The shadows slipped up the rocks as though the world were drowning in darkness.
Haorang gestured at Chao xua who glanced at the place to make sure there wasn't any trace of demon guards.
Once the path was clear, he slipped the key into the lock and it clicked open, he opened it and slowly stepped out with Haorang trailing behind making sure no one was at sight.
They climbed the stairs and quietly stepped out of the dungeon.
The demon guards were sound asleep at the main gate, Chao Xua glared at their ugly faces, he wanted to kill them at the spot but Haorang held him back.
"Control yourself and let's go." he whispered.
Chao Xua nodded but it clearly wasn't over, he'll definitely be back for them.
They stepped out through the main gate and got into the palace, their eyes widened noticing the change of the whole place.
The once beautiful palace which everyone in Lijiang adored has turned to a battle ground. The whole place looked dark and gloomy except for the few candles which lit up the hallway in a boring manner, what has Weng Lie turned this place into?!
"Are we actually in the right palace or did we take a wrong turn through the stairs." Chao Xua implied but Haorang was more focused on getting out of there.
"Let's keep moving."
They walked through the hallway staying alert, the place was dead silent and not even the sound of a beetle was heard.
They made it to the stairs but met a couple of demon guards on the way.
"Hey!, who let you out?!" they raged.
Chao Xua smirked and positioned himself for a fight including Haorang.
"We'll do it like this, I'll deal with demon ugly face and demon stone head while you take on demon rabbit legs and demon fire breath."
Haorang rolled his eyes at Chao xua's words.
"You've been in the dungeon for a whole year and all you did was gave the demons nicknames?"
"It's true what they say, old habits die hard." he chuckled and they lunged at the demons.
......
Mei jingjing stayed in a room she rented for the night, she couldn't sleep and instead gazed out the window staring at the falling snow, Li Jie must be out there under the cold, she wondered if he got a warm place to stay or not.
She felt restless and worried all the time, back in the woods she could swear she felt his prescence, she just couldn't find him, he couldn't be hiding away from her could he?
She immediately shook off the thought the minute it came, that was impossible.
She wondered just how long she's going to keep suffering like this untill she finds him, what he's went through wasn't fair on his part, why do the good ones have to suffer so much?, that she couldn't understand nor give an answer to.
She continued to gaze out at the snow untill she slept with a heavy heart.
....
The sun was out, the crisp air and the clear sky energized Li Jie's thoughts.
Chyou fen was showing off her skills to Li Jie, the moves leader Chang had thought her recently.
Li Jie watched with a smile, her poses where good and the way she moved her wooden sword was out of this world, she's Super talented at swordsmanship and at such a young age too.
"What do you think guardian angel?" she asked the moment she was done, her big blue eyes gazing at him expectantly.
"Hmmm." he pretended to think about it making Chyou fen's expectation slowly die away but he smiled.
"You where extremely great, your parents are going to be so proud."
Her blue eyes lit up with delight. "Really?, my father always told me how great I was when it came to my skills but I thought he just did it to make me happy."
"Well he's saying the truth, I'm sure zhang Wei would be so happy where ever he is to see you practicing hard for once."
Chyou fen smiled. "Yes, I just hope he's comfortable where he is and I'm not worried any longer since you said he's in a better place, I just miss him."
Li Jie got to his feet and held her hand. "Come on, you did so well today, so I'm going to treat you."
She grinned. "Really guardian angel?"
He nodded making her grin from ear to ear.
"Okay, let me grab my cloak."
She said and ran out to fetch her cloak.
.....
At Lijiang kingdom, Chao Xua and Haorang had finish dealing with the demon guards and snuck up on a few human guards stealing their outfit, Chao Xua felt comfortable now, he looked like the real guard that he was.
They stepped out of Lijiang kingdom and hurried out of the palace with demon guards chasing after them.
Fortunately, two demon guards just got back from an errand giving Chao Xua and Haorang the opportunity to escape as they knocked both demons out and got into their horses and rode really fast from the palace.
The demon guards where enraged. "They mustn't get away, catch them!!"
They let out their beast pets which went after them.
Haorang was the first to realize they where being followed and made a quick gesture at Chao xua who understood immediately.
They both slowed down a bit and threw a bag of tiny silver sharp balls on the grounds, demons hate silvers and tried to avoid the silver balls which slowed them down giving Chao Xua and Haorang the chance to escape.
They stopped at their tracks feeling angered they got outsmarted by humans.
"Darn it!"
...
Mei jingjing woke up as the sunlight cast a lumniscient glow on her pretty face, she heard a sudden loud bang on the door making her sit upright.
"Mei jingjing, I Know you're in there, come out now!"
Her eyes widened at the familiar horrifying voice, how did Weng Lie spot her so soon?!, she got down from the bed and was completely shakened, her face had gone pale and her eyes glassy with fear.
"Open the door or else I'll break it open!"
Mei jingjing glanced around for a way to escape, think Mei jingjing, think. Her eyes averted to the windows.
Right now the windows where her only option on getting out of here, she opened up the window but her eyes widened as she gazed at the length, if she dares make an attempt to jump, she might die.
"What to do, what to do" her mind raced, she could hear Weng Lie's men trying to break the door open, an idea quickly came up, she carried all the blankets and bed covers she could find tieing them up to form a rope.
The moment she was done, she tied it to the edge of the window and gazed at the length, it didn't reach the floor but it was enough for her jump down, she hurriedly climbed out and once she got to the length, she jumped down, the snow forming a soft landing for her.
Her horse was tied to the brim close to where she landed, she immediately loosed it and got untop of Ilya.
"Come on boy, giddy up." she flapped the ropes and Ilya rode off dashing into the woods.
The door finally broke loose and Weng Lie with his minions stepped in.
They glanced around but there wasn't any sign of Mei jingjing, Daiyu's heart calmed a bit seeing Mei jingjing wasn't in the room, they searched the whole place but she was nowhere to be seen, Weng Lie raged breaking a table in half.
"Where is she?!"
"Emperor, you might want to see this." one of his demon guards said.
Weng Lie walked up to the window and saw the cotton's which was tied to form a rope and the horses footsteps could be seen in the snow.
He rumpled the sheets and tossed it aside. "She escaped." he suddenly smirked. "But she left a trail for us to follow."
He gazed at his demon guards. "Follow that trail and bring her to me."
They bowed, Daiyu wanted to go with them so she could help Mei jingjing but Weng Lie stopped her.
"You're not going anywhere." he stated.
"You'll be staying here."
Daiyu scared he might be suspicious agreed to his words and stayed behind.
Mei jingjing, you're on your own at this point.
