Chapter 4 Night of carnage (2)

''More than 600 million human lives have already been lost around the world, and this is only the preliminary estimate with even more people having gone missing.

However, this is not the worst piece of news that I have to inform you of tonight.

These monste-... these aliens that invaded our planet... they easily overpowered our armies and caused catastrophic loses to our government... Most of them couldn't even be harmed by ordinary bullets, while some of them were even strong enough to storm our army bases by themselves, slaughtering everyone down to the last man! We still have no idea what their bodies or the black armor that they wear are made of... but it doesn't matter... not anymore...

This is a fight that is impossible for us to win...''

The Minister of foreign affairs suddenly stopped speaking and grabbed the camera in front of his desk with his right hand and lifted it in the air, before he rotated it around slowly, showing to everyone the scene that was taking place inside his office.

It wasn't just Arthur and his grandfather, but everyone else who was watching the livestream that were completely stunned upon seeing the scene that followed.

Around the Minister's desk were 5 purple-limbed aliens, each of them more than twice the minister's size. 4 of those aliens were wearing the same black armor that Arthur had seen back in the bus station earlier today, and they were staring at the minister with evil smiles on their faces.

As for the fifth alien... its height was actually shorter than the other 4, barely reaching above 3 meters(10ft), while the armor on its body seemed to be different from the rest as well, as it was a deep red color instead of the normal black.

The expression on this alien's face however was one of indifference, as it calmly stared at the middle-aged man who was holding the camera behind the desk without showing any excitement or cruelty.

After showing to the world the scene that was taking place inside his office, the Minister of foreign affairs turned the camera back towards him, before he continued speaking with a self-mocking smile on his face

''These aliens that you all see are called the Gwong war tribe. 'Thankfully', we are lucky enough that they don't want to destroy us and take over our planet. They simply want to make an agreement with us, and as long as we agree to their terms, they have promised to leave us alone without invading our planet again in the future.''

The entire world had fallen silent as everyone watched the livestream in front of them with bated breaths.

It didn't matter if one was a high-ranking official with a lot of power, a rich businessman whose wealth was enough to bring down the economy of a country, or a student who didn't have a single penny to his name, as everyone had their eyes glued on their screens.

After taking a deep breath, the Minister of Foreign affairs then continued

''Thus, to protect you, our citizens, our government along with the rest of the governments around the world have decided to agree to the terms of the Gwong war tribe!

The terms that they set were the following:

1) Every single human on earth that has reached the age of 6 and above will have to join the intergalactic Game of the Universe: Zenith.

2) Every single human will have to provide 90 elemental stones as tribute to the Gwong war tribe every single month without fail.

3) People who fail to meet the quota for the first time will be punished by the members of the Gwong war tribe, while those who fail to meet the quota for the second time will be deemed useless by the Gwong war tribe and will have their lives taken.

4) The Gwong war tribe will not invade planet 'Earth' again in the future nor will they meddle with the lives of earthlings outside from those who have failed to meet the monthly quota.

5) The Gwong war tribe will provide to every human the means necessary to enter the 'Game of the Universe: Zenith'.

6) Any human above the age of 6 who refuses to wear an intergalactic neuron bracelet will be deemed as a rebel who goes against the pact between the human race and the Gwong war tribe and they will be executed by the Gwong war tribe.''

The Minister's words were like a bomb that had stunned every single person who was watching the livestream!

It only took a moment for people to understand what this 'pact' meant.

Humans would be forced to play a 'game' and they would have to provide tribute to the aliens every month?

''Game?''

Arthur mumbled to himself in a voice filled with doubt as he continued to stare at the screen on his phone.

Of course, it wasn't just Arthur who was confused by this, as Arthur's grandfather, old Luke was also watching the livestream on the TV with a perplexed look in his eyes, while a single question ran through his mind, as well as in the mind of every other person around the world.

Is this a joke? What kind of game could make these aliens attack their planet for it, even slaughtering more than 10 percent of their planet's population?

Naturally, similar announcements were made by every other government around the world at this moment, and as it was expected, there were millions of humans who couldn't accept this sudden change despite seeing the livestream in front of them, some of them even questioning their own sanity and wondering if they were actually dreaming.

Unfortunately for them, the Minister of foreign affairs didn't seem to have any intentions to pacify them, as he took a deep breath and continued barely a moment later

''I am not exactly sure what this 'Game of the Universe' is, but I will tell you what I-''

Before the Minister could finish his sentence, the camera on his desk was suddenly grabbed by a purple arm with thin and long fingers and was turned around, before the face of one of the aliens appeared in front of it.

With just a glance, Arthur immediately recognized this alien as the shortest one of the 5 that were present inside the office, simply because this alien was the one that was wearing the eye-catching crimson armor on its chest.

This alien had the same, uncaring look on its face as it stared at the camera in front of it, and after a few moments of silence, it suddenly its right hand on a white bracelet that it was wearing on its left wrist before it opened its mouth. Surprisingly, the next words that came from the alien's mouth were actually words that every human in the world could understand, regardless of the country they were living in and the language that they were speaking

''Slaves of the Gwong war tribe, my name is General Giu!

You have already heard from your leaders the contents of the pact between our supreme tribe and your insignificant race.

You should understand by now that the Game of the Universe is extremely important to our Gwong war tribe! As long as you can mine enough elemental stones, we will not only allow you to live, but our tribe will even allow you to buy your own lives back.

Any human who can provide 108.000 elemental stones, regardless of the element of the stones, will no longer have to work for our tribe in the future as a slave.

As for what elemental stones are and how you can obtain them... hehehe, you will find that out after you enter the game.''

People around the world seemed to be exhilarated after hearing that it was possible to buy their lives back.

No one knew what elemental stones were just yet, but no one wanted to be slaves of these aliens that had invaded their planet.

Thus, everyone waited to hear what else this alien general had to say.

''All you have to do is hand your stones to your leaders every month, and the transaction will automatically be recorded in your 'universe bracelets'. Your leaders will then hand the elemental stones to our tribe themselves.

There is no need to worry about your leaders stealing your elemental stones for themselves either, as every transaction will be monitored by our tribe.

Of course, our Gwong war tribe will provide your planet with enough universe bracelets for every single one of you to be able to enter the game... but for those of you that fail to meet the monthly quota, you can only blame yourselves!

Our tribe will not interfere with your daily lives as long as you can provide enough elemental stones every month either. We will even allow you to buy special products from us through your leaders, including the black-alloy armor that our warriors are wearing and many other things... as long as you can gather enough elemental stones of course.''

As 'she' finished speaking General Giu's lips formed an evil smile, before she placed the camera back on the Minister's desk, once again facing the terrified Minister who shivered in fear after seeing her smile.

Suppressing the horror in his heart, the Minister continued to speak in front of the camera for more than an hour, explaining to the people how they could obtain their 'universe bracelets' from the government to enter the Game of the Universe, along with many other things, before the livestream finally ended an hour later.

These past 24 hours where more than 600 million human lives were lost and the human race had lost its sovereignty were truly no different than a nightmare. Seeing the bright red blood that had filled the streets of every single town and city throughout the world, it was truly apt to call this night, a 'night of carnage'.

Arthur still stared at the screen of his phone even after the livestream had ended, before he turned his eyes towards his grandfather a moment later.
