The past

Aaron got to his room to meet xue lin laid on the ground, 'what is this? she doesn't like sleeping on the bed so it's now the ground?' He thought in his mind sarcastically as he towered over her to lift her up in his arms, carrying her gently with care, he laid her on the bed.

"No no no, you are not taking me anywhere, I am not going anywhere,I cannot leave Aaron" Said xue lin as she shook her head on the bed vigorously, tears coming to fall down her cheeks as she held on to Aaron's arm tightly, she was having a terrible nightmare, Aaron could tell, suddenly she jerked her eyes open and when she saw Aaron looming over her, she hurriedly enveloped him in a tight hug.

"You are safe xue lin, you are safe, no body is taking you anywhere and we will be together okay?" He assured her as he patted her back gently caressing it with utmost care.

"You won't let them take me right? you won't let them Aaron, please don't let them, I am afraid I would never see you again once that happens please don't let them take me" She said as she cried hard into his chest which he had spared for her and didn't mind her soaking his shirt with her tears.

"I won't let them, stop worrying yourself okay?" He replied as he continued caressing her hair in a loving manner till he felt her heart beating normally in her chest which indicated that she had calmed down.

"By the way, why are you so late?, I thought that the meeting was going to end sooner or did a problem arise?" Inquired xue lin as she used her shirt to wipe her face, she had remembered him telling her to go home and have a rest that he would come later, she supposed that he would come earlier but he didn't, instead he was late making her wonder what kept him so busy.

"Yes, a hell of a problem which is making my head throb in pain now, just why the hell does that woman needs to reappear" Thought Aaron to himself, he made up a smile and shook his head lightly at her as he laid her back on the bed and laid next to her. Xue lin laid on her side facing him and he too laid on his side facing her, they both were looking into each other's eyes as they listened to their breaths.

"Nothing?" Xue lin asked again, she moved closer to him noticing the skip in his heart beat, "You have something to tell me Aaron, tell me and I'll listen without passing any comment"

Aaron felt the urge to spill out everything that had transpired in his office some hours ago, he could sense her curiosity and he knew that it was making her feel worried, he never for once thought that he could give up so easily when it comes to xue lin, his wife, he found himself opening his mouth to speak.

"Promise me you wont judge me after hearing what I have to say to you, promise me that you'll trust me" He asked her as he held unto her hand and caressed it softly, xue lin gripped his with her own hands and stroke her thumb over his hand reassuring him that nothing of that sort would happen.

Aaron believed that as long as he had told her there won't be any rising misunderstanding between them, and also he thought it was best if she heard it from him directly than seeing it on the internet where she would feel cheated and broken hearted.

"Okay, this is what happened" Aaron began as he remembered his past and most especially what had transpired that night between him and the lady sang tian, not that he really knew her personally, he met her at the bar which was considered accidental.

Aaron learnt that his father had died from lan, and he was totally devastated, their father was such a kind hearted man bene though he was strict with them. Aaron knew that what his father wanted for them was the best, to make them stand independently and not needing to rely on anyone, not to trust anyone easily and to be able to see when a person was trying to cheat them.

Aaron's father believed that his children should be the cheats rather than being cheated, he was very harsh towards them yet kind hearted which the two boys knew. His father had been taking care of them ever since their mother had left them, truth was that their father was actually sad but being the hard hearted man, it never showed on his face. It was just as if he didn't care whether the woman had left him or not but deep down, he was beyond broken.

A certain illness had befallen on their father in which the doctor had told them beforehand that he didn't have less than two weeks to leave the world, the two boys thought that the doctor wasn't professional and was talking nonsense. They never believed the doctor although they had been trying to help their father recover through the comforting way they could.

Aaron was out for his work when lan had called him on the phone that their father had passed away, it took almost his self control to stay calm and not act recklessly while driving, no matter how hard he tried to stay calm, he just couldn't. His father was the best of the best in this world and he believed that no one would ever take that spot in his heart, be it his mother who had left them.

He saw a bar at the front and decided to drop by to have some shots, he didn't know why he was even going to the bar to get drinks when his father just died, shouldn't he go to the hospital to pay his last respect to his dear father.

Aaron knew that he himself didnt know the pain of losing someone he loved dearly, he clearly doesn't have a heart that made him feel emotions instead he was like a dead robot. This was one of his qualities that made his father love him, the fact that he was heartless and cruel just like him.

Stopping at the bar and entering through the glass door, he pulled himself through the sea of people dancing around there towards where the bartender stood, ordering for more than seven bottles of drink, he gulped everything down one by one making the bartender and everyone around there looking at him in awe, "He is really a good drinker" Someone complimented him but Aaron's ear seem to haven't picked on that. He was busy drinking when a lady came closer to him to place her glass that contained wine in front of him.

Hating the mere presence of ladies, he stood up to walk away from her because he knew that he would hurt her if he were to stay another minute there.
