Chapter 53 -The grand engagement.

The engagement was a grand affair, with the relatives and friends of the Liu household marking their presence to shower their blessing on the couple.

During the engagement, Mr. and Mrs. Brown walked in to congratulate the couple along with their daughter.

Liu Taio introduced them to his fiancé and said, "This is Chynna my fiancé, and they are Mr. and Mrs. Brown, and their daughter Olivia."

Ms. Brown held out her hands and congratulated Chynna, "Wish you guys a happy married life. It's a pleasure to be a part of this celebration."

Chynna smiled, shook her hands, and replied, "You're welcome Ms. Brown."

As they were leaving Zhao Fai stepped in to introduce his friend, and Mr. Brown looked on intensely at their conversation while stepping down the stage.

Li Enlai who had been a silent observer to the turn of events picked up his phone and spoke to someone.

After the engagement, as the guests left for their respective homes, Zhao Fai walked up to Li Enlai and said, "It's a joy to have my daughter blessed with him."

Li Enlai looked at him seriously, held his shoulder, and said, "Fai, I'll have to get your family covered under security, till we do not have Gao Shing arrested. I am serious about this. It just came to my notice that you and your family could be under threat. With the marriage preparations in full swing, there could be a chance of him walking in to harm you."

Zhao Fai gazed at the couple on the stage and asked, "Where have you guys reached in your investigation?"

Li Enlai shrugged and replied, "Our suspicions over Mr. Brown also turned futile. He is a different person. Today, Mr. Chen had been to the passport office to check. Gao Shing has never been issued a passport either. Moreover, no one has any information, about his whereabouts after the accident. It is just that he vanished into thin air. How did you get to know him?"

Zhao Fai turned to him and replied, "I was supplying goods from our farm to their hotel then. I am so sorry to have you guys muddled in this."

Li Enlai pointed in the direction of Mr. Brown and replied, "Then you must be knowing Xu Huan also."

Zhao Fai tilted his head and asked, "The sunshine boy of the hotel? Yes, of course. He was madly in love with Zhu Hee."

Li Enlai pointed to Mrs. Brown and replied, "He married Zhu Hee and you just saw them now. They are Mr. and Mrs. Brown. No wonder he kept staring at you."

Zhao Fai fixed his gaze on them and asked, "Why didn't he talk to me then? I was the one, to convince his sister to forgive him when he met with that accident, that year. He had a long stay here after the accident, as it took time for him to recover. It is God's grace, that he survived after those terrible head injuries. The left side of his face had been scraped out. His sister had for a long time felt guilty, that their arguments might have led to that accident."

Li Enlai narrowed his eyes and replied, "But it doesn't look like he has a scar now."

Zhao Fai nodded and replied, "He had the support of the Australian couple, and they were the ones who sent him money, for the treatment as well. He was planning to get plastic surgery done in the US. In fact, he was supposed to meet me before leaving, but he did not turn up and left without saying goodbye."

"Are you sure, that he had a scar on the left side?"

"Yes, I am sure of it. I used to dress him up. Hence, I know it very well. That boy has nothing against you. He is not that type who gets into any kind of dirty business."

"The one in the video has a scar on the right side. You are right. We were on a goose chase till now. I do not want to take any chances with the lives of our loved ones. The security team will be covering your family from now on."

As Li Enlai got up to walk up to Liu Ru, Zhao Fai asked, "Wait a minute. Are we missing a crucial point? How did Gao Shing land in Zermatt without a passport?"

Li Enlai turned back, pointed with his finger, and said, "That's a valid point. How did he land up in Zermatt if he did not hold a passport? I need to discuss this with my team and the police officers tomorrow."

Li Enlai then walked up to Liu Ru and said, "I need you to do me a favor."

"What are you planning? I saw, that your mind was engrossed in Mr. Brown."

As they walked back to the comfort of their suite's Li Enlai discussed certain things with Mr. Liu Ru.
