Mal put a chair next to him and they both kept looking at each other.
"-You are that much scared that you can't sit next to me." She got up and went near to him mimicking his move from that night and explained:
"-if I was scared of you, I won't make you look that miserable and maybe…I could have done more." He snickered and pull out his unharmed hand to touch her but she moved back quickly and put her hand on the hidden dagger with widened eyes.
He chuckled, bitterly and looked away:
"-yeah, not scared. Your reaction tell it all.
-you should be thankful I kept you alive.
-that's not enough for you as a revenge?
-at least I'm not the one who can't move here.
-I can't move properly but my presence itself create fear inside you that you can't sleep at night.
-it's about trust not fear.
-you really thought you can kill the devil inside me, I thought you were smarter than that. My father lost hope in me, everyone did…
-I don't care about what others think…I wanted to save the human inside of you." She said calmly and they just kept staring at each other, she wanted to ask him why but she couldn't, he broke the silence again asking:
"-why do you want to talk about?
-you seemed like the one who wanted to talk earlier, so I stayed.
-why did you lied?
-why didn't you snitch on me?
-what were you going to do if you got caught?
-lied…giving the same story like what happened tonight but I guess luck is on my side.
-at least I don't get myself an enemy every second.
-you really think he is a big threat to me.
-right you have me.
-you failed as a human and you failed as a demon. Pathetic and worthless. No wonder your father lost hope." He rolled his eyes, chuckled and added:
"-you played the saver role flawlessly. Getting almost everyone against me. Perfectly planned.
-I did nothing…you did. You could have everyone your ally but you decided to play it dirty.
-you still mad at what happened even though… nothing happened." he said the last part in a low tone with a smirk on, she was shocked and rubbed her temple before she asked:
"-so you want to tell me you wanted to play chess that night? And I was misunderstanding everything, making a fuss.
-well…" he couldn't say anything just looked at her straight in the eyes, since she was strangled him and he barely show any reaction.
"-I swear i…
Someone tried to open the door but it was locked, the maid was about to call for someone but the guard stopped her and said:
"-his fiancée didn't leave, maybe they want to spend some time together alone…it has been a rough night for both of them.
-yeah, maybe they don't anyone to interrupt them…you know. Let's leave them alone and we can check on them on the morning." The guard nod and they both left.
Mal heard their conversation and she run to open the door but the lock was stuck or someone stuck it. She turned to him eyes filled with anger, walked till she was in front of the bed, pointed at the door and ordered:
"-open the door." He was laughing with a smirk on and said:
"-who said it's me?
-Kieran, I know your stupid games and you'd better open the DAMN door before…
-before what? I didn't do anything. Chill. It's your room after all. What's bothering you that much?
-you
-I don't bite.
-I'm doubting that.
She went to check the balcony and it hoprfully it wasn't locked.
"-what are you doing?
-looking for a way out of her."
She went to the balcony and looked over for a place to jump to without breaking her neck from the third or fourth floor.
"-Mal came here!" she didn't listen to him and moved away the chairs and the table, wrapped a sheet around a one of the balcony balusters.
She jumped to the other side holding the sheet with her hands firmly, sliding down slowly but the sheet couldn't hold her weight and started to tear up and she was halfway through.
What made things worse that the pillar started to shake and almost broke in half, "-why do I have to choose the broken one? Stupid!" she said to herself and tried to look for a near window and luckily she found one but she have to swing to reach it.
She looked up and found that she have to make it quickly and precisely or she will fall and probably die. What a pitiful death for a legend.
She started to swing left and right, at the fifth attempt she could hold the frame with the tips of her fingers. However the pillar broke and she felt herself falling.
She screamed and held the sheet with her life as if it was her last escape…everything stopped…she opened her eyes: She is still hanged up between air and land.
She hesitantly looked up and found Kieran holding the end of the sheet with his hand, his face peeking through pillars showing pain.
He felt her absence and limped to the balcony ignoring his leg hurting. He saw the pillar about to break and he hurried up and hold the sheet with his unharmed hand and used the other one to push back his weight on one of the pillars.
He fixed his two feet on two pillars used the two of his hands to pull her and the sound of tearing was heard. Sweat started to form and his shoulder started to ache but he pulled her quickly and before she could reach the balcony the sheet was totally torn.
For the second time, she felt something holding her this time it was warm and sweaty.
She felt more than happy and excited to see him.
He pulled her with all the effort he had left and laid on the cold floor of the balcony catching his breath. She couldn't look down again she run to him and shook his body.
"-Kieran…Kieran wake up…are you okay?
-I am going to throw you myself the next time you try something dumb like this." He looked at her angrily but she smiled before hugging him tightly.
He groaned from pain and she moved back quickly, small droplets of blood started to form on his shoulder.
"-let me help you.
-leave me alone I'm better without your help."
He tried to stand up but it he went back yelling from pain due to his tight.
"-I'm better alone." She mimicked him and out her hand under his unharmed shoulder and tried to pull him up but he stopped her.
"-you can't I am too heavy for…" However she managed to put him standing on his feet, he was surprised…
