Chapter one

In a hospital ward a young girl can be seen on one of the hospital bed.She looks to be roughly 17 or 18 years with her short black hair and round face,big eyes and little lips which makes her looks cute. She looks so pale and peaceful that one would think she is dead but the occasional sound from the Mechanical ventilators proves otherwise.She had an accident when she was 15 which led her to a coma,her family tried so many things to get her out but her condition just kept declining.

As years goes by the doctors gradually lost hope in her recovery,her parents also reduced the amount of treatment because of the cost of it and just focused on keeping her breathing but it was also hard for her family to keep up with the hospital bills. Her family is a typical middle class family,they aren't poor but they aren't rich either but after paying the hospital bills for few years it started to take a tow on them,some people did adivise them on euthanizing her or stopping her oxygen supply to end her suffering, since they can't c keep up with the hospital bills but her family gritted their teeth's, turned a deaf ear to people and worked more hours to provide the money.

My name is Bella,yep the girl on the hospital bed.I had an accident when I was 15 years which led me into a coma now I can only stay alive with the help of machines.

I can hear everything going on around me but I can't move any part of my body even my eyes. Is like am stuck in my own body with only my mind working,before the accident I didn't even have to think about blinking my eyes or lifting my arms but now even if I think about it so hard that my brain might burst nothing ever happens.

When I woke up after the accident I heard my family crying by my bed side, I tried moving my body but it felt like I was moving a huge rock. So many things ran through my mind like maybe I was paralyzed or even died with my soul floating around until I heard from one of the nurses talking to my family about my condition then I realized that I was in a coma.I thought I was going to get better as time goes by but this thought proved to be only my wishful thinking as years goes by.

I could only lay in anguish as my family grieves,eventually the doctors lost hope.I hoped that one day when my mom came to see me I could just hug her and tell her am alright or clean her tears or even just open my eyes. I hated the way I couldn't do anything and I won't lie, I wanted to die,every day I would think it would have been better if I had died in the accident,then I wouldn't have to witness my parents grief or making them work so hard inorder to keep up with my hospital bills or even keep putting there hopes up that one day I would wake up. Every single day I wanted to cry, scream and even kill my self but I couldn't,it was like I was trapped in my own body.

I slowly got used to the fact that I couldn't do anything but What alway cheers me up is when my parents visit. I have an elder sister but she wasn't much of a talker and she rarely visits because of her school.

So four years went by but it felt like ages to me going through the same cycle,it was like I was a furniture that needed to be cleaned everyday inorder to avoid dust.

Forward to the present,Today is my 18th birthday and strange enough I was excited to see my parents and sister.

Door opens

"Sarah, Dad going to pick mom downstairs wait here I will be back in 5 minutes"

"Ok Dad"says Sarah,Bella's elder sister

Door close

"Bella how you doing toady" says Sarah while dropping the things on the table and sitting next to Bella's bed.

"Am fine Sarah can you believe what the nurse did today,she played a nice song while she was cleaning me".

"Bella today is your birthday we even bought your favorite flavor of cake please get up and eat it"says Sarah while crying and tugging Bella body as if try to wake her.

"Sarah don't cry,don't cry am awake"

"Bella this is all my fault,this is all my fault"says Sarah while crying harder"

"No is not,Sarah don't blame your self and stop crying,you look ugly when you cry"

"Bella is all my fault that you're like this,if only I didn't push you towards the car that day"

"Stop crying Sarah..,wait a minute did you just say you pushed me"

"Bella I have always been jealous of you,ever since you came, all our parents love went to you,sometimes I felt I wasn't even part of the family.As we grew up their love for you increased but what about me,they sent me to a boarding school when I turned 7.I rarely saw them and when ever I came home and saw the three of you I felt even more jealous because you three looked like the perfect family and even when I came home they didn't show much care for me like they did to you.when ever I asked them why they always treat you that way,they always say is because you are the youngest in the family and since our mom cant have any children again,you are their last child"

"Now that I think about it Sarah is can of right,our parents always treated us differently but I didn't see anything to it. Poor Sarah she must have felt awful"

"So that day when we where on our way back from school,when crossing the road I saw what I thought was the perfect opportunity to get rid of you,thinking that if your gone I will have our parents love to my self like how it was before you came into the picture.

So when we where waiting for the traffic light to turn red,I saw a speeding car and since you where standing close to the road I pretend to fall and pushed you.By the time I realized what I have done you had already been hit,I was too stunned to do anything even when our parents and the police asked me what happened I couldn't say anything and it worsen when the doctor told us you were in a coma.

I couldn't stay with our parents again because I felt guilty so I applied to another school in another country.I was even more depressed when our parents called and said you weren't getting any better,I almost killed my self that night but was stopped by my roommates who told our parents about it.

They came to pick me up the next day and applied to a school near our house,I finally got the love from our parents but it didnt feel good.Everyday I resented my self for doing such an action to you but it couldn't change anything because you were already in this state,that why I rarely visit because I couldn't bear to see what I did to you"says Sarah while crying to the point that she was catching her breath"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Somewhere in the hospital,downstairs

"Honey I was able to buy the cake,you know this was the last carrot cake and I had to fight with a woman to buy it" says mrs John(Bella's mom)

"You fought? I hope the other party is alright"says Mr John who proceeds to collect the cake from his wife's hand.

"I didn't really fight I just bartered with her a little and she left the cake for me to buy"

"Yeah you didn't but anyway that good,let's head upstairs the children are still waiting for us"

"Oh yes that true I almost forgot"says mrs john who proceeds to walk faster while urging her husband to walk fast too.

"Sorry excuse me,are you Mr and Mrs John"says a nurse

"Yes we are,how may we help you"

"Doctor Ray wants to speak with you regarding the patient, Bella John"

"Ok led the way"says Mr John with a grim expression.

In doctor Ray's office

"Sir and mam please can you wait here while I go inform doctor Ray of your arrival"

"Sure go ahead"

Knock knock knock

"Sir I brought Mr and Mrs John as requested and they are in the waiting room"says the nurse.

"Ok you can send them in"

"You can go in now Mr and Mrs John"

"Ok thank you"

In the office

"Mr and Mrs John am glad to see you today,please have a sit. Am sure you know why I requested to see you toady so I will go straight to the point"

"It has come to my notice that you haven't paid this month hospital bills"

"Yes sir but we will pay it very soon please give us a little more time"says Mr John with a pleading expression.

"Am sorry but I can't give you anymore time if the hospital finds out what going on there will be serious consequences for all of us"

"I know sir but please just a little more time,we promise we will pay it very soon"says Mrs John

"Am sorry but I can't do that again,without the payment of this month hospital bill,the hospital we have to stop miss Bella treatment that includes her oxygen supply"

"No please don't do that,please just give us a little more time ..sob" says Mrs John while crying and pleading with the doctor.

"Am sorry that all I can do ...but I can give you today to say your goodbyes to the patient before her oxygen is stopped"

"Sir please,please I beg you just a little more time"says Mrs John while crying harder

"Am sorry that all I can do.....,my condolences"

"Is going to ok honey let's go"says Mr John who also have tears rolling down his face while supporting Mrs John to stand up.

"Thank you doctor Ray for all your help" come on let's go darling.

Outside the office

Mr and Mrs John make there way to Bella's ward with a sad expression occasionally one or two tears will drop from the eyes which earned them a lot of glances from people.

"Did you see room number 103 parents leaving doctor Ray office,they look so sad I wonder what happened"says nurse one

"A lot has already happened to their daughter Bella which could have made them cry"says nurse two.

"I heard they didn't pay this month hospital bill so there going to cut off their daughter oxygen supply"says the nurse who led Mr and Mrs John to doctor Ray's office.

"Wow that so sad"says nurse one

"The whole story is sad"says nurse two

"Yeah the world is cruel sometimes,such a young girl in that serious condition"

"Yeah all the doctors have already lost hope in her case"

"Yeah they are really pitiful"

"What are you all doing here get to work"says the head nurse who heard them gossiping.The three nurses quickly head to there various working stations.
