I Don't Care

Nalan, the blonde-haired angelic being, halts her advance as she notices Yunxi's approach towards the newly freed human, Li Xiaomi.

Her eyes narrowed, and her expression shifts from one of relief to suspicion. "Your methods are... unorthodox, Yunxi," she says, her voice carrying an edge of accusation.

"The succubus is defeated, but at what cost?" She looks at the two females who had been under the succubus's influence, now kneeling before Yunxi. "These souls are tainted. They need purification, not your brand of... mercy."

Yunxi's eyes dimmed, her body slouched in exhaustion. " Purification…?"

She slowly raised her head , and looked at Li Xiaomi, her eyes devoid of emotion. " I should end them. That's the Orthodox way, right?"

Li Xiaomi shuddered with fear, her heart thumping beyond the normal heartbeat. Beads of sweat dripped from her forehead, as she stared at Yunxi's lifeless eyes.

" No….No!"

Nalan's accusation caused tension to spike in the room. The two females, already on the brink of breaking their loyalty, looked up at Yunxi with a mix of fear and uncertainty.

Li Xiaomi, feeling the shift in the air, grips Yunxi's robe tighter, her eyes searching for comfort in hers.

Nalan took a step forward, " It's surprising…No! It isn't. You could leave me , a human, one who has never committed any atrocity to her death. But you are willing to give a hand to a demon!" She gripped the medallion in her hand tightly, as she struggled to keep her tears from falling.

Nalan's anger grew as she recounts the history of the succubus's entrapment, detailing the pain and corruption she brought to those around her.

She accused Yunxi of not understanding the gravity of the situation and the danger she put everyone in by not immediately destroying the succubus.

Her words cut through the air like a sword, resonating with the fear and confusion within the females, who now looked at Yunxi with a mix of betrayal and doubt.

The atmosphere in the once-dark temple has shifted to one of accusation and judgment.

Yunxi looked at Nalan coldly. Her cold gaze meets Nalan's accusatory ones." I understand. This is the reason."

Nalan's expression turns from anger to one of deep sadness and disappointment as she hears Yunxi's cold words.

" You understand…. You…. understand. What…? What do you….understand?"

The light that surrounded Nalan dims slightly, and the room feels a touch colder.

The females, who had been kneeling, now stand up slowly, their faces a mix of confusion and anger towards Nalan.

Li Xiaomi, still clinging to Yunxi, looks between the two figures with wide eyes, not understanding the sudden shift in dynamics.

Liena, the ancient demon, steps between Yunxi and Nalan, "Let's not lose sight of the fact that we are all here for the same purpose, Nalan. And I won't take offense to your earlier statement. ," she says calmly, her eyes flicking to the two females . "Yunxi's approach may be unconventional, but it is not without merit. It was the best decision. I don't know what you faced in that illusion or what happened after we left, but judging by your current condition, I can say, you were safe. "

" Look at them." She gestured towards Li Xiaomi and the other females.

"They are still here, still fighting for what is right despite their past. And don't ever think or say that Yunxi doesn't care for you, because you a…"

" I don't. "

Yunxi interrupted. She looked into Nalan's eyes and said " I don't care for you. I'll be honest with you,I've been protecting you, shielding you from the harsh realities of our world. And it's time for me to step aside and let you face your fears head-on.

I remember the fire in your eyes when we first started this journey together. I remember the determination in your voice when you vowed to take down our enemies. But I can't see it anymore. The dream of it becoming a spark is becoming non-existent.

I'm scared of losing , of not being there to protect those that are important to me. But I'm more scared of you holding me back, of preventing me from reaching my full potential.

I have a destiny to fulfill, and I'm not going to stand to let you in my way. I know it's hard to hear, but I had to leave you to face this challenge . I am strong enough, brave enough, and capable enough to overcome it. And I did. I did it."

Liena's hand was quick to find Yunxi's. She squeezed it softly, showing her support.

This was the first time they had heard her say something as much as this.

Nalan's gaze softens slightly, looking over at the females. They all stood still, their faces a mix of determination and regret. "You speak the truth, Liena," she concedes, though her eyes still linger on Yunxi. "But the path of redemption is fraught with peril. Sometimes, the kindest action is the most difficult one to take. I am sorry."

Yunxi's grip on her sword tightens, her eyes never leaving Nalan. "I am glad you understand , Nalan. .And I don't need your sorry's."

" Ughhh…!"
