After dinner, Diu, and Enlai prepared for a weekend with their son in the hospital. As they left for the hospital Enlai pondered, "How many an evening have I lost in the past over my ambitions to excel and expand? Now, that I started to find time for them, we are again in pain."
As they reached the hospital, they sat down in quietness with Diu holding the hands of Bao, hoping that the cheerful and innocent face of her son would come back to life like before.
Their chain of thoughts was distracted as the doctor walked in to check on Bao. After he checked on him, he said, "We can start reducing the use of sedatives by Tuesday, but he should refrain from any mental stress. The concussion has almost healed."
"He has lost his spouse in the accident. Once the news is shared with him, would it adversely affect his path to normalcy."
"It depends on how hard it hits him, and how well he can cope up with the loss. It would be too early to predict the outcome of the mental stress of trauma then."
"Do we have a way out?"
"We will do a scan on Tuesday to check the exact status of the concussion. If the concussion is healed, then we can put him off sedatives, or else we will continue the sedatives. In the second case, we will do another scan on the fourth, and if the reports show expected results, we can start reducing the sedatives, from the fifth onwards. By then, the concussion should heal, and he can start physiotherapy. Prolonged usage of sedatives is not advisable, unless other than in emergency cases. He must face the reality eventually, the earlier the better. You both should take proper rest as well, as relatives of patients with trauma usually end up with health concerns as they take care of the patient without taking proper care of themselves."
"We will surely do that doctor. Thanks for your concern expressed."
Li Enlai then looked at Diu, and said, "Did you hear that? You cannot neglect your health, both mental and physical. The mom of my Bao has to be a strong warrior."
Diu smiled, and rested her head on his shoulder, and said, "I am relieved to hear, that he is all right."
Li Enlai placed his hand around her shoulder, and said, "The sun will once again shine brightly for us. Be rest assured. We need to visit the Wu family tomorrow morning. Now let us go, and rest."
They walked hand in hand to the adjacent room and slept off in hope of a new break of day.
