NO BASKETBALL PLAYER FRIENDS

"Young Jae! Heiran!"

Dongyul ran towards their direction and Young Jae kept his eyes glued to the door. He is wondering why Dongyul is the only one who went inside and the guard is just waiting outside. Where is Chung Ae?, he wonders. So he looked at his friend and saw him helping Heiran in getting up.

"Why isn't she here?"

Young Jae asked his friend in curiosity. Dongyul find that intriguing since his friend doesn't really ask about Chung Ae that much. Then he looked back at Heiran and saw her comfortable with the situation that he is now around. That made Dongyul think that since Young Jae and Heiran were left here in each other's company and without them knowing each other that well, maybe something awkward happened to the both of them.

"Chung Ae received a call from her father so she immediately went home."

"Since I was the one who dragged Miss Choi here, I think we should drive her home."

Heiran is just leaning on the corner eavesdropping on their conversation. She is irritated with the way Young Jae became serious when he has been a total bully just a while ago. Calling her Miss Choi after calling her Heiran for so many times earlier makes Heiran uncomfortable now. It's as if they came back to being strangers again.

"Then I'll go and get my car. Can you assist Heiran? Let's meet outside."

Dongyul looked at his friend and he said nothing but yes. He can tell Young Jae is exhausted from the almost unending match they had a couple of hours ago. He is really working hard in every game, wanting to secure their school's basketball rank and reputation. He might be brainwashed by both his family and their coach, but he is indeed a great player.

So Dongyul excused himself from that awkward situation and went out of the room. He is wondering why the both of them are quiet. Naturally, Young Jae is a loquacious person since he is opening a lot to him and often tells some stories about his day. And Heiran isn't really as introvert as what people might say as well. So what's going on with the both of them? Is Young Jae still undecided whether he should let Heiran interview him? Or worse, did they argue about the issue or about Chung Ae?

"Heiran, can you give me back my book?"

"No. Grant me that interview first."

"Heiran, do you really think I would give up an interview just because I want my book back?"

"Who knows? Oh and can I have your phone for a minute? I want to save my number so you can call me for the interview."

"At least be professional in asking me for an interview."

"You drew me away when I was trying to be nice."

"Fine, here's my phone."

Young Jae gave him his phone and since Heiran insisted she can walk on her own, he managed to walk ahead and leave Heiran behind. Now Heiran, despite of the wound she has on her knee, is walking behind him with a little trick in her mind on how to secure her scholarship. She got her phone from her bag and hid Young Jae's, trying really hard not to make a sound.

"I already had my number here. You want your phone back?"

Young Jae stopped but he never dared look back at Heiran. She is grinning really hard for she thought her plan's going to work out. With her having Young Jae's phone and with him having hers, Young Jae is expected to call her and ask for his phone.

"Just drop it inside my bag."

And the man bent his knees down because he is a lot taller than Heiran. And she is now calling it a success. It's not like she is an opportunist but Chung Ae is and the only way Heiran could win is to put a lot of pressure with Young Jae. She also thinks that Young Jae is rejecting her because of Chung Ae, which is a partial truth as well. Whether or not they are allies and they really intend to bring hardships in her life, Heiran knows she deserve better than that.

"Young Jae, I should go home alone."

"What do you mean?"

"I only have just a single friend that I introduced to my Dad. It is because he knows nothing about sports. I can't really have a friend who is sporty, not you or Dongyul since you are well known in the world of sports."

"Why do they have to detach you from the things you love?"

"If you really are interested enough, it'll take time. But I just can't tell anyone right now. Weekend's coming and we'll never see each other again. I hope you can accommodate me. I can't afford schooling here and I never plan to go to another school."

Heiran, despite of the wound she's having on her knee ran as fast as she could and escaped the hall. Young Jae didn't bother her doing that. She has been honest about wanting to go home before 8PM. Young Jae thought she's been given a curfew and is restricted to hang out and meet other people in this place. Whatever their reasons are, Heiran seems to be so obedient and under their control which Young Jae found pretty sad for he is having the same situation.
