I dreamt of him. I actually dreamt of the man. The dream was so erotic I couldn't begin to explain everything in detail. I just knew it was the first and best dream of its kind. Sadly, we didn't go beyond the steamy kisses as I would've liked.
I pouted most of the time as I worked. Jennifer asked if something was amis but I couldn't tell her anything so I lied that I was fine.
I silently wished that I could see Prince Alexander just so I could swoon over him but also, I didn't want to see him due to the events of the day before. I felt a blush creep up as I remembered what had happened.
'Oh my God, I'm behaving like a school girl.'
Was this how it actually felt to have a crush on someone? I had never crushed on anyone. I never really had the time for that kind of thing.
But now I wished I had at least dated before. Maybe then I wouldn't be behaving like a lovesick puppy.
I was cleaning one of the paintings in the hallway when someone turned the corner. I lifted my eyes to see Prince Alexander walking straight towards me. I immediately fidgeted.
A million thoughts raced through my brain with each step he took. Was he here to scold me? Did I do something wrong? Did he find out about my crush?
I started trembling and a sweat broke out on my forehead. The million pound worth painting in my hands almost dropped. I began breathing erratically.
The Prince only passed by me as if I myself were part of the paintings. I was overreacting. I took in a heavy breath and replaced the painting on the wall. As I was retracting my hands, I accidentally knocked down the small flowerpot on the table.
It fell and I knew I was to lose my job. Who knew how much that thing costs? Probably higher than my own salary two months combined. I watched as the thing divided into pieces and the dirt cover the floor.
I heard footsteps behind. The next moment, Prince Alexander was standing in front of me. He looked around at the mess I had created.
"What is going on here?" Oh my God, his voice.
I almost forgot both what I had done and his question. I only remembered I was being questioned when he nagged for an answer.
"Oh, um... I, uh..." I looked at the mess and remembered, "I'm sorry, your Highness, it was an accident."
I knelt to pick up the broken pieces by hand but was immediately stopped, "What do you think you're doing? You could get injured." He caught my upper arm and tried to pull me back up.
I felt a jolt of nerves run through my body all the way to my core. I only hoped he would not feel the shudder. It was honestly a simple remark, but I found myself thinking way beyond the layers it was supposed to represent.
He held me a while longer, looking straight into my eyes. It felt like he could see right through me. We were in some kind of a trance. This actually looked like a scene from a romantic movie to me, and I really didn't want anything to interrupt the moment.
"Ahem!" Prince Alexander removed his hands from me as quick as lightning, almost as if I burned him.
I turned to glare at whoever had a death wish to interrupt my happy moment but stopped in my tracks as my eyes landed on him. Prince Henry.
"How's the charming vixen, brother? I see you've gotten yourself a catch. Too bad you're engaged," he cooed.
'Vixen? I, a vixen? This man deserves a death warrant.'
From the look of things, Prince Henry was most definitely trying to get on his brother's nerves. Tell me about little brothers. Prince Alexander gave Prince Henry a scathing glare before walking away.
Prince Henry watched his brother walk away and then turned towards me, "well, vixen, looks like it's just you and me now."
"I have to work."
"Why! It didn't look like you had to work a few minutes ago."
"Listen, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I'm really busy. As you can see," I gestured to the mess, "I have to clean this up. And probably get ready for a big scolding," I finished resignedly.
"I could help." I looked up at him. He didn't look like one to help. "But for a price."
"Name it!"
"I get to have a night with you." I almost choked on my own saliva.
"Forget it!"
"Oh, come on! Do you know how many women under this roof want such a privilege?" he boasted.
"Your mother too?"
"You know that's different."
"Still no. Unfortunately, I don't want to get into bed with you like the rest!"
"Alright, fine. Your loss," he said as he lifted his hands up in the universal sign of surrender and backed away.
I looked at the mess on the floor and squatted down to pick up the broken pieces. I had removed the last one when Prince Henry returned with another pot, almost similar to the one I had broken. He handed it to me and I skeptically took it.
"I already said I won't sleep with you."
"Yeah, I know."
"So why are you giving it to me?" I asked carefully.
"Because I want to."
"And you don't want anything in return?"
He only smirked in answer and walked away. The bloody hell was wrong with these royal people? Anyhow, my skin was saved. I used my hands to remove most of the dirt and poured it into the pot together with the poor flowers and then added some water.
I mopped away the rest of the dirt and finished cleaning the entire hallway. All the while, my mind was filled with different thoughts, all jumbled up. My feelings were all over the place.
I had to keep my distance away from these two brothers. One keeps getting on my nerves and the other makes my heartbeat go haywire. There's no way this could end good for me.
