CHAPTER 4 | KNOWING ETHAN

LUCY'S POV

He was lying there, with his hands tied behind his head on the pillar. The room looked odd from the rest of the place, grey walls and pillars were the only things I could see. I didn't know where to look, I was very confused. All I can see was Ethan in trouble.

"Ethan," I scream and rush to him. Marcus pulls me by my arm and grabs me. Ethan spits blood from his mouth.

"Leave her alone," He screams as Aiden kicks his stomach.

"Don't hit him, I'll do whatever you want!" I didn't know what I can do, but I need to help Ethan somehow.

"Lucy, you must've lost your head," Ethan screams again, Aiden doesn't hesitate to give him another kick. Marcus breathes on my hair which sends me goosebumps.

"Choose Lucy or The Skull," Marcus smirks.

Aiden gapes his mouth wide open to say something, but he resigns when he notices Marcus. I couldn't turn and look at Marcus, which made me uncomfortable.

I didn't want Ethan to choose me over his mafia, but still, I wanted to. I have never expected or asked anything from him. I give a pleading look towards Ethan, I didn't know what the mafia meant to him, but if he's on bad terms with Marcus, it should be because of the mafia. If he had risked his life earlier for The Skull, it must mean something to him.

"The Skull," he answers. My heart palpitates faster, I thought I meant more to him than anything else. Besides, I didn't want to be here. Tears gush up from my eyes. I tell myself that is okay, maybe Ethan will try to save me, maybe this is part of his plan.

"Skull it is then," Marcus smirks are walks towards the people who were tied up. The rest of the gang were waiting outside and pounced in when they realised that Ethan was released.

Aiden grabs his guns and hides behind the pillar. Marcus places me behind a table that was far away from the gang war and grabs his gun. I place my hands on the ears and wait for it all to end. I was getting sick of gunshots. I have never heard gunshots in my life, except in movies. An hour passed and still, the fight was on.

A bullet passes through the table, missing inches away from me. I jerk outside of the table and run into the corridor, I couldn't navigate around the place. I hid next to an abandoned pillar, which looked like it will fall any moment. The good thing was that the gunshots sounded more distant.

"Lucy!" I heard Marcus scream, I clutch my dress and look back. I see him running towards the table and examine the gunshots. He must be happy to think that I was dead.

"Lucy!!"I hear him shout again, I close my eyes tightly and wait for the nightmare to be over. He must be angry about Ethan, and I wonder whether he's going to show that to me. I hoped that he would be nice, but that collapsed when I realised he was kind only because he wanted to strike a deal with Ethan.

Someone pulls me up and drag me towards the direction I've seen Marcus. I open my eyes and see Aiden's arm grabbing me.

"She's here," He announced to Marcus.

Marcus rushes to my aid, I inch back as Aiden pushes me towards Marcus.

"Since your boyfriend has escaped, leaving you here" He paused for a second, " I think you belong to us," he says, but not in a way that I would find cruel, it was soft.

"Why can't we just kill her?" Aiden grabs my shirt and pulls me towards him. He grabs his gun and points it at my forehead.

"Don't," Marcus shouts and grabs me from him. I felt like a ball which is being through away.

"We don't want more responsibility Marcus," Aiden tried to pull me away from Marcus, but he was strong.

"Stop, or I'll keep bombs in your toilet seat," I squeak as they look at me in confusion. I imagine them thrown up in the sky without their pants.

"Shut up," Aiden suppresses his laugh and shakes his head placing his palm on the forehead. I wanted to tell him I was serious, but I knew better.

They lead me in through the gang war, it was horrible. The corpses were scattered all over the place as if it was an element to give the place life. The grey walls and pillars were decorated with blood. I felt like I would pass out any moment, the blood smelt terrifying.

My head starting spinning, and a shoulder supports and lifts me, and I guess it is Marcus because Aiden would be happy to see me fall. I didn't lose my consciousness, but I was afraid that I might puke if I open my eyes. I didn't want to puke before the people who'll be very delighted to see it.

I was being carried somewhere, and I hoped it was where Marcus was providing me food. But the long walk confused me, I wanted to peek out but I was scared at the same time.

Marcus places me on a narrow couch, which was shorter than the one I slept on. My heart skips a beat when I hear the engines roar, I was being taken away.

"I know you can hear me," Marcus says as my heart pulsates. Ethan had rejected me, and I was being taken into some place after the gunshot trauma. Just a week ago, I was chilling on my balcony with Olivia, sipping some hot chocolate out of my favourite penguin mug.

"I'm taking you to my home," He says. I jerk back on the seat and push myself in between two front seats. I was glad that I couldn't find Aiden.

"Why?" I ask, blood racing straight into my brain. I wondered where my phone was, I knew it was in my purse, but where is my purse? I had to call Olivia and ask her to save me, which she obviously would without a question.

"Because that's where you'll live from now on," He smirks, I see that through the rear mirror.
