answered, and Aroon didn't pursue it despite having tons of questions inside.

What he spotted in the far distance attracted his attention. "Isn't that… a mecha?" he asked in surprise and doubt.

"What does one do here?" he asked, "or my presence attracted more mechas to this area?"

"Oh man, that mecha is going all alone to face the monsters," Aroon noticed the way that mecha was behaving and the direction it was heading towards. "Damn, it's going towards the dungeon. It's trying to clear it the old way."

"But going inside alone in a mecha is another form of suicide," Aroon hesitated before making up his mind. "Screw it, I'll go and help him."

"With that mecha around, I will have less work to do… I hope," he started to run off the hill while adding, "activate the netvor."

"What?" Aroon couldn't help but smile, "This is a world recognized word y'know."

The next moment Aroon felt a sudden gush of power that transformed his body. This time his netvor turned directly into the same form of mecha he last had.

"This pathetic shell again," he complained while running fast towards the dungeon and the monsters' direction. "I hope I won't be too late."

"Right old man," Jim closed his eyes for a moment, took a deep breath before a long sword showed up.

This time it was a sword formed entirely of pure silver white energy that kept dancing on the edge like it was living lightning.

"See? You are acting like an old man already," Aroon laughed before jumping on the side and evading one of the tentacles that were shot at him.

Then he moved his sword to cut down that one before suddenly speeding up and hitting that monster directly in its head.

"One down," he said, "two thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine to go."

"Sure old man," Aroon just leaned to the left and right evading a couple of more of these tentacles before cutting them apart. "Any surprises for me?" he asked, "a hunter or something?"

"Don't act like a child, you are as wise and majestic as an old man," Aroon kept teasing his system and the system found his solution at last by totally ignoring him.

He kept pushing forward, killing all that stood in his way. In fact without some far distance attacks coming from hunters he felt this was like a walk in the park for him.

"That mecha is quite lively."

He heard a series of explosions coming from the opposite direction where the mecha was fighting.

Mechas were a lousy mimicry in everything for netvors. Everybody knew that. It wasn't limited only to the external shape, also the weapons used were quite weak.

"Don't criticize humans, old man, if you only let us fight on equal terms and not let twins get your gift we wouldn't need such mechas."

"What do you mean?"

the system kept his secrets and refused to tell any to Aroon.

The mecha kept pushing forward while using firearms and meticulously modified advanced laser beams to kill anything around.

But Aroon knew without the need to go there and check, not a single monster was actually dead from such attacks.

"He needs some help," Aroon knew this for sure. He fought before with mechas and knew how suck they did in such battles. "Hopefully those bastards weren't just cozy sitting on their seats and did something new to them."

He kept pressing forward and this time he had to accelerate his march, leaving behind many monsters living but without their tentacles.

"Hey," he shouted the moment he got near the place of that mecha, "hey, come over here. Let's fight together."

The mecha long noticed Aroon but he seemed not to care about teaming up with him. Aroon wasn't that mad yet at the mecha. After all he knew what was going on inside that brain of his owner.

"He takes me for a useless mecha like himself," he muttered, "this is all your fault old man. If you let me fight in my true shape then I would have gained more respect here."
