Are you kidding? I was born for this. No seriously, I was. This wasn't nothing new. If anything I had PTSD from it. I nodded, I couldn't bring myself to speak. Things seemed to normal. As if this life was normal? He turned the knob, holding his arm for me to walk in. My feet trotted forward as I made it all the way in. Just like what I had expected one light bulb in the room and the man tied to a chair, bloody, and bruised. He was a kid, like Colton had said. But this kid was too familiar. Then his green eyes met mine.
My eyes widened as the culprit's eyes copied. No. No. It couldn't be?
What the hell was he doing here?
No. No. How the hell could this nightmare get worse?
But it just did.
I wanted to save him from his entrapment but I couldn't Thomas was right behind me. I needed to get him out. I also need to allow Thomas to give me some alone time with him, when did life become this hard? I gulped as I quickly came up with a plan. The only viable one.
" Um, Thomas." I called out. Thomas quickly approaching my side. "Is this him?"
" I believe so. But the bruises, yes." Thomas agreed.
" Do you think I can be alone with him." I began as Thomas wrinkled his nose. Not sounding to convinced. " If anything happens I'll just scream." I suggested as he took note that he would be right out side if anything. Although he couldn't let anything happen to me because of Milo. My little angel.
I approached him, swiftly and without care. This man was like my brother, but my brother would never get caught in this foolish game.
" Boss, Boss Lydia!" He exclaimed as my hand met his face without thought as it echoed. The door reopened four eyes peering his head in.
Thomas opened the door as I twisted my grin. " Sorry, he was just talking shit and I couldn't help but slap him." I meekly excused as Thomas opened his mouth but ended up nodding and closing the door once again.
" What the fucking hell are you doing here, Cassian!" I lowly hissed as his eyes teared up. I was never harsh to any of my men. I loved them as my own. However, what the fuck was he thinking in this suicide fucking mission. I wanted to smack him right, left, upside down, and right side up.
" But Boss Lydia!" He whispered as I put my hand on his shoulder almost crushing his bone, worst than it was.
I turned my gaze back to my comrade, " Now listen. And listen well. I am no longer Lydia Thornton. Okay. My name is Kaira Langlsey and that is the name I go by now. No Boss. Boss Lady or none of that shit, got it?" He nodded repetitively as I sighed hanging my head as I looked for the closest chair and sat backwards on it. " What are you doing here Cassian?" I repeated as he looked at the floor rather than my eyes. He was definitely scared. I believe from both getting the crap knocked out of him and seeing his ex boss.
" I should be telling you that Lyd-." I paused as I gave him the death stare as he corrected him, " Kaira, what are you doing here with the Dragon Clan Boss?"
It was always with the questions. Why could I not get a simple answer? " Answer my question first." I demanded as he bit his lip. Meanwhile I looked his emerald eyes turning black and blue all around. His light brown almost blonde hair shaggy and disarray, ivory skin alike to mine exposed from the waist up as his gleam muscles seemed fragile. " I was sent to kill Colton Ivar." He said what I already knew.
" Yeah, I know that. I was there with him. Now, Why? And whom sent you?" I ignored his answer wanting more details.
He blinked as if he didn't know what was the reason. Though there was always a reason. That was the way of the mob. " I don't know the reason but they told me to do it." Cassian alleged as I cocked my brow.
They? They? Who was they? Well, I didn't believe it was my brother in the first place? But who is actually running the Lion Clan. If my brother wasn't calling the shots, who was?
I reclined forward, " So who told you to do it, if it wasn't Leo?" I questioned.
" I never said it wasn't Leo." He added.
I leaned forward pressing my finger into his bruise as he winced, " Don't lie to me. Even if I'm not your boss anymore. I'm not an idiot. Leo would never do something like this. So who is they?" I said in a dry tone.
" It wasn't Leo, your right at that." He began as he met my gaze. " After you left things become chaotic in the clan, so I left along with others. Eventually I needed money so I went to a place where you get paid for killing the target and that's what I've been doing. They don't say who or why. They just tell you kill. "
I wanted to slap him. He thought he was a hard ass while he was just an ass at times. " So you left because of money?" I asked.
"Yeah. I mean what else could you want me to do?"
" Idiot! You should have stayed with Leo and all you're problems would have never existed."
" As if it were that easy. Look, Ly after you left things changed, and not for the better. Why do you think we have diminished in power. We are not what we use to be."
That I knew. I had heard that. Everyone knew that. But I didn't expect it to be this bad? Was it wrong of me to just want a normal life? Not to kill, rob, or hit people all the time. Just to be liberated of all the responsibility of taking care of everyone, except myself. Maybe I was just too selfish?
" So what are you doing here? Never in a million years would I have expected to find you. I mean in Colton Ivar's house. What did they do kidnap you?" He asserted as he snapped me out of my thoughts.
" Trust me, neither have I." I replied as I chuckled at everything that has happened in the last seventy two hours.
" Then why are you here?" He asked once more.
" Its complicated. But all you need to know is now I reside here, and I'm protecting my baby. So don't ever attempt anything against anyone here. You understand?" I acknowledged as his were completely white.
" A baby? You had a baby? Was that were you doing all this time? Getting nooky with the big guy and then became a mommy?" He said with a high pitched voice.
Once again, I wanted to slap him. Clenching my fist but I didn't want four eyes to walk in again so I didn't.Wow, the lioness in me had changed before hand I would have done so. But what can you expect I am a redeemed member of the Lord. So my wicked ways have changed. " Are you crazy, hell no. I just meet him three days ago, but the kid likes me so I'm his mom for all tenses in purposes. I am still a lady you know." I confessed as he rolled his eyes.
" Yeah right?" He mocked as I threw him the finger. " No way, in two years you haven't been able to get laid. "
" I am still technically your lady." I smirked as it drew one of his own.
" Nah, the lady I know is brunette, a bad ass bitch, and has a tat representing who she is?" He denied my existence. Of course, I was all of those things. Well expect brunette I had dyed my hair blonde to look unnoticeable as the Lion Clan Boss, but I still carried the other two. Especially the tattoo, everyone member of the respected clan carried their mark on their body. As a sign of loyalty and territory. It was to recognize who we were? Colton, Thomas, and Robertson probably had theirs too somewhere. I smartly enough placed it on my back, not easy enough to see. And apply makeup every day to hide it.
" Yeah fortunately they didn't take off your pants. Or they know who you'll belong to." I joked in a low voice.
He rolled his eyes., " You still have your umm." He attempted to point to my back as I pressed my finger against my lips and nodded. " Good to see your still one of us."
"Yep. Now, I have to find a way to save your ass." I muttered as I rubbed my forehead. How? How was I go to help this dumbo not get murder, and find a way Colton to trust him. Was there a way? Nope, no matter what there had to be a way. A way to protect Milo and save Cassian. I leaned in whispering into his ear the thing I thought would help us get away.
He held an gaping jaw as he found words to speak, " Are you sure?"
I ran my hand through my hair. I was sure, I don't know. I just had to do. I nodded as I stood up walking away.
" By the way I like you better brunette .Blonde." He declared as I smirked throwing him another middle finger as I'm pretty sure he reciprocated." I turned the knob walking out to meet Thomas laying on the wall with his arms crossed.
" Did you find anything, Miss Kaira?" He inquired.
" Yes, actually, I think it's important enough to tell Colton and maybe start a plan or something." I meekly suggested.
A hint, a calmness washed over his face. " Good. Good. We need to tell the Master as quick as possible." He advised as we proceeded to walk back.
So the sniper was one of my men. I am ashamed. But I don't get it, I just don't. Two years back I never recall once having any conflict with the Dragon Clan. Never once. Now I knew it wasn't them. However, I needed to find out. To keep Milo and Colton safe.
OOOF! What will happen next? Now Cassian is someone very dear and important character in the series so stay tuned!
