27. In terrible condition

Gareth's recovery stim had worn out yesterday, and when he went to receive food, he didn't go to the second floor instead he was supplied with a regular food package every other refugee would receive. Gareth body was declining and he had noticed it on the third day in the base, his wounds are no longer healing and various types of infections had begun growing on different parts of Gareth's body.

Gareth went to the medical officer and asked on the delay, the reason was the influx of new refugees and therefore his turn to be healed was delayed. With a nod he requested some anti bacterial and anti fungal meds and left. These meds would remove the simpler diseases Gareth body was harbouring but the more advanced ones would needed to be tested directly.

Gareth didn't want to spend his days waiting and so he began helping the various refugees to their campsite, the nearby soldiers saw a heavily injured and fully bandaged helping the newly arrived refugees and began to garner respect.

On the second day Gareth was still busy helping the refugees but the soldiers had noticed that the bandages had turned various colours plus they could smell a bad odour coming from him. Some soldiers began to enquire about Gareth and learned how he had helped plan a sabotage against a huge bandit camp, and that he had semi godly long range shooting skills, those videos were passed on to their friends and soon many of the soldiers knew of Gareth.

They began inquiring about when Gareth would be sent to the medical bay and the response was soon.

The third day, Gareth had finished escorting another batch of refugees when he felt a snap the next thing he stumbled and tried to stabilise himself against the wall only to smear disgusting fluid onto it. Lying on the ground he noticed that his foot had detached and was being held by bandages.

A nearby soldier had noticed Gareth's plight and came over to help, his name was Bron Deraley, an officer. Noticing it was Gareth he asked what was the problem, Gareth replied "my foot has detached" while holding a foul smelling black bandaged lump. Officer Deraley frowned and immediately got a crutch for Gareth. With a nod Gareth took the crutch and hobbled away.

The officer was frowning as he saw Gareth off and went to inquire an update on Gareth's turn, there was the same response of being delays which made the officer frown harder.

Gareth stopped helping refugees at this point, he was currently outside the base behind a bush putting new bandages on his body, he had requested for this as he didn't want to disgust anyone nor his residence. Pieces of rotten flesh, abnormal growths and strange liquid fell to the ground and a tiny sizzling sound could be heard. The ground was being slightly corroded by Gareth's diseased body, he had been coughing up blood last night which wasn't a good sign for him. Reapplying his bandages he returned but not before a soldier who had been supervising Gareth's venture noted the disgusting contents that had killed an earlier shrub a few days prior.

Returning to his residence he lied down on his bed, Mikage was nearby very concerned for him and it hardly ate the pst few days. Gareth stretched his hand out and petted the concerned fella, slightly comforting it, before he closed his eyes to rest.

Fourth day morning, officer Deraley had finished observing the training of new recruits, satisfied he exited the barracks to go get breakfast. On the way he past the food supply point for the refugees, there he saw a familiar bandaged man clearly in worse shape than yesterday in line, he was currently coughing out blood. Breathing was very hoarse and uneven, but his eyes were still full of vigor.

Officer Deraley immediately headed to the medical centre to inquire the continued delay of Gareth treatment, it was the same response and soldier who received him. This made Deraley suspicious, walking out he saw a bunch of soldiers coming toward him and began sharing their sorrows. "Officer even you couldn't get anything on Gareth's treatment?" With a shake of his head the group of soldiers sighed, Deraley asked "you also enquired?"

The group of men all nodded, "in fact we have been inquiring for 6 days now, many of us are concerned of Gareth he is a very respectable man."

Officer Deraley nodded then dismissed then, he then went to a unique building where he was scanned before he entered. There he scaled a few floors before he reached a door and knocked, a hearty voice resounded "enter" and moved inside.

Inside a middle aged man was typing on his monitor and looked up, his face brightened and stood up "Deraley, my dear nephew it's been a while." With a smile Deraley shook hands then sat down, " Uncle I would like to request you look up information on Gareth medical listing." The uncle replied that Gareth had been already treated but Deraley shook his head saying "he hasn't been treated and he looks horrible."

Frowning the uncle began searching on his monitor, the uncle was high up in command and had access to lots of information, in fact he was the base commanders right hand, this uncle was very stern when managing things as he searched he replied "I just looked up Gareth medical file and it was filed as treated just a few days ago, now I have clearly looked through the medical records and I can't find his record anymore." He soon phoned up a technician and with some verbal commands a response was received after 20minutes. The reply made the uncle slam his desk in fury instantly crushing it and knocking the nephew off his chair. "Outrageous!" The uncle roared which reverberated through the entire building, then he noticed that his nephew had gotten the wind knocked out of him, with a worried face he helped his nephew up. Those who were higher in rank had much greater strength and with the strength the uncle displayed although it was only 40% it was still enough to cause a small officer like Deraley to be knocked flying let alone sent unconscious.

Thankfully Deraley wasn't injured and was just a bit dizzy, the uncle had children but due to his wife's pampering had grown up to be very wilful, as for his nephew his father was currently held in prison for a false accusation he didn't commit and his mother had fallen ill from heart ache, so at the age of 8 the uncle took him under his wing and considered him better than his real children.

"I just heard that Gareth's file had clearly been tampered with, and they even tried to dispose of the file!" The uncle was still clenching his fist while helping his nephew up, although Deraley was dizzy he had clearly heard what his uncle said and replied "then we must help Gareth quickly!" With a nod the uncle called someone and spoke a few words. There was some laughter then a serious expression came to his face and explained the situation. The person at the end was a good friend of the uncle and was head of the disciplinary department his reaction was equally frightening as he was obsessed with justice and fairness, he would have turned the entire building upside down if not for his underlings calming them down.

Meanwhile Gareth had no idea what was going on and was busy eating.
