The people cant wait for some action, Leo is preparing himself in every way possible to atleast stand a chance of what's to come. And exactly eighty one minutes after Leo presents himself to the crowd, Cinn appears.
A huge creature covered in scales which seemed to be tougher than hard rock. Her eyes dark red and her hair accomodated unseen smaller creatures. The audience who were waiting for their mighty prince to impress them with yet another display of his strength, no way in hell expected his opponent to be something coming out of the ocean.
While all of this, Leo stood still not because he felt like intimidating the monster; but because he wasn't sure of what was happening.
Leo had fought many wars and met every kind of creature ever in existence; because of which he developed an amazing analytic sense, which allowed him to measure the unseen aspects of the world, especially human philosophy and emotions with such precision that he could be aware of any sort of intention or emotional variation within the psyche of an individual. Thus keeping him aware of to whom he should sell his trust. Which to human eye felt like he could read minds. And this was a major contributor in the tales of the mighty prince; because not only was he aware of a feat of his like this existed, but also he had mastered it to such extent that he could manipulate one's mind without even doing much; which often gave him a upper hand because he literally was a step ahead of whoever his enemy.
But this time it was different, even though Leo was at his peak of what he does, he still couldn't figure out the intent of the creature. He could read that the thing in front of him was a monster, who hungered of destruction and human flesh; but he could, for some reason also read that the continent destroying beast wasnt evil; which didn't add up neither as per a perspective from Leo nor from the demon itself.
It was quite a disturbing experience for Leo, because in one ear he could hear the screams of the people caused by just the appearance of Cinn and the frightening roar of the Goliath; and in the other ear he could hear a delicate tint of kindness and holiness of which he knew no source, which made it even scarier.
Leo started to loose his grip, his sword almost fell from his hands, his legs almost gave up on him; in fact he gave up on himself. He no longer believed that he could be the chosen one; so much so he frustratedly screamed inside, 'Why did Hamitra tell this to me?'
'Why me?'
Leo fell on the ground, his face half covered in black soil.
'Why me?'
His words slowly started to be audible.
Lying on the ground with his face touching the ground Leo asked in a clear voice...
'Why me?'
Cinn didnt leave a second and started moving her gigantic hand towards Leo.
'Why me?'
This time the frustration of the prince could be heard.
The hand grew bigger in perspective of Leo.
'Why me?'
The crowd was a chaos, the only thing Leo heard was screams.
'Why me?'
'Why me?'
'Why me?'
The hand just a second away from Leo's skull froze, the entire surrounding of Leo froze; as he transported himself into his heart where he wept and kept repeating the same question,
'WHY ME???'
The second ended, blood splattered over the black soil of Dion. But there were only drops of red human blood in the pool of the black demon blood of Cinn on the shore. Because he had stabbed the monster through the wrist attaching her to the shore. And the red human blood dripping was from Leo's hands, which was wounded because he gripped his sword so tight that the hilt peirced all the way through the skin to his bones.
The roar of Cinn, quickly transformed into screams of pain, not like the wound created by Leo, a human; was a huge bother for the demon herself; but the way he twisted the sword so quickly inside the wound, but so featherly that the tissues didnt tear apart in an instant, instead it was tearing inch by inch with each passing second. Not to ignore the fact that salt to an open wound can be really painful, and considering the size of the creature and the wound created by Leo, and also the fact that sea salt weakens demons to fatal extent, all contributed to the high pitch cry the goliath made.
It was so high pitched that few people on the platform died just by hearing the frequency. And the close distance where Leo stood only meant one thing, no hearing for him for the next ten years.
His ears were bleeding, not only that but his intenal organs were also being aggressively moved due to the vibrations. Leo didnt loose his grip, he spat blood and was on the verge of being drop dead if he weren't this determined on his motive. Leo was def by now, he loosened his grip for the left hand, as his right palm was embedded with his sword. He freed and loosened all of his muscle on the left side, so that he could focus all his strength and shift it to the palm of his right hand, or now the human part of his sword.
'I dont want to do this, but it's not like you leave me a choice, but whoever you are you dont deserve it.'
Leo says to Cinn as he expects her to hear while she destroys the kingdom of Dion just by crying.
Leo is preparing for something, he collects all his strength and waits for the moment. The moment,
when the last tissue of the last tendon of muscle in the twisted grip of his sword gets cut.
As soon as that happens,
'I am sorry.'
With tears in his eyes and blood coming from his ears and mouth, he pushes through with all his strength, intending to go through and cut Cinn's palm in symmetrical halves.
The sword cuts through, the pitch of the scream gets higher, and even the amount of pain Leo's experiencing exceeds human limits, he screams so loud he looses his voice in that split second.
While inside his heart for reasons even unknown to him, he says,
'I am sorry.'
