Kaname was sitting outside of Namimori Café, a place where most people go for lattes and coffee. He had his own cup of coffee in his hand and was sipping it as he sat a bench. Kaname was waiting for Izana, one of his most trusted frenemies, to talk about his family. He needed to know somethings from her since she was much like Q, an informant.
If anyone had the information he so desired, it'd be either of these two. He wouldn't go talk to his grandfather because he had grown quite suspicious over him. When the old man was so powerful at his age, why wouldn't he kill Bakura? It'd give everyone time to breathe and relax. Kaname was growing tired of having his guard up 24/7, waiting for Bakura to strike at him.
And when he does, Kaname was sure that he'd be able to repay him in due for all the injuries Bakura brought upon him. When he fought Bakura for the first time a few months ago, he was so injured that Arisa wasn't sure if he was dead or alive. Kaname's crimson eyes gazed forward as Izana was entering the café. Most likely to get some coffee before chatting with him.
"Damn. I wish I could just go on a vacation, soon. I need a break from all the problems Soichiro brings to me, to be honest." Kaname sighed loudly, attracting nearby pedestrians attention. They all looked at the boy with a funny looking face, as if they had been holding back their laughter. Kaname grunted, annoyed by their actions. Once he was done with Izana, he made a mental note to kill them later.
Izana sat at the bench next to him, resting her head on his shoulder as she held her cup of coffee. Her red hair had gotten awfully bushy today that it managed to reach Kaname's nose. He sniffed her hair lightly and smelled her hair conditioner. It had the scent of red roses, the same flower that Izana liked. Fitting for her since she was like a rose, red and very picky with sharp thorns.
"Kaname, do you ever wonder what our previous life could have been? You, a normal person without any power, and I... a girl you love." Izana asked of Kaname, her eyes staring at his. Izana had the same spiritual belief as a buddhist: Believing in the path of reincarnation. Izana chose to believe that Kaname and herself had met many years prior to this very moment, right before dying. Perhaps, their previous selves had chose to be reborn together for all eternity.
Kaname didn't believe that, however. Reincarnation? Nirvana? God? He hadn't really believed in any of them, despite praying to a higher being than himself numerous times. Why would a God decide to let humans exist? They were only causes for destruction. No matter where humanity went, they always left a trail of conflict behind them. Never escaping the shackles of pain and death as they kept repopulating.
"Humanity as a whole should be destroyed, Izana. We shouldn't be given the chance to be reborn as anything.
We should just die and turn into dust, so we can't destroy or harm anything else anymore. Look at what's happening outside of Japan right now.
Wars are raging in America and Russia's beginning to start a nuclear war... its all so stupid." Kaname said to Izana, stating that he didn't believe humanity had any chance of becoming anything good. Humanity was a lost cause in Kaname's eyes, seeing that as humans... we have never seemed to form peace with another. No matter what, humans would always be enemies to one another. Humanity was a joke.
"Maybe you should widen your view, Ame-chan. The world isn't as doom and gloom as you think... everyone can be peaceful together if we work towards it. Uniting together as ONE would make everyone happy, wouldn't it?", Izana asked Kaname. He shook his head and took a sip of his coffee. She let out a sad sigh when he didn't answer her question and placed a hand into her pocket. She pulled out a photo and passed it to Kaname.
"Remember when we first met at Arisa's 7th birthday party? You weren't enjoying anything at all! You kept to yourself and hadn't bothered to play any games with her. In fact, I think you loathed her at the time." Izana mentioned as he grabbed the picture and placed it in his jacket. Izana smiled a bit at the sight of Kaname caring for the pictures of his cousin.
"Enough of the chit-chat. I want to speak on what you know about my family. Apparently, something dangerous is inside all of our bodies. Something so dangerous it takes nearly all our strength to hold the power in. Do you know anything about that?", Kaname asked the red-haired girl. Izana shot up from her seat to reveal her phone, scrolling through various pictures in her gallery.
A photo of a stone tablet appeared on her screen. Kaname stared at the photo, analyzing each and every detail shown to him. His red eyes sparked with curiosity and shock as he took the phone away from Izana. He stared at it, not breathing or moving a single inch. What he saw was something unlike anything before.
On the stone tablet was a drawing of an Egyptian woman and Egyptian Hieroglyphics. She was praying to someone, or rather, SOMETHING for better food and crops. The next drawing showed the woman speaking to a deity, cloaked in darkness, who offered to heed her wishes for the Egyptians. However, it must have came at a cost. Because the last drawing showed the deity being digested into her mouth.
Her eyes looked as if they had been bulging out. She had her hands on her face, scratching so hard that she actually tore through the skin of her face. The skin on the lower half of her jaw was ripped clean off, leaving only a river of blood. The deity must have been an evil one because the woman's eyes became a malicious red.
Kaname swiped right on the phone to see a second stone tablet sharing the story of the previous one, only telling what happened next. The woman had been shown with a group of children and men, preaching or talking to them about the deity that helped their food grow. The people she was with seemed to buy the idea, even beginning to worship and offer their bodies to the deity.
Unfortunately, that must have been what the deity wanted. The bodies of the children and men had been shown to be lifeless on the next drawing. However, their corpses would be reanimated and served as the possessed woman's servants. Their very blood was infused with many other people in their village, forcing chaos upon the world for a few millennia.
Destruction and Havoc is what wrought around them. It was a sad sight to see. Kaname gave Izana her phone back and sighed deeply. "I'm assuming that you think that these evil maniacs are related to my family, in one way or another? If so, then that's impossible. We aren't possessed by some man-eating god and we definitely aren't slaughtering children." Kaname angrily said as he rubbed his hands together.
"And here I thought you didn't care for children. Considering the fact you threw a 10- year old through a brick wall-"
"YEAH, I GET IT! I screwed up last time. All because of my stupid pride and ego. When I was born here, I thought of myself as the strongest person in the world because of my natural strength. No one would dare try to fight me or even step near me.
And I was fine with that. Really, as a 5 year old training to beat grown men, I wasn't really the type to go out and play. I was so arrogant and had my head so far up my ass that I thought it was impossible for anyone to beat me.
But my old ways of thinking changed the second I met Soichiro Tsukuba. When we first fought at that stupid underground tournament, I was... actually getting excited for once. He made my heart start pumping faster and faster with each punch he threw at me.
While all of that was happening, I kept thinking to myself 'Am I really losing? To this loser? This must be a dream!'. I was so conflicted with myself for being outclassed so easily by him, a boy who could barely tie his own shoes.
As the months went by, I began to think highly of Soichiro. He was so weak yet he'd step up to people who were far stronger than himself. I'm kind of jealous of that stupid courage he has. I guess thats why I've grown to admire him.
So, I'm trying my best to refrain from punching everyone in the face when they tick me off. I'm... fuck it, I'm becoming a better man than I was before. The stuck-up asshole you saw before is gone!", Kaname declared as he placed his fist on his heart.
Izana nodded her head, happy that Kaname was trying to change himself and be a different person than he was before. But the question still remained: What was Kaname's connection with the Egyptians? And why were they being possessed by a deity?
Izana couldn't figure out the details. All she could do is base a theory on the evidence shown.
"Kaname must be a direct descendant of these Egyptians. They possess the same facial features he does: Red eyes, angry glare, sharp-like teeth, mole under his eye, and a scar on his neck. How is it that the Kouga family is related to these people?", Izana thought as Kaname grabbed her wrist and pulled her down the street. It was so sudden that she hadn't had the time to process what he was doing.
Kaname grunted as they walked through the entertainment district of Namimori. To brighten up the mood since his stupid speech, Kaname forced a walking clown to do tricks for Izana. The clown performed juggling knives, flame kebabs, and future reading. When Izana was told to place a finger on the deck of cards, the clown hummed silently as he looked into her future.
"Hm... oh yes, I see you as a great businesswoman. You deal with weapon-manufacturing and end up as one of the strongest companies in the history of the human race. You also end up having two kids, both being twins." The clown said to Izana, who blushed at the last part. Her, having kids? Ah, it seemed to good to be true.
And the likelihood of her having twins seemed so out of reach, but not impossible. She wondered who the father of those kids would be. "It'd probably be Odysseus-kun...", She said aloud as Kaname raised an eyebrow in confusion. She only said it to tease Kaname but judging by the look on his face, he had not been amused. She coughed quickly and pranced down the entertainment district. Kaname paid the clown 15¥ and raced after her.
The duo had been messing around with each other the rest of the day. Chasing each other all across town for the sake of fun, buying the other drinks and food, and going as far to buy clothing. It felt like a date for the both of them, alas they hadn't said that to each other. In fear of ruining the mood or being rejected.
Kaname, even thought he won't admit it directly, had wanted to share his feelings to her. He hesitated as the thought of her rejecting him had kept occurring in his head. Out of fear of that possibility, he remained silent and kept walking through the streets.
Izana had him carrying bags full of food and clothes while she kept buying more stuff with her father's credit card. At some point, Kaname had placed most of the bags on a truck and followed Izana around until she got tired. Izana gave up on buying anything else and stood in the streets with Kaname.
It appeared to be night, the dark sky above them had been releasing small drops of rain. The two locked their eyes onto each other and their lips quivered. Kaname wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. Her face was mere inches away from his own, her makeup became ruined as the rain poured down on them.
"You know... at first, I used to hate you. You always thought of yourself as a God, or perhaps even more than that. A God that no one would ever be able to touch. But now, Kaname... its like you're someone else entirely...", Izana said as her lips connected with Kaname's. The boy was surprised nonetheless but he returned the kiss back.
Their lips parted for only a moment so Kaname could speak. "It takes a lot for me to change my mind. And Soichiro proved to me that strength isn't always the most important factor to win, instead it's your resolve and what drives you to keep winning. My resolve has always been..." Kaname trailed off, his ears perking up. Izana arched her eyebrow in confusion.
Kufufufufu~....
Kaname let go of Izana's body and turned to see where he heard that mysterious sound. It sounded as if someone was taunting him, daring him to come closer. But how would that person know he could hear them? No one knew how advanced Kaname's hearing is; It was far more superior to his peers and a dying will mode Soichiro.
In truth, Kaname could hear sounds from all angles. Damn near everywhere at once. But this particular sound he heard had sounded as if the person intentionally wanted him to hear it. "Is there an enemy nearby? Why come assault me now of all times? Oh, you bastards." Kaname thought to himself as he revealed his batons from his belt. He let out a low growl, warning Izana of a potential enemy.
Izana reached into her purse for her potential weapons to aid Kaname in battle. "Kaname! Since there might be someone here, I'll help you. You shouldn't have to fight all of your battles alone!", Izana said as a pair of knives were in her hands. Kaname shook his head at her and started walking in the direction of the sound. His batons shook excitedly as they were bound to taste the blood of their enemies.
"No. I like fighting alone. Worrying about my partner in battle would only slow the two of us down. I don't need any help." Kaname explained before vanishing into the darkness. Izana sighed, flabbergasted by how stupid Kaname was acting. "Idiot."
—————————————
Kaname had appeared in a park, 25 miles away from the entertainment district in Namimori. He followed the sound there in search of his target, who must have wanted him to come there. Kaname looked up at the dark sky and frowned slightly. The moon was shining brighter than ever.
It looked as if the moon wanted to watch him fight. Or Kaname's ego was big that he thought a space rock was sentient and could process the feeling of curiosity. Maybe it had been both. Whatever the case, Kaname wasn't here to think about that stupid rock. He was here to eliminate a potential threat to his home, Namimori.
He couldn't allow anyone to disgrace Namimori with their selfish desires. From what Kaname gathered, Bakura's assassins have only been fighting for their own gain. Not once wanting to actually fight for HIM and rather themselves. It made Kaname feel a bit of pity for Bakura.
None of his subordinates had been fighting for him, just for the profit that comes with it.
"Kufufufu..."
Kaname turned to where he heard the sound in the park.
Behind Kaname was a man. He had spiky long black hair that had sharp fringes pointing in every direction. His hair had a bang long enough to cover up the entire right side of his face, possibly to hide a battle wound. His left eye was the same color as Kaname's: Crimson. So red that no one could possibly tell if it was bloodshot or not.
He wore a black trench coat with red clouds on the sleeves. Underneath the trench coat was a purple turtleneck that had dried blood on it. Along with a stab wound being clearly visible on his torso through the turtleneck. Though, it appeared to be healed.
On the lower half of his body, he wore black skinny jeans. A brown belt with various bladed weapons on it had been wrapped tightly around his waist. He wore brown boots as his footwear. He looked to be about 19 years old, just two years younger than Hoshika.
"So you're the guy who came here to fight me, one on one. Gotta say... you don't look like very much to me." Kaname said, taunting the older man and he had laughed in response to Kaname's remark. A knife appeared in the man's hand. Kaname raised his batons in response, showing that he wasn't afraid to attack.
"My name is Seito. Surely, you know of Bakura! The man whose been trying to kill you and that wimp Soichiro for months now. I've been tasked to throughly eliminate you and bring your head back to him. You've been a super huge pain in Bakura's ass for so long now, Kaname Kouga." Seito informed him, cleaning his dirty knife as Kaname scoffed.
Kaname glared at Seito and rushed at him, his batons aimed for both sides of his neck. Seito anticipated this and held up his twin knife, shielding his neck from Kaname's attack. Kaname was shocked by quickly Seito was able to guess where he was going to attack.
Kaname leapt into the air, not trying to get too close to Seito. If he's able to stop Kaname's batons, it's possible that Seito can break them without a second thought. And he didn't really feel like getting new batons. Kaname threw his batons higher into the air as he took off the black gakuren on his shoulders.
"Alright, let's see if you can stop these." Kaname said as his hands had two black balls in them. Seito watched in awe as Kaname threw them at Seito's head. Seito cocked an eyebrow as he stared at the impending black balls thrown at him."Something isn't normal about those balls. Just what do you plan to do, Kaname?", Seito thought as the balls were merely inches away from his dome.
Kaname's attitude shifted from confident to slightly concerned. Why hadn't Seito moved away from the balls? Maybe he couldn't tell that they were coming straight at him because of how dark it was. Kaname decided against that assumption. It was impossible for him to not be able to see the balls; the moon had been shining bright. "Or maybe he figured out the secret of the balls." Kaname thought.
Seito slowly took a step back as the balls had made contact with the ground in front of him. The two balls exploded into tiny pieces as smoke began to fill up the area, clouding both Seito's and Kaname's vision. It didn't really matter to Kaname because his sense of smell was far stronger than his sight. With the two layers of smoke around them, it would be a bit harder to track down Seito's smell.
"You can't hide from me, Seito. I'll find you and mop the floor with you! I'll wipe that stupid grin off your face!", Kaname angrily thought as he closed his eyes and focused on Seito's scent. He wasn't that far from Kaname; Just a few meters to the left of his current position. Kaname equipped himself with his batons extended and charged to where Seito would have been.
He swung his arms wildly, trying to quickly end the fight. His batons seemed to be ripping something to shreds, particularly clothing. Kaname immediately noticed that his batons weren't tearing through human flesh or even making contact with it. Kaname looked down to see Seito's jacket, all torn to pieces by his wild attacks. Kaname silently gasped at the scene as he tightened his grip on his batons.
"Do you know how much that cost? 50, 000¥. Much more than that Gakuren you so proudly wear on your shoulders." Seito said from behind Kaname, his mouth dangerously close to Kaname's ear. Kaname froze in place as he had finally noticed Seito's presence. Kaname nervously gulped as Seito placed a hand on his shoulder. "Damn it! I should've known he would have tried something like this!", Kaname thought as he tried to think of a plan to escape Seito.
"You shouldn't always be so reliant on your nose, Kaname. Your sense of smell can always make you lose track of the real thing. It led you to my jacket because it smelt like barbecue chips, which is what I was eating before you got here, because of the crumbs spilled all over it. However, my shirt smells like sweet lavender! With two different scents, you could only track the one that smelled far stronger than the other." Seito explained to Kaname before throwing a fist into Kaname's back.
Kaname was sent skidding forward, trying his best to maintain balance and not tip over from the pain. "A punch from him is like being hit with a full-on car... I think he broke two or three of my ribs." Kaname took a mental note to not do close combat unless it was absolutely vital. Taking in consideration that his combat style involves getting up close and personal, Kaname would need to find a different approach to do both.
And right now, he couldn't think of a way to beat Seito without risking getting his skull cracked open. As Seito walked towards him, a knife in hand, Kaname had been thinking of a strategy. "It's like he knows my every move before I do. Seito isn't like anyone else I've fought before; He's like a predator. He forces his prey into a corner they can't come out of and waits until the right moment to make the killing blow. So what do I do against him?", Kaname asked himself as Seito began to make his way towards him.
"I thought the old geezer would have taught you something good by now. He always kept preaching about how strong his grandson would be by the time he's in high-school. But right now? You're just a wimp, like that loser Soichiro. Come to think of it, how is it that Bakura would have difficulty killing a brat like you?", Seito said aloud to annoy Kaname. He smiled as Kaname began to glare at him, his eyes beginning to fill with untamed hatred.
Seito watched in interest of Kaname's next move. He was sure Kaname would try to have a full-on brawl with him, even with his slightly injured torso. Kaname didn't really seem like the type to want to end things with his words, he most likely resorted to violence to get his way. As most of these barbarians do.
"How do you know my grandfather!? He wouldn't ever affiliate himself with you, Seito! You aren't anything like my grandfather Kazuki Kouga would want to be around with. Don't ever speak about him!", Kaname shouted as he dashed at Seito once again. He raised his right leg high enough that it could make a direct hit on Seito's face. Seito didn't move an inch from where he stood and let the attack go through.
Seito grunted a bit as Kaname's leg collided with the side of his head. Seito began to hear ringing sounds fill his ears and glanced at Kaname from the corner of his eye. He spat out a drop of blood from his mouth and smiled at the boy. Seito grabbed Kaname's ankle and began to squeeze as Kaname let out pained yells. "First time in a long while that I have ever dropped blood. Good, keep it up." Seito advised as he let go and Kaname dropped onto the ground.
Kaname gritted his teeth, forcing his body to push through the pain. Or the worse case scenario would come true, aka him dying to a dog like Seito. It'd be a pain in the ass for Kaname to explain to his ancestors in heaven on why he died so young. And thats if he met the requirements needed to get into heaven.
Kaname shot up from the ground and retreated to a building south of the park. It was only 4/2 minutes away so all he had to do was evade Seito long enough to make it there. But he knew Seito wouldn't let him get away so quickly. He was his prey, food that would be consumed within minutes. No, maybe even less than that.
"Whatever the case, I gotta rest and catch my breath! This bastard doesn't even look like he's getting tired, not even a little bit! Just what the hell fuels him to the point where he can't be exhausted?!?", Kaname thought as he kept running at top speed. Seito watched, disgusted by his 'cowardice' and threw a knife at his left leg. It grazed Kaname and forced him to cry out in pain as a small river of blood began to come out from the cut.
"How are you Kazuki's grandson...? You're running away without acknowledging that your enemy wouldn't attack you from behind. Not everyone has honor, Kaname. But whatever, I'll let you go. After all, it makes it even better that my prey hides." Seito said as he sat on a bench and held a phone in his hand. He began to dial a number and sighed heavily.
"What is it, Seito? Kind of busy with my own job." A lady-like voice spoke from the opposite end of the phone.
"You mind bringing me THAT weapon? I left it near your current location on accident, Bashira. I really need it for the brat I've been sent to deal with, you know?", Seito clarified as Bashira sighed.
"I hate you. I'll bring it to you, but you owe me after this. How about a little date?~", Bashira flirted with Seito and he almost gagged behind the phone. But he held it in for the sake of his most prized possession.
"Y-yeah, sure. J-just bring it here! It's almost morning and I don't want to cause a scene like Elric did, wherever the fat bastard went and got captured." Seito said as a hint of relief could be heard throughout his words. Bashira let out a small gasp and chuckled.
"So you wanted Elric to be captured? He's one of our friends, Seito. Are you still upset about... what happened long ago?", Bashira asked of the 19-year old and Seito let out a growl. Whatever had happened, it must have brought unfortunate memories.
"He was one of our friends. But he had to go and fight the blondie then lost without putting up much of a fight. And don't bring up what happened that day... it's not something I want to talk about." Seito lowered his voice at that last bit and hang up the phone. He put it back in his pocket and faced the sky.
"You know, Kaname... you and I ain't so different. After all, we share something very special." Seito said as his red eyes glowed brightly as he stared at the moon. He chuckled as he clenched his fist and got up from the bench. Hands in pocket, he began to walk in the opposite direction of where Kaname ran.
In front of him stood a mysterious black cloaked figure. A 4 foot tall box was thrown at him by the cloaked figure. He caught it with ease and grunted. "Bashira, do you really have to be so rough? You could end up destroying it with the way you're throwing stuff." Seito jokingly said as Bashira walked closer to him and stared at him. Underneath that hood, you could see her grey eyes staring into his soul.
"Dont forget... you have to kill him. Don't let your personal feelings get in the way of our job. He's a threat to what we are setting out to achieve! I won't let him destroy everything we've worked so hard for up until now. After all, I'm going to be pissed if I got my hands dirty with the blood of so many people for nothing." Bashira said, acting far differently than she was on the phone. In fact, her voice seemed to be filled with steel and her body language suggested that she was in a hostile-state.
"So it's that time of the month-" Seito began before she threw a shoe at him.
"¤" "☆"
Kaname hid in a supermarket that had been closed a few hours ago. He managed to break in by, well, breaking in via a rock being thrown into a window. Strangely, no security measures were activated once he broke the window. It was far too convenient for Kaname but he had to use what he could to survive.
He went over to a medical aid section of the supermarket and wrapped his leg into bandages, along with his torso as well. He even put Vaseline on his lips for some strange reason. This was no time to question his tactics because he would be killed if he didn't keep his guard up. Seito could sneak in here at any moment because of how lax the security was.
Kaname would be sure to install actual working cameras if he survived this battle. "I really should not have fought Bakura. This mother fucker has sent assassin after assassin to kill me. And I don't think I can last much longer, to be completely honest." Kaname said to himself as he went to the foods section and began to stress eat chips as he waited for Seito to come.
"In this darkness, he can't see me. And I really can't see myself unless I'm using my phone's flashlight. So not using iPhone ever again." Kaname took in consideration that Seito would have some sort of trick up his sleeve to see through the dark. After all, he is a professional assassin and has likely been in situations like this many times before.
In that case, Kaname would have to figure out a way to turn this fight into his favor. "While I'm at it, I'll call the police. I'm not stupid enough to just handle this by myself. By the time they get here, they'll have the building surrounded and he won't be able to escape." Kaname strategically spoke and dialed the policeman's number. It was far too risky for him to call them, if you took in the fact that Kaname had committed a crime by breaking into the supermarket, but it was all or nothing.
With Kaname being occupied calling the police, Seito could sneak into the supermarket without raising his suspicion. How did he do it? By sneaking in the same way Kaname had. Kaname is a smart man, but must be going senile at his young age because he left the glass from the broken window STILL there.
Seito could immediately tell that it was his entrance inside of the supermarket. "For a Kouga, you really aren't that experienced when it comes to preserving your own life. Nothing to be ashamed of; Just awfully stupid." Seito murmured to himself as he hid in the aisles. He walked around the aisles quietly, making sure to not step on anything that could generate loud enough noise to alert Kaname or anything that could ruin his boots. He spent good money on them.
Seito paid close attention to his surrondings. On the left side was the supermarkets stock of canned foods, like beans and whatnot, and the right side had been their stock of cereal. He grabbed a box of Rice Krispies and quickly opened them, stuffing his mouth full of sweet yet salty cereal. It would've tasted a whole lot better with milk and a bowl but beggers can't be choosers.
"Now where are you, Kaname? Come out... it's getting way past your curfew. Kazuki is probably worried sick that you haven't returned home along with that bratty cousin of yours. Arisa, wasn't it?", Seito raised his voice so that Kaname could hear him. His words echoed loudly through the supermarket so Kaname definitely heard him. But the boy still hadn't decided to come out, hoping to try and lure Seito into a trap.
Seito sighed as his taunts didn't seem to affect Kaname. He knew Kaname had a short fuse so why didn't he lash out already? Maybe he took anger management classes or something. "I'm getting TIRED of waiting, KANAME! COME OUT AND FACE ME, YOU PUNK! THAT'S WHY YOUR MOTHER LEFT YOU, BECAUSE YOU ARE A WORTHLESS LITTLE SHIT-" Seito hadn't gotten the chance to finish his sentence as he looked up into the air.
Kaname, whose red eyes were glowing so brightly in the dark, had been angered at the mention of his mother. Batons in hand, Kaname dived down at Seito with his arms swinging rapidly at his face. Seito quickly raised his arms to block Kaname's attacks, full of confidence that Kaname didn't possess the power necessary to even leave a scratch on him. "Only Hoshika or Renovatio can do that! Kaname is strong, but he doesn't hold a candle to either of them." Seito thought as Kaname growled in rage.
Once Kaname's feet had met the ground, he rushed at Seito again. This time, he wasn't aiming for the face! "I'll just go for your heart." He coldly declared as his batons began to give off static-like sound. The gakuren that rested on his shoulders had been set onto a shopping cart as he prepared to do battle against Seito. "No more chit-chat, you fucker. I'll keep punching until you die." Kaname said as he did a front-flip over Seito.
He spun around quickly as he threw a right hook into the back of Seito's head. Seito anticipated the move and spun to the left as a GLOCK 19 appeared in his hand. He pulled the trigger with it being aimed at Kaname's head, not giving the teenager a moment to think of his next move. Seito leaped back as he fired more bullets at the boy's skull.
Kaname raised his right baton high as it deflected the bullet and he dashed to Seito. Seito fired more bullets at Kaname with the GLOCK-19 until there wasn't a single bullet left in it's chamber. Kaname had been able to dodge most of the bullets without a single scratch but he was quickly losing his stamina due to exhaustion. Due to this, Kaname had been grazed by two bullets: One managed to get his left arm and the other managed to get his thigh.
Kaname toughened up and ignored the pain that came rushing into his brain. He had finally managed to get close enough to Seito again. "It was a long time coming but my new batons have enough power now. Thank you, Gramps, because I'm going to use the feature you gave me with these two bad girls!", Kaname thought as his black batons began to glow a strange crimson.
Seito had been taken aback by this but hid his surprise. He could care less about some glow in the dark batons. They wouldn't be able to do much damage to him anyway, right? Seito removed the sleeves off of his shirt to reveal the tonfa that was hidden. He smiled as Kaname ran to him, "Let's battle, Kaname!" Seito yelled as he rushed at Kaname.
Both of their forearms collided as a loud BOOM was heard throughout the supermarket. Kaname kicked Seito in the nutsack and watched as the 19-year old held back his scream. Seito threw his right fist upwards into Kaname's jaw, performing an uppercut. Kaname spat blood into Seito's face to temporarily blind him.
Kaname quickly rammed his head into Seito's, both taking massive amounts of damage. They both stumbled backwards and leaned onto something for physical support to stand. Blood had drenched their clothes and covered their hands. They had closely resembled America's infamous "Bloody Mary", where she was LITERALLY bloody.
"I... don't know who you are but screw you...! Don't ever speak about my grandpa or my mother like you actually knew them! I'll kill you if you do...!", Kaname said through gritted teeth as he struggled to walk over to Seito. Seito chuckled as he too walked closer to Kaname, both having their fists raised and ready to kill. "Come... and make me then!", Seito dared Kaname as he threw his fist at the boy's chest.
Kaname took the blow and grabbed Seito by his neck, squeezing as tight as he could and had his baton right above his head. Kaname was about to slam his baton into Seito's head to instantly kill him but someone's hand had stopped him from dealing the killing blow.
Kaname looked up to see Izana Kunagiri, a woman he deeply loves, had been there to stop him from taking a life.
"She must have snuck in while we were fighting each other. I can take this as a chance to escape!", Seito thought to himself as he began to crawl away from the two teenagers. However, Kaname grabbed him by his ankle and kept him from leaving. He had tons of questions that Seito needed to answer or else he'd kill him without hesitation.
Izana held Kaname'a gakuren and handed it to him. He placed it on his shoulders as he pulled Seito closer to him. He crouched down, wiping the blood off his face and slicking his hair back as he stared into Seito's eyes. "I have some questions for you, Seito. Answer them and I'll let you go run back into the shit-hole you came from. If you don't, I'll have Izana hold you down while I rip off those nails you have until you do." Kaname threatened Seito, venom leaking out into his words.
Seito chuckled and spat blood onto Kaname's shoes. A grin appeared on the man's face as he flipped off Kaname. "Sure, but I think you won't like what I'll tell you. After all, it has much to do with the both of us. Ask away, prey." Seito ordered as Kaname sighed before tucking away his batons. He put on his knuckle rings and gave Seito a small sadistic smile.
"First things first: What does Bakura want with us? He's sent so many of his assassins after us that we can't even SLEEP without fearing that we'd be in danger. So what the hell did we do to piss off Bakura to the point where he murdered numerous families to spite us?", Kaname asked of Seito. Seito reached for something in his jacket. Izana stood on guard for another firearm but Kaname was sure Seito knew he was defeated.
A photo had been revealed from Seito. He gave it to Kaname and Kaname raised his eyebrows in shock. On the photo was two young boys, no older than 9 or 10 years old. One had short silver hair with bright teal eyes; He wore grey overalls with a red t-shirt and brown sandals. It took a minute but Kaname couldn't have believed that this was actually Bakura. He looked like a totally different person now.
In this photo, Bakura must have been the younger one. The boy next to him had looked even happier than Bakura was. He had a brown fedora hat on while wearing a black t-shirt and orange shorts. He had short brown hair similar to that of Bakura's but it looked as if it was spikier. He held a fishing rod in his left hand and had held a fish in his left one.
Whoever this person may have been, Bakura and him had certainly been brothers. They just gave off that brotherly vibe, you know? And behind the boys were two adults, one female and one male. Their faces couldn't have been seen due to the photo being very old. And some red stains happened to be on it.
"This is Bakura and his family... when they were a family. Years ago, one of the Giove Mafiosi had been tasked with the job of killing the two adults shown on the photo. It came with high risk but also a high pay-grade. So much money that it could last you for the next 70 years. It begs the question: Who wouldn't take the job? I can see why that person would do it if they were bankrupt."
Seito explained as Kaname digested the information. "So one of the Giove had killed Bakura's family members and was paid great money for it. And from what I can gather, Bakura's aiming to crucially hurt the Giove by killing the next generation. I guess this family isn't as lovey-dovey as I thought it was." Kaname thought as Izana scrolled through her tablet, searching for news articles of mafia kills in the past 7 or 8 years.
"Without the next generation, the Giove won't be able to grow in power and expand their territory. The more new bosses they have, the better the chances of the new Bosses possessing greater power...!" Seito revealed as it didn't make full sense to Kaname or Izana. The new boss has the potential to be born with 'great' power, right? But what does that even mean?
"We can worry about that later. Moving on, why would the Giove target them in the first place? They don't seem like dangerous individuals. More like... innocent civilians who got caught in the crossfire. And better yet, what do you and your friends have to do with any of this?", Kaname asked as he sat next to Seito and stared up into the ceiling. Seito sighed heavily as he closed his eyes.
"They weren't completely innocent, Kouga. They had been manufacturing humanoid weapons... or as they would like to call them: H.M.S. Humanoid Mechanical Soldiers. They took kids in and "modified" them into the perfect humans, taking machinery and replacing organs with them. Even if the kids happened to have been failures, they still raised them and loved them all the same."
Seito explained as he took off the glove of his right hand. His index finger flipped over, shocking Izana and Kaname, along with the rest of his fingers. A small ball of fire came out of his fingers, relieving Izana. "I was supposed to be a 'pyromancer', apparently. I have basically what you fuck-wads call lighters in all of my fingers." Seito said as the flames went out and his fingers latched back onto each other.
"Bakura was one of the successful kids along with his brother in the photo. I don't know what exactly he was based off of, but they always said he was powerful. Just like the 'others'." Seito said as he got up with Kaname and reached for a box of cereal. Kaname gave him a bowl and some milk with a spoon. Seito nodded as a thank you and ate.
"So basically, all of your friends are cyborgs. That makes things a whole lot easier. I'd feel less bad about killing them since they're machines." Kaname declared as he ate a bag of chips with Izana, who disapproved of him killing anyone.
"No, you won't. You'll be beating them half to death and letting them walk away. If you can't do that, then escape!" Izana said as she latched onto Kaname, who was slightly annoyed by her clingyness. Seito laughed at his sudden words, gaining both of their attention.
"Out of all of us, Bakura is the strongest. He could've killed you all months ago! But instead, he chose to be arrogant and allowed you to win. Next time, Bakura won't be going so easy on you all. He's a different type of person right now." Seito informed them as Kaname scoffed in annoyance. There was simply no way he would lose to Bakura again.
"I'm not done asking questions, Seito. Who are you and what do you know about my grandfather? You speak about him like you actually knew him. Tell me... who exactly are you?", Kaname asked Seito the grandest question yet. Who was he? A question that he had been asked nearly all his life. And during his life, he didn't have a proper answer.
"I've traveled from place to place ever since I had decided to be an assassin. I haven't truly stuck to one identity, only numerous ones. I should tell him who I really am... it'd be a great surprise." Seito thought as he rubbed his chin and moved his hands to his ponytail. He removed the rubber band that had held his hair together and let his hair rest on his shoulders.
Kaname and Seito's eyes both began to glow crimson as they looked at each other, shocking Izana. A mark had appeared on their necks, one that had been blood red in color. The marking looked to be of a dragon eating its own tail, trying its best to devour itself whole. "The mark of Ouroboros...!", Izana thought as the realization had hit her.
"I am... Nakia. The original heir to the Kouga's throne." Seito revealed as he held out a hand to Kaname. He closed his hand and cloaked it with a bright red energy, gaining Kaname's attention.
"The Kouga family was originally from Ancient Egypt. As you could expect, we were very poor and lacked little food for anyone in our village. There was such a shortage of food that families had ended up being slaughtered to preserve as little meat as possible. It was all so very depressing back in those days.
The reason we didn't have much to survive in the village was because of how the 'Pharaoh', the man who oversees the village, took all the food and water for himself. He even considered himself to be greater than that of Osiris himself.
At some point in time, the Pharaoh had decided to kill ALL of the villagers and take the crops they grew for himself. Our Ancestor, Mona, had prayed to a God who could prevent the crisis and save her family. She didn't pray to just 1 God, she prayed to many of them. And not all God's were good, Kaname.
Apophis, the God of Chaos, had taken it upon himself to trick Mona into madness. He spewed words of lies to trick her already fragile mind into believing he was helping her family. And he did, for a short period of time. He killed the Pharaoh, restored their crops, and rebuilt the village into his grand utopia.
But... Mona had to hold up her end of the deal. She was forced into becoming the host body of Apophis, who mindlessly murdered a few of her family members and branded them with the markings we have on our necks.
Apophis lured the remaining survivors to him. He forced them into becoming his army... army of undead soldiers. So whenever they would die, they'd end up being reincarnated and keep fighting for Apophis until he won.
Apophis even tortued his soldiers by killing them and bringing them back to life just to kill them again. It was sickening, to say the least. But now, the curse has weakened over the years and holds very little effect to us now. Though, we do end up reviving at the worst possible moments." Seito said as the marks disappeared from their necks.
"And of course... we have some special tricks still with us." Kaname said as he got up and turned to the exit. He calmly walked to it, shrugging off the fact he was meant to be an undead soldier designed to kill for a God who cared only for chaos and destruction. Totally not on his mind right now!
"Heir to the throne, huh? So that makes you his grandson as well. How you ended up as a cyborg makes no sense to me. Come, Nakia, Grandpa would be happy to see you again." Kaname said as Izana caught up with him and dragged Seito with her. The three had walked to Kaname's house without making awkward silence.
"Better yet, why haven't the police come yet? Aren't they supposed to come to us when our lives are on the line?", Kaname wondered aloud as Izana chuckled at his words.
"Or they could be scared that you'd be luring them to a death trap. You are strong, you know." Izana mentioned as Seito sighed.
