Prologue
Have you ever heard the voice that whispers to your ears?
Have you ever seen that person?
Have you ever succumbed to those whispers?
Those voices would always be my ally,
"I'm your ally"
That was what the voice told me
"I would never betray you"
"I would always be there for you"
"I would do anything for you to be happy"
Those words would always be whispered like a broken record player.
I would always think, "I see, you're my ally. Would you be with me 'till the end?"
These whispers would soon be the reason I would be able to put my plan into action. These whispers were the reason why I could do this. It's those whispers that I can get them. Those whispers were the reason for this.
Those words gave me comfort, they gave me strength. It all started from those whispers.
Let me ask again, have you ever heard those whispers?
Because I have, and it made something in me change
Chapter 1: The Beginning
" Hey! Jay you're getting cocky talking to her"
"Bu…but she only asked for a copy of notes for the first subject"
"Huh! Did I tell you to talk! You're just a nerd, know you place"
The bullies started to kick, punch the boy into a bloody pulp. As the boy struggles to protect himself from those punches and kicks. A teacher passed by through the halls and could clearly see what was happening.
"Plea…plea…please help me, tea…teacher"
However, his plea was ignored and the teacher continued to go where he originally was headed, but before going his own way, the teacher smirked at the boy. As the boy looked at that smirk, his face became pale as a ghost. At that time the boy felt different kinds of emotions.
'Anger. Frustration. Fear. Anguish'
*Kriiiiing*
The bell rang and the bullies went back to their own classrooms.
"Tsk. You better be grateful that the bell rang, and you better not talk to her once again or else. GOT IT!"
Before parting ways with Jay, the leader of the group spoke in a menacing way and told Jay,
"If you tell anyone about what happened here, you will be expelled, you should know who my father is don't you?"
As the Jay tries to stand up on his own to feet, he could not due to the exhaustion and pain all over his body. That was when a student, who was his classmate saw him and helped him go to the nurse's office.
" What happened to you Jay"
The girl asked worriedly as if Jay was about to die.
"Nothing"
"How is it that you are bruised all over, of course there would be something that happened"
"It's really nothing"
"Wha…!"
The girl didn't continue to speak as she saw the eyes of Jay that said "Please don't ask anything" with a strong will behind those words.
Silence enveloped the nurse's office.
"Ok, that should do it… but really why isn't the nurse here when there is a patient that is injured"
"Thank you, Kate"
"No problem, but if you feel comfortable speaking about what happened one day, I'm here to lend an ear to you"
Jay looked down to avoid eye contact with Kate.
"Yeah, thanks"
Jay smiled. However, Kate could not see his smile, due to his head looking at the floor.
For rest of the day, no one asked anything, some teacher didn't even show any concern about Jay. However, for those who was concerned about Jay could not make eye contact with him. Even his classmates distanced themselves from Jay so that they won't get involved in the bullying. They would just avert their eyes from him.
"I'm home"
"Oh, Jay your ba… what happened to you!"
"It's nothing mom, I just slipped and fell down the stairs at school"
"There's no way that could be true! Tell me the truth now"
"I'm telling you it's the truth, Mom"
Jay averted his mother's eyes, clenching his elbow in order for him to not show any pain in front of his mother who was stressed due to work.
"I got it, but don't do that again, ok?"
"I got it, Mom"
After talking to his mother in front of the door, Jay went to his bedroom like he was rushing.
"Was that Jay?"
A man inside the living room asked the mother.
"Yes, but it seems he was bruised all over his body" (Mother)
"What!" (Father)
"He just won't tell me what happened, he is stubborn and if we asked him directly, he won't tell us" (Father)
"Your right, should we call the school?" (Father)
"I think it would be useless, remember the last time Jay had bruises they won't tell us anything"
Both of them sighed, but deep down they felt anguish because of the state their son is in and they couldn't do anything to help him.
The next day~
As Jay was walking towards his classroom, he heard voices arguing against each other. He hid behind the staircase in order to not be seen by those people. As he peeked to see who was arguing, he saw Kate talking to the group of bullies.
"Hey, you guys… stop bullying Jay"
"Bullying? We were just messing around, roleplaying as boxers"
"Roleplaying? You call that roleplaying?"
"Yes, its just roleplaying within a circle of friends"
"Just ROLEPLAYING!? JAY WAS BRUISED ALL OVER"
"Woah, Chill, I also got injured, here look at my arm"
The leader showed his arm covered in bandages to Kate. Kate's eyes widened as she saw the bandages on his arm. The leader continued to explain.
"See, I also got injured because we got into our roles too hard"
"…"
Kate could not say anything except,
"If I ever see you bullying Jay, I'll report you to the principal"
"We would never do that"
The leader said in a very reassuring voice that they would never bully Jay.
As Kate left the group of bullies, they smirked then laughed out loud.
"Did you see her face, 'Don't bully Jay or else I'll report you to the principal"
The leader mockingly imitated Kate as if what she said was something
Irrelevant to him. As they left the hallway to go to their respective classrooms,
Jay was left biting his lips and clenching his fist.
Chapter 2: The End and Start of Change
Jay was still just standing in his hiding spot clenching his fist, and his
lower lip which he bit began to bleed. At this time something inside Jay
was beginning to change, at this time it was only slightly.
(How can I be so weak; I couldn't even do anything to defend myself)
Jay thought
*Kriiiing*
The bell rang; however, Jay was still in his original position deep in his
thought blaming himself for being weak that he couldn't fight back against
his bullies. He blamed that because of him Kate got involved and may be
targeted by the bullies. Jay began to bite harder on his lower lip and it began
bleeding more, soon after tears began to well up in Jay's eyes.
After a few hours~
Jay was in class and was approached by the same girl who was the reason
he got beaten up by the bullies. As the leader of the bullies saw this scene
sent Jay a glare that was full of rage that if it was a weapon it could kill a
person.
"Jay, can you lend me your notes once again?"
"…"
Jay who saw the leader of the bullies, knew that if he spoke to her, he would
once again be beaten to a pulp.
"Jay? Why aren't you responding?"
The girl tilted her head all cutesy and saw straight into Jays eyes while asking
the question.
"…"
Jay still didn't speak, while being glared with pure anger by the leader of the
bullies.
" Jay… are you ignoring me? Jay?"
(Please, I beg of you, please just ask another person, ask the class representative.)
Jay thought
"Hey! Why are you ignoring her, are trying to bully her?!"
(I'm not, please just leave and ask another person)
"I said are you ignoring her!"
The girl's friend shouted and was heard throughout the classroom
"Hey! Are you being cold to her!"
"Hey! You could just lend her your notes"
"Do you think you're a big shot? Just because she asked for your notes?"
As other classmates began to criticize Jay, he was slowly being cornered. Some of the boys began to glare at Jay.
"Do you hate me Jay?"
"…"
(I don't hate you, but please just leave)
Jay tried to communicate through their eyes, but it was futile because the girl started to cry.
"Look at what you've done, you made her cry! Is just lending a simple notebook not possible? Or do you think that she isn't worth your time?!"
The girl's friend shouted out loud
"Do you think you some hot shot"
"How dare you make a girl cry!"
"Do you think you're so great by making a girl cry!"
"Just lend her your notebook, is just lending it to her for one period really hard for you!"
Jay became more cornered, and he started to feel anxious. As Jay was still sitting in his seat not saying anything one of his classmates who was a boy, suddenly grabbed Jay's uniform's collar.
"Wha…what do you think you are doing?"
Jay asked the boy, however the boy only glared at Jay as if his glare could kill him on the spot.
"Your trash for making her cry, don't be cocky just because she asked you for her notes that time"
Jay was confused and felt more anxious.
"Please stop, maybe Jay has his own reason"
Said the girl who was crying
"Are you sure? He made you cry"
"Yes, please let him go"
"Tsk, if you say so"
Then the boy who was grabbing Jay's collar let his collar go, and before going to his seat he faced Jay and said to him
"Don't be too cocky, if you ever make her cry again, I'll personally make you regret ever doing that"
The boy's tone was that of someone intimidating the other party, and before even seeing Jay's answer he went back to his seat after helping the crying girl.
After that one-sided conversation Jay saw the leader of the bullies glaring at him with even more fury than the last time Jay saw him.
After Classes~
"Hey Jay, come with me for a second I have something to ask you"
"Ok"
Jake spoke in a low voice which only the leader of the bullies who asked him to go with him could hear.
At the back of the gymnasium
*smack*
Jay was suddenly surrounded by the bully group and was punched by the leader of the bullies.
"Wh…wha….what was that for?"
Jay knew the answer already, however he couldn't help himself but to ask
"Oho…I see you forgot that you made her cry, let me jog your memories. GET HIM, SHOW NO MERCY"
Jay guarded himself so that he could protect himself by the punches and kicks that was coming his way.
"HEY, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING TO JAY"
The one who shouted and saw what was unfolding was none other than Kate
"We are just doing some roleplay, what does it look like"
"ROLEPLAYING?!, I HAVE NO TIME FOR YOUR LIES, I WILL REPORT YOU TO THE PRINCIPAL"
Kate went straight to Jay who was laying on the ground and had bruises on his body.
"Let's go"
"I… I'm really fine *cough* *cough* Kate"
"You're not fine at all"
The leader of the bullies glared at Jay, when Jay and Kate left the leader of the bullies smirked and was holding in his laughter.
(Go report us, that is if they will believe your story anyway)
The leader of the bullies thought.
In the principal's office~
"Principal, please expel Nate and his group for bullying Jay"
"You just went here and say that?!"
"Once again, principal please expel Nate and his group for bullying Jay"
"We need to talk with Jay's parents and Nate's parents, I will call them later and we will talk with each other to know if what you said was the truth. Come here again tomorrow to tell the story from your perspective"
Chapter 3: Slowly Breaking
"WHAT DID YOU SAY SIR!!"
"Mr. Chaton, please calm down. As I said Jay will be expelled for injuring and being violent towards his fellow peers"
Yesterday
"I can't believe the principal just said that, Jay, you need to make sure you tell your parents this in order for Nate and his group to be expelled and their bullying will stop"
Kate said to Jay in a slightly irritated voice
"Y…ye…yeah"
Jay smiled, however his eyes were dead
"I'm worried about you, please take care of yourself"
Kate said in a compassionate voice towards Jay
At Jay's home
"Mom, I'm back"
"Oh, Jay your-"
As his mother took a good look at him she immediately rushed towards the front door to look closer at what happened to his son.
"Jay! What happened to you"
His mother yelled at Jay, her yell was filled with worry, anguish, and anger
"Auntie, we need to talk to you and uncle"
Kate intervened between Jay and his mother
"Kate, do you know what happened to Jay?"
"Mo…mom, I'll tell you and dad what happened so please let's talk in the living room rather than the front door"
Jay, Kate and his mother went to the living room of their house and sitting there reading a newspaper was Jay's father
"Oh, your ba-"
Before Jay's father could welcome back Jay, he could tell that it was not time for that
"Dad, I need to tell you and mom about something important that you need to know"
As Jay said this Jay's dad felt nervous
…..
"So, something like that happened to you Jay"
The first one to speak up first after Jay shared what he had been through at school was Jay's father. Just as Jay's father said those words he felt anguish and anger at himself that he didn't notice what his son is going through.
*sob*sob*
Jay's mother was crying that could fill up a whole lake
"It's ok auntie, tomorrow we'll teach Nate and his group that doing those things are horrific, I'm sure they'll be expelled from our school and Jay won't be bullied again"
Kate held back her tears in order to soothe Jay's mother
"Thus, Dad. Mom. I would like you to go to school with me and Kate to school in order to complain to the principal"
"Of course, we will go even if it rains tomorrow or even if there is a tsunami"
Jay's dad declared with all his will and might
Present time~
"THAT CAN'T BE, WHY IS MY SON BEING EXPELLED. THEY WERE THE ONE'S WHO BULLIED MY SON, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND"
"However, Mr. Chaton there were many students that witnessed that it was the other way around. They said that Jay here was the one who started the fight first, not Nate's group"
The principal hid his mouth with his hands as he was talking, no one in that room could see it but he smiled wryly as if making light of the situation
"I BELIEVE IN MY SON; HE IS NOT THAT KIND OF PERSON"
Jay's father declared with full confidence in front of everybody inside the principal's office.
"First of all, Mr. Chaton please don't shout. Second, I know that all parents wouldn't want their children to be violent and a bully at that. Lastly, Nate and his group are injured all over, Jay was only injured because Nate and his group fought back."
The principal told to Jay's father as if refuting the questions that will be asked later
"I saw it with my own eyes, Nate and his group were the ones who was bullying Jay, not the other way around"
Kate tried rebutting the principal's words
"Ms. Kindler, there were many students and teachers who came in front to share what they witnessed. In addition, we can't be too sure that you are not lying to us. Maybe you are lying to us because you don't want your childhood friend to be in trouble, because you knew that Nate and his group would report Jay's unacceptable behavior"
Jay, his mother, his father, and Kate felt despair that is nothing compared to whatever anger they felt at first. The despair of not being heard and then someone who is very close to you being accused of something he didn't do, and was being punished for it
….
"We have nothing to talk about anymore, once again Mr. and Mrs. Chaton your son will be expelled from our school. In addition, Ms. Kindler you will be suspended for 2 weeks for lying about what truly happened"
Despair and anguish overcame Jay's party.
Later that day at Jay's House
"LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID TO OUR DAUGHTER, SHE WAS SUSPENDED BECAUSE OF YOUR SON'S DOING"
Kate's father was furious and his face was red with rage and was pointing ay Jay who was at the floor sitting after being punched by Kate's father
"Please stop, dad, please"
Kate who was holding back was crying trying to calm down his father
"DON'T STOP ME KATE, IT'S BECAUSE HE WAS VIOLENT THAT YOU WERE SUSPENDED"
Kate's dad declared as if it was the truth
"Please stop, I beg of you, as old friends please forgive my son"
Jay's dad biting his lower lip so that he wouldn't do anything to make the situation any worse bowed to Kate's dad
"FRIENDS?!... WE AREN'T ANYMORE, IF YOU WANT TO BLAME SOMEONE BLAME YOUR SON. KATE WON'T EVER HANG OUT WITH JAY EVER AGAIN, CONSIDER THIS AS YOUR WARNING"
Kate's dad declared and then went out of Jay's House
*sob*sob*
Tears was flowing down Jay's face as if it was an endless waterfall at the same time Jay's mother was also crying because of the current situation
"I… I…. I'm sorry dad, mom, I… I…"
Jay's dad and mom immediately hugged Jay to comfort him, when they saw Jay like that, they immediately felt anguish and anger at themselves because they were powerless to help their son
"We believe in you Jay; we both believe what you and Kate told us"
Jay's parents reassured Jay so that he wouldn't beat himself up because of this
However, his parent's consideration caused both relief and dismay which in turn caused something within himself to almost snap or as if a fragile glass slowly showing some cracks.
