An inch and he'll take a mile

Give him an inch and he'll take a mile is a phrase used to usually describe a person who if provided with a bit of something would try to obtain more of such a thing. This is a phrase the head lady of this astute institute goes by.

The children cannot be provided with certain things as they will realize their worth as human beings of this floating rock. And allowing the children to recognize such a thing would only lead to her downfall. This especially applies to the child she was forced to take in Seven years ago that she feared more than anything in this household.

It was at this time of day where she felt a bit relieved after cracking open the skin of the said child hoping to beat whatever he had left in him out.

.............................

The sun began to rise before her through the worn-out windows alerting her that it was time for her morning prayer.

Every day and every night she would take time to pray to her god. Her god did not look down on her decisions and had given her the chance to properly shape the youth of today. So she thanked him every day and every night thankful for her peaceful reality.

Something that was being disrupted by a stupid boney little boy.

This morning after giving her thanks she asked her god for strength. Strength to make it through the day. Strength to defeat her enemy.

All disruptions shall be dealt with swiftly.

.............................

After cleaning his wounds the best way he could with the freezing cold water in the shared bathroom for all the children of the three-story orphanage he brushed his fingers through his jet black hair looking at himself through the only mirror he had ever seen to known in this place aside from the one in the heads office located on the top floor. He had known this because it was something most of the children in the orphanage that were allowed to set foot in her office talked about.

The only time he had been there was to receive instructions from the head lady after he had first been dropped off there. One of the many instructions was that he wasn't allowed to entire this very office.

It is said that letting an enemy into your place of comfort is like letting a gunman with a motive to kill you into your home. No one wants their safe space to be invaded and that is why the head has always protected it.

The other kids were able to enter.

But him

Oh no not him.

And so with the memory of a full-length mirror that rested itself against the white walls of the heads office in mind Seven backed away from the cracked mirror and adjusted his ripped clothes.
