Into the Dungeon

I slowly poked my head in and the pungent reek of body odor assaulted my nose. It was almost as bad as a boys high school locker room. Scratch that, it was worse, far worse because at least they had that fancy new deodorant spray hatchet or whatever… i mustered up my courage and slowly stepped through the door. Inside it was fairly damp, moss growing around the entrance making a soft carpet to walk on for the first few feet before becoming jagged stone. I was definitely going to need some shoes or something soon, unless i wanted to tear up my feet. I slowly progressed deeper and deeper, moving ever so slowly, the sound of water dripping somewhere deep within echoing throughout the cave system. As i walked i noticed the ground change from stone to a slimy substance, after a few steps i questioned it 'wait… didnt this dungeon have slimes…?' Glancing down i notice a thin layer of slime with about 8 stones dispersed throughout the puddle. 'Oh shit… thats a lot of slimes…'

The slimes slowly started moving independently, forming into spheres with the stone like objects in the center of the mass. Not knowing what else to do I reached inside the closet slime and grabbed hold of the stone, yanking my hand back hard it came clean out. A satisfying ring filled my ears as i saw i had killed the slime.

"Level 1 slime defeated, +5 XP, slime core obtained, added to inventory."

'Neat. I guess i can either sell them or craft with them…?' I quickly returned my attention to the slimes and use the same technique on the remaining 7. After checking the nearby area and seeing that its clear i briefly checked my inventory. Before noticing i had leveled up.

Moving forwards i killed another 10 slimes netting me the needed XP to level up again before i came upon a room, in the center a small humanoid looking creature sat looking away from me. I quickly checked my stats again.

'Damn… seems based off what i know so far the XP requirements double every level… this may get hard after a while… hmmm…. How to kill this thing though….'

Suddenly the creature in front of me stirred, slowly standing up and i saw the 2 foot long club in its hands extend at its side before it turned to face me. It started moving quickly towards me and out of fear i opened the menu to give myself a few precious seconds to think… 'how do i move faster than it… that thing is ridiculous…' i looked towards the 5 free stat points and dumped them into dexterity, immediately feeling a bunch faster i looked it over one last time.

'Ok lets do this'

I exited the menus and the goblins once rapid movements became readable, i didnt exactly outclass it by any means but i was just a hair faster and managed to narrowly escape being hit full on by the club, it just brushed against my arm bruising it a little, i saw my health and mana appear in the lower left corner via a bar and numbers at the left hand side indicating how much i had left.

HP 10/12

Mana 7/7

I quickly retaliated swinging my fist at its face, hitting the goblin square in the jaw. Its head jolted from the impact as i brought my hand back. It looked at me now as an equal rather than what i realize was previously as prey. It lashed out horizontally with its club and i took a step backwards before dashing forwards again to deliver an uppercut, knocking the creature into the air a little before it landed squarely on its feet. Enraged the goblin brought its club down vertically and due to me overextending on the upper cut it landed a clean blow on my left shoulder dislocating it.

HP 6/12

Mana 7/7

I delivered a swift double kick to its chest sending it flying backwards as i landed on my back. 'What level is this thing jesus?'

As if on command the creatures type and level appeared above its head.

"Level 3 Goblin"

'Well that explains why its not easy to kill… hmmm…'

Standing up at the same time as the goblin we stared at each other for a moment, slowly circling around the room. I could tell it was hurt at least a little as its free arm wrapped around its belly. It snarled at me before charging fast as it could at me. Big mistake on its part. I swiftly sidestepped and pushed it hard against the wall, head first. As it smashed its face into the wall i heard a sickening crack as its neck snapped and it fell to the ground dead.

"Level 3 goblin defeated, 30XP awarded."

'No loot from it? Or do i have to loot the body because it has the club in its hand and the slime cores are different…?'

I slowly approached the goblin before grasping the club and it disappeared into my inventory. Feeling slightly like a perv i carefully removed the loincloth from the goblin and it too entered my inventory. At least now i might have some clothes to wear… i quickly went over the rest of the goblin and noticed a ring on its finger that i swiftly removed. Remembering a lesson from a war in ea…. 'What was the name of my old planet again…? I don't know, doesn't matter there was a war where they took teeth right? Not saying its right but given that slime cores are used in crafting maybe goblin teeth can to something as well?' I began ripping the teeth out of the goblins mouth, 15 in total and added them to my inventory.

Hopefully those will be useful, now time to check the loincloth and club out.

I imagined equipping the two new items and they phased back into existence, the loincloth around my waist and the club in my hand. Just then a system notification popped up again.

"New feature unlocked in inventory, scrapping."

"What is scrapping?"

"Scrapping allows you to break down items for their base components, be advised you will get half the amount of materials put into an item if its full durability, and less the more damaged it is."

'Hmmm… interesting… should i…? Screw it.' I decided to break down the club and see if i could get some sort of material i needed for the slime core sword.

"Common wooden club scrapped, 3X scrap wood obtained. 1x common leather obtained."

I checked the crafting of the sword again only to be in despair.
