12. First encounter with humans

Gareth now having a direction to head to was now much more confident than before. 3 months flashed by, He had gone through two mountains and fought or eluded many dangerous creatures. He had also killed smaller beasts as well as harvested some fruit and berries.

Right now he had ran out of water and lost his favourite spear when he plunged it into a big creature only to run away before he could get it out. He was now relying on the various fruit and berries to quench his

thirst he would occasionally drink the blood and saliva of the animals he killed.

Gareth had managed to craft some armour made of rock studded spider. After being ambushed by a dozen of them he had managed to kill all of them despite them having size, numerical and terrain advantage. In exchange he had his right arm ripped off and half his left foot severed, he managed to rescue his arm and crudely reattach it back. He had also used a tiny portion of his powers just to connect the veins and arteries together.

However his right arm was considered useless as he could only reattach the the veins. Just trying to reattach the blood supply had caused his surroundings to change and he accidentally revived an ancient predator that went extinct long ago and had turned into a fossil. Thankfully that predator seemed to know its benefactor and didn't tear him to pieces and just leaped away.

Gareth had just finished having breakfast and reapplied some bandages. He soon perked his head up as he heard loud laughing coupled with foul language. Gareth was camped at a cliff about 10 meters up, he slowly peered off the ledge to find underneath him a group of 5 people wondering around their campsite. Judging by their outfits they weren't civilians on a camping trip but bandits.

Listening into their conversation it seemed that they had discovered a huge group of civilians ripe for the pickings, they were discussing on what loot they were going to get and the beautiful babes that would be in that group and how'd they deal with them. Of course they would be reporting to their boss first and gather their comrades. Looking at their gear they were probably scouts and didn't have much weapons on them. Still this was an opportunity to finally get some information.

Gareth decided to make a plan, He assembled a makeshift spear rack and put a bunch of stalagmites in it. He added a trigger that would release them and rain down on their camp. He then carefully climbed down and waited nearby for the right opportunity.

He couldn't trigger the trap without making sure one of them was still alive and sure enough his opportunity arose when one of them went to take a leak.

Gareth picked up a stone and aimed at the trigger. Making sure that the bandits were still in grouped closely he threw the rock and it successfully hit the trigger. A Latch opened and pointy stalagmites rained down from above. The first few missed and this startled the bandits and made them look up only to see a couple of dozen rocky spears hurtling towards them.

Before they could evade, the rocky spikes struck pinning them to the floor some were unlucky and didn't die straight away only one bandit got skewered from head to toe. The lucky one had one leg and arm pinned. The still living bandits screamed in pain.

Gareth had dashed to the last bandit who was busy squatting behind a boulder, when he heard the screams he got startled and fell into his own fecal matter. Swearing he got himself up and tried to pull his pants up but then he suddenly saw a shadow before he felt pain at the back of the head and blacked out.

Gareth dragged the unconscious and stinky bandit towards the camp. When he entered he saw three bandits moaning in pain wailing for help. When they saw a human they immediately thought of their comrade who had went out to relieve himself, only to turn pale when they saw a man wrapped in bandages limping towards them dragging their unconscious buddy.

The bandit who only had his arm and leg pinned yelled "who are you, why did you attack us and what do you want?" Gareth heaved the unconscious bandit who still has his pants down to the others before he turned to the one who spoke. "I want information, now tell me the truth or would you rather be persuaded." As he said that he squinted his eyes.

The bandit clearly in no condition to move let alone retaliate stuttered "w-w-what are the questions?" Gareth asked for the date, then asked for the nearest civilisation as well as the explosion a few months ago. The bandit replied that it was 5268 and that the nearest settlement was in the north. Gareth immediately stepped on the bandits wounded arm, and the bandit squealed. " I was at the north months ago how dare you fool me!" Picking up large knife Gareth chopped off the bandits hand, before he asked again.

This time the bandit told the truth that there was a line of civilians that were currently heading south east. He didn't know why there was so many and planned to inform their boss about it, as for the explosion he didn't know.

Gareth tied up the half naked bandit before he woke him up asking the same question and got a bunch of profanities. He immediately became obedient after some nice 'persuasion'. Knowing that the other bandit didn't lie, he began looting their camp, sadly the vehicles they had were ruined by his own trap. The bandits were in the middle of having breakfast and it was stew.

Gareth helped himself to the stew, eating very heartily finally eating real food. After eating to his hearts content, Gareth took some of their supplies, and weapons which only were two rifles and a handgun. He also got the ammunition about 10 rifle mags and 4 handgun mags.

Gareth destroyed the leftover supplies and walked towards the now two surviving bandits. "I will not kill you as every human being should have a chance to survive even someone as low as you." With that he walked off ignoring their pleas and profanities.
