Chapter 157 - Really?

Even though it was still early in the morning, Takei was already feeling exhausted from the onslaught of troublesome developments from the new school year.

He hadn't even reached the classroom yet, but new surprises kept on popping up.

The surprise that his entire friend group were in the same homeroom as him was already something shocking enough, but he now needed to attend to some important matters after school with the student council president.

"What other surprises are going to pop up..." Takei exasperatedly sighed.

Akari gently smiled and rubbed his back. "It'll be okay, you got this! Fighto~ Fighto~"

As she was saying this, Akari did a one-two punch combo with her fists to encourage Takei to give it his best.

"Okay, okay. I'll give it my all then," Takei chuckled. "Happy wife happy life, right?"

Takei had heard that saying from his father and grandfather many times, so he decided to use it on Akari to gauge her reaction.

"..."

There was utter silence for several moments before Takei felt the urge to check Akari's expression.

He turned towards Akari just to see her facial expression had completely frozen up, even though she was completely red in the face and was heating up to an abnormal degree.

The combination of a high body temperature and a frozen expression was something quite ironic.

"Uh, Akari?" Takei waved his hand in front of her.

There was still no response from Akari.

"I think you broke Akarin..." Helena laughed. "Good job, Takeichi! I'm very proud of you as your senior in love!"

"You're experienced in love?" Takei asked, baffled.

He couldn't believe that Helena was experienced in the art of romance even though she was a beauty with many skills and very little flaws.

It was probably due to her sporadic and mischievous nature that made Takei doubt her experience with relationships.

As Takei had expected, Helena gingerly glanced his way with tears forming in her eyes. "I don't really have any experience... All my knowledge is from romance mangas. I've never had a boyfriend my entire life, but I don't know why... Does God hate me?!"

Learning about her pitiful love life made Takei feel bad that he had even opened Pandora's box in the first place.

"Ah, yeah... Sorry about that," Takei awkwardly scratched his head. "Let's keep going to class."

He grabbed Akari's hand and continued to the classroom with the rest of his group.

By the time they reached the entrance of the classroom, Akari had already recovered from Takei's surprise attack.

"I wonder how this class will go..." Akari murmured.

"Nervous?" Takei asked.

Akari shook her head and dug her face into his shoulder. "Mmm, maybe a little..."

"Yes, yes. I'm right here to comfort you princess," Takei said, as he patted her head.

As they were enjoying each other in their own world, the rest of the group glared at them with exasperation.

"Not that I don't want to see this right in the morning, but I don't want to see this right in the morning," Eiji stated.

"I'm happy that you two are happy with each other, but it's awkward for the rest of us," Ryuto pointed out.

"A little bit too awkward," Arisa wryly smiled.

Rikka looked a bit done with life, while Helena was still depressed about her love life.

Takei did a light bow to all of them and apologized for their lovey-dovey aura. "Sorry about that, let's go in now."

Sliding the doors open, team Takei entered what would be their new homeroom for the school year.

All of the kids in the classroom stared at the large group entering the classroom and immediately gasped in shock.

Some of them had surprised expressions, while the rest had expressions of reverence.

"Hey, um... What's happening?" Takei turned and asked Rikka.

"It's the star power of this group," Rikka whispered back. "If you hadn't noticed, we have a group of some of the most influential people in the school."

Takei quickly glanced over his group of friends and confirmed Rikka's statement.

Akari; the goddess, Helena; the athletic pretty girl, Ryuto; the prince of the school, Rikka; the perfect girl, and Arisa; the shy cute girl.

Minus Eiji due to him pretending to be a loser on purpose, Takei understood why everyone else was staring at his group so intensely.

"I feel like you're leaving yourself out of this," Rikka accused. "You're also an influential figure so please recognize that, Takei."

He nodded in response to Rikka. "Yep, I can see it now. Takei, the boyfriend of the goddess, what a good position!"

Takei was only joking around when he said that, but he could feel Akari's cold glare directed at him, so he intentionally ignored it for the time being.

They all went over to their respective seats and sat down just before the teacher entered the classroom. "Hello everyone, I hope you all had a good break."

Attendance was taken like normal and homeroom continued exactly like it did last year. The only difference now was the people in the class.

Since today was the first day of the school year, it was being used as a day for introductions.

Therefore, school would be over early in the afternoon after all the students had greeted their respective teachers.

Everyone in Takei's homeroom introduced themselves when the teacher called names, which eventually led to everyone being somewhat acquainted with each other.

"Now that everyone is friends with each other, we need to decide on a male and female class representative," the teacher said. "Any volunteers?"

Being class representative was a very prestigious position, but it also entailed a lot of work in and out of school.

That being the reason, everyone immediately turned meek and avoided the teacher's gaze, including Takei.

Takei managed to avoid being picked as class representative last year, so he also hoped it was possible this year.

"Looks like we're drawing sticks," the teacher sighed. "Everyone come up here and grab a stick with the appropriate colored number. Blue is for the boys and pink is for the girls."

All of the students did as instructed and went up to pull a stick.

Takei ended up with a blue seven, which made him pretty happy since seven was a lucky number.

"All right, will the two people with the number seven please come up here?" The teacher announced to the class.

Sh*t! I thought seven was a lucky number!

Takei stood up from his seat, but Akari had coincidentally stood up from her seat as well.

Sticking out her tongue and winking at him, Akari showed Takei the stick that she had gotten.

A pink seven... How lucky do I have to be picked alongside my girlfriend? This RNG system is definitely bugged!

In the end, Takei and Akari became the class representatives of class 2-A without much trouble, even though Takei was extremely reluctant to take the role.

It seemed that fate was not done messing with him just yet.

Go Explode! Idiot Couple Meter: 13 -> 17%

His streak of bad luck continues!

Serious-san: Good luck, you're going to need it.

Sugar-chan: Ahaha... Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with Serious-san here. Good luck!
