A Sibling's Choice

Away from all of this, Acrilla brings all of the kids, including Noah, to the surface to help bring her brothers and all of the mermen back.

“Follow me,” Acrilla says. They all see the boat and the commotion that’s happening. The question is, how are they going to fight against them?

“We can’t go back on the boat,” Calem says. “Samuel and his fishermen will kill us.”

“We shouldn’t think that way, Calem,” Acrilla says. “All we have to do is think how we are all going to get up there and find my brothers to get them out.”

“Noah, you have to stay here,” she says. “And I’ll be back.” Noah disagrees about leaving Acrilla to fight the fishermen.

“You know you can’t come with me,” Acrilla says. “If any of them spot you, go back under and swim home.” To avoid capture, Noah hides far from the boat so Captain Samuel and his crew will not see him. Acrilla leads the others to the boat where they hide along the sides. “Stay quiet, so they won’t hear us.”
