The Method

'''It is correct. You have what we call a Stellar Body. It is a precious type of body, the one with the highest affinity with Stellar Energy. You are extremely lucky. It is almost impossible to be born with one. There has only been one before you, and he is an all-powerful Overlord ruling half the universe.''' This time, the voice talked slowly and clearly, as if the Sovereign talking on his mind forgot about his previous annoyance.

'Senior Sovereign of Light, it can not be possible... I had been training for months to no avail, and the changes in my body are unnoticeable... If what you are saying is true, I would not have suffered this much looking at everyone becoming Ascenders but me... Please, do not joke with this.' Ethan White noticed his vision was blurring and felt a slight tickle in his face.

He spent several months training in vain, trying to be Ascended. Even most of his classmates were already Ascended. Ethan White trained daily, but some nights he could not sleep properly, thinking he is being left behind by the rest of society. He already heard about the rising wave of suicides related to Apprentices not being able to awaken their ability.

'''Hum? Why am I feeling like there is a big misunderstanding here? The body's quality, or in other words, the affinity the body has with the Stellar Energy, is not measured in a higher quality meaning a higher absorption speed. Your body needs Stellar Energy to build the Heart Core. A stronger Heart Core needs more Stellar Energy than others, therefore, taking more time to Ascend. With your body, you would awaken a law class ability in around fifty years, maybe less time if you are lucky... The all-powerful Overlord took thirty years to awaken his law class time ability, and it is considered the best ability on the universe.''' Ethan White could hear an attentive tone in the Sovereign's explanation, as if apart from reading his mind, he also could feel his emotions.

But Ethan White did not notice the tone in his voice. He was shocked to the core by the answer. Ethan White never thought that the entire earthly civilization was wrong, and a faster absorption speed actually meant a worse talent! Why did he never think about it before? Then it means he is super-powerful?! Ethan White got lost in his thoughts, feeling overly excited. Feeling hope for the first time.

'''If you are willing to become my disciple, you will be recognized as royalty in my galaxy. I will also teach you a method to quicken the process of training your physical body, so you can get Ascended faster without awakening a worse ability. It is only possible for a Sovereign. The all-powerful Overlord did not have a Sovereign helping him at that time. If I were you, I would think seriously about it.''' The Sovereign reminded him, as if it was the wisest decision to accept the Sovereign as his master. And Ethan White thought the Sovereign was correct. Simply an idiot would refuse. But it was this fact that made Ethan White think suspiciously of him.

Ethan White suspected of this Sovereign of Light, but his explanations, knowledge, and the chance to Ascend in a short time were convincing. But hope was too strong. He wanted to take a risk and look at what his method is. If he found it suspicious, he would forget about it and keep training in his way.

'Master, I accept to be your disciple. Could you please instruct me on your method so that I can awaken my ability faster and be more helpful to you?' Talked Ethan White in his mind, getting ready to hear the method.

'''This is what I wanted to hear from the beginning. You sure took so much time to choose the obvious answer. Since you are my first disciple, you will be called from now on "Disciple of the Mighty One", or better, "Disciple of Handsomeness"...''' The Sovereign got lost in his peculiarity, trying to choose a disciple's name worthy of his master.

'Master, the method...' reminded Ethan White.

'''Oh, yes, yes. I almost forgot about it. Oh, I think "Light Disciple" will do.'''

'The method...' Ethan White could not let the Sovereign's mind stray again. What would the Sovereign say next if he kept talking? He did not want to hear any other story about his concubines.

The Sovereign sighed. '''You really have to learn to adapt to the situation, my Light Disciple. Let your Master show off his mightiness. Do you not know that your Master, when was only a child, was so smart that was banned from participating in the annual knowledge exam? They said my charm was distracting the female participants.'''

Ethan White could not imagine how his new master has reached so far with this mindset. He even began to feel a slight regret about accepting to be his 'Light Disciple'. But Ethan White could feel an enormous power in his mind each time his master said a word, as if his mind was too fragile to bear with the explosive power coming from the other side of the mental connection. Therefore, he did not doubt the fact that he was facing a supreme expert.

At this moment, Ethan White felt something was wrong with the words his master just said. 'Master, then you were banned because of being too smart or too charming?' After saying these words in his mind, Ethan White could feel a sudden silence from the other side. As if the ruling being on the other side did not even notice the inconsistency of his story.

'''Both.''' replied the Sovereign after a prolonged time. Ethan White thought he noticed a slight irritation, but he decided to ignore his senses. He probably was wrong.

'Master, would they not appreciate your wisdom even if you distracted the women taking part in the exam? It would be their fault for getting distracted by someone as handsome as yourself.' Ethan White tried some pleasantries, thinking this would make his master feel better. Therefore, giving him the method to quicken his absorption of Stellar Energy. But this time, Ethan White did not notice the low grumble coming from the distant cosmos.

On a remote galaxy was a planet with red-colored dirt, tall black trees, and a green sky. This planet was the home for round furry white beings, famous in the entire universe. Every Ascended wished to capture one, since they were classified as one of the cutest pets. But strength was a necessity to infiltrate this world and come out alive to tell the tale.

The Furry White Civilization was one of the strongest in the Light's Galaxy, being one of the most influential factions under the Sovereign of Light's rule. On one of the dark blue mountains, on a peak, a loud groan could be heard. There was not any furry ball near, but if they got near, they would be shocked!

"I can not believe that lowly being is still correcting me! How does he dare?!" roared a completely yellow and ethereal form, as fragile as if he would get disintegrated by his own power at the next moment. The shock waves of his roar pulverized several mountains to dust. Luckily, this mountain was a special one.

Next to him laid a big round ball. But this one was not white or furry. Parts of her fur were burned, and her beautiful silvery color was dyed of dark red. She was the Emperor of the Furry White Civilization, a majestic being who controlled several solar systems belonging to her race. But her current appearance did not make justice to her dignified identity, being beaten up by her ruler.

She was also the reason the mountain did not crumble under the attacks of the Sovereign of Light.

"My Majesty, keep beating me. Show me all your anger." pleaded the mighty Emperor, her voice trembling. She was afraid that if her Sovereign did not release all his anger, he would extinguish her entire race.

The Sovereign of Light looked at her disabled body, a cold light flickering in his eyes. "Humph." Scoffed after deciding not to take her life, feeling scornful dissatisfaction at not being able to kill her. He was mad with anger, but he did not want an insurrection to rise.

Controlling his emotions, he raised his almost transparent, glowing hand. A thin line of light was released from the center of his palm, aimed at an inhabited planet from a distant solar system. The light ray reached its target in an instant, producing a blinding detonation that resembled a supernova.

"My Majesty, that solar system belongs to one of our Monarchs..." The empress halted the continuation of her words immediately after noticing the gaze of her ruler staring abruptly at her, with clear killing intent on his eyes.

"I definitely feel better now." Yawned the Sovereign of Light while the chunks of the planet he just cracked were scattered around the solar system and falling into the Furry White Civilization's worlds. Crushing billions of lives to dust.

Ethan White waited around an hour for his master, but after thinking the mind connection could have a time limit, he decided not to waste more time waiting and resumed his training. It was not until three hours passed that he got to hear a familiar voice again.

'''Were you waiting for me, my Light Disciple? Your Master had some trouble to resolve. A foreign Monarch took advantage of me talking to my beloved disciple to infiltrate my domain and destroy a whole solar system. I had to localize him and extinguish his life. It is the reason your Master took this much time. Now, I am going to teach you the method to reduce your time of training.''' Ethan White focused instantly on the method. He pretended not to care about what kind of strength a being needed to destroy the entire solar system, but it was nagging him into the depths of his mind.

'''Alright. The method is unique to you. It comprises eating a Heart Core. A being with another kind of body would not support the intensity of the Stellar Energy stored in a Heart Core, but your body is perfect for this. And to eat a Heart Core... you first need to find an Ascended, sever his chest into two halves, and take his Heart Core out. It is easy, is it not?'''

Ethan White was left speechless.
