My day just got weirder.

"Hah.. I'm joking. You aren't dead, I really got you, didn't I?" The voice chuckled.

The blackness surrounding me instantly dissapeared, and I was dropped into a dry cave. The cave had a simple wooden table with a book on it, items strewn about that I can't explain and was connected to another chamber using a tunnel.

The voice wasn't attached to a body, I assumed. I found out I was wrong when I saw a old, wrinkled-faced man walking towards me. He had a white-brimmed top hat and a ragged coat.

He also had a cape, tattered at the edges, like he had been on the road for many years.

His face was compassionate, especially with those silver eyes that glinted, even though the cave was only lit with a few candles.

"Welcome to my domain."

I scrambled up, too bewildered to say anything.

"Death is real, you wouldn't want be reincarnated again, would you?"

"Maybe.." I muttered, thinking he wouldn't hear. But he had evidently keen ears.

"But.. You won't be reincarnated again." The man said.

"Let us get to the real reason you are here." The man turned his head. I could swear I heard a ticking cartilage as his neck turned, but I couldn't be sure.

He sweeped his hand towards the other tunnel. "I know you have read the king's diary. But you do not yet know of the plague that has moved to these lands.

He nodded towards me, again, I heard the ticking cartilage. Walking into the tunnel, he left me there, doubting.

"This just got intense." I said to myself as I followed.

Sorry for the short chapter, but I'm not dead. I'll post as frequently as I can. :D
