I have cancer!

Brigitta saw her sweater with her inquisitive eyes and tried to remember how she got that sweater, the thought of that boy Arlo had grown away from her mind. "Oh it was that boy's sweater," she sprang. The boy she thought she had feelings for but could not even remember his name, Aldric, frowned. "A boy?" He asked, "Why would a boy give you his sweater?" "I don't know," she replied, "I guess he's a good kid, he didn't want me to feel cold so that's why he gave this to me." Aldric smiled, he had a thought of his daughter having a boyfriend and her boyfriend helping her but then he thought "She's only eight, she can't have any boyfriend." Brigitta impulsively opened the sweater. "I have to return this to him," she said "Would you come with me father?" Brigitta had no intention to return the sweater but she wanted to see his face once again, a serene and calm boy. Her world was already volatile and dismantling but that serene boy came and made her life stable just for some time and she wanted to meet him again. "Let's go, father," she said. "We should go now."

"But it's raining outside," Brigitta turned her eyes to the frosted window and could hear the water latched down in the series of cascades, it was raining heavily, she could see the steam on the frosted window and she felt disappointed, she had already thought of what she had to say in front of Arlo. "Hi nice to meet you again, I hope you are having a nice day and thank you for this sweater, it really made me feel warm, I would love to have a friend like you, I hope that we can become great friends." But it seemed to her that she had to wait for that, her heart was already beating in the thought of Arlo. "Father," she said, "Can we go in our car?" Aldric had understood why Brigitta wanted so much to go there, he knew that his daughter had fallen in love and wanted to meet that boy too, he saw those requesting eyes of his daughter and her face was so cute that he felt irresistible. "Okay, okay alright, but in one case," he said. Brigitta stared at him with her inquisitive eyes. "You have to go and ask Aida for permission!" Aldric contemplates that it's a good chance to let his daughter get closer to his girlfriend, he could see Brigitta being sad. "I won't go, you told me to go and apologize to her but this, I will not do it," Brigitta said

"Okay then, we will not go to that boy's house," he could see his daughter hesitant, he knew that her daughter likes that boy and that she would do it. "Okay father," she said "Let's go." she sprang out of the bed and saw her father smiling and glancing at him from the corner of the door. "Why are you smiling?" She asked

"Nothing, it just seems like my daughter is in love," he said "Is it true?" He said again as he started tickling her. "No, no stop it, stop it!" She said with a chuckle. "I just met him last night."

"Okay but you can tell me if you like this boy, by the way, what is his name?"

"His name is Arlo and I have no feelings for him, he's just a friend,"

"It's okay if you don't want to tell me,"

"Would you shut up and come with me?" Aldric felt normal this time, like how he used to spend time with his enthusiastic daughter, he remembered that day, the day when his wife Hattie announced to him about her cancer, she had let this doleful news restricted to herself only but she knew that it was time to tell her husband at least. "Aldric, would you come here?" She said, She could see her husband's back hunched as he walked to him, he seemed to her in pain. "Hattie, my back hurts, could you massage me? It would be good."

"I have cancer Aldric,"

"Okay but please massage my bac..." he stopped as he noticed the words of Hattie, he could hear the water dripping down from the faucet, wasps swam lazily in the sunny warm day, he could see those wasps flying outside in the garden, everything felt in slow-motion to him, he could hear those words of Hattie, those words encircled his minds, kept hearing it. "Hattie," he said, "You are kidding, right?" Tears filled Hattie's eyes, he understood that his sweet wife has only limited days. "The doctor said it's in the last stage now," she said, "I am sorry Aldric." She wiped the tears, Aldric was not moving himself, he remembered that Hattie always used to go out and that's the time she used to meet with the doctors. Aldric could hear his daughter coming from the school, the sound of a school bus seeped into his ears. "Mummy? Daddy? Where are you guys?" Brigitta walked to them, Aldric quickly wiped the tears from his eyes and turned around to face his sweet, serene and enthusiastic daughter. "How can I tell Brigitta about Hattie?" The thought kept hovering in his mind. "Are you crying, father?" Briggita asked, Brigitta had noticed the tears on her father's eyes. She could see a fake smile on his face

"C'mon let's go, Brigitta." He said impulsively to his four-year-old ingenuitive daughter, he wanted to take her to the playground, Hattie had not intended to stop them, in the most days she would stop them for the lunch for Brigitta but this time it was different, she knew that she's going to fall asleep forever and would love to see her Brigitta smiling and not being angry or the tears of her, Brigitta walked out with her father, she knew that something's wrong but she had no idea it was so bad that she would lose her mother. "Daddy, is everything alright?" She asked Aldric
