Familiar

"Slate, you look pale." Jax suddenly commented.

"Huh? Ah," I stuttered putting my hands to my face.

"Had those dreams again?" He asked.

Jax has been my friend for ages. Thinking how he knows so much about me kind of scares me sometimes. With that I looked at him accusingly.

"Yaa! Are you reading my mind again? I said don't ever use your course on me!" I yelled crossing my arms upfront.

He smirked and completely turned his body to face me.

We are currently walking towards my building to attend a lecture I don't even have any interest into. As nice as this guy is, he offered to walk me here to sip another kind of tea about how shitty my life has been currently.

"Silly. You're too transparent that using my knowledge about it insults me," he teases.

I slammed him my bag and gave him a ridiculous look.

"You're too conceited for your own good! Get the fuck away!" I bantered as I continued slamming my bag to his body.

Gosh. This fucking jerk really knows how to get on my nerves.

The jerk just continued laughing and started walking towards his building.

"Hey, hag! Call me once you're done! I'll drive you home!" He yelled.

I just waved my hand at him and started going to my class.

Today's been a rough day for me. Not because of the bombarded activities that was just given by our professors but just how I manage them all, finishing them as fast as I can even though we still have a week before it reaches the deadline. I have been making myself busy because I want to disregard whatever it is that's been hammering my chest since I woke up.

I have felt similar emotions back then but this one just hit me differently. The more I think about it, the more it hammers.

Fuck! I need to get a hold of myself. It's not like it's my first time dreaming about some random guy.

.

.

Or is it?

"Ms. Smith!"

A sudden yell made me snap back to reality.

"Ye....yes, Mrs. Evans?" I stuttered.

"Are you out of the States, already? Did your mind went beyond the waters? Huh? Huh? In what distance did your mind travelled?" she sarcastically asked.

"Ahh," Fuck. I don't know what to say! What is this class again, anyway!

I looked upfront and saw a math problem. Oh, calculus.

"Uhm, what was your question again, Mrs?" I asked still embarrassed.

"I said tell me what technique are we going to use to easily solve the integration of the problem!" She screamed.

Gosh! Does this woman think I'm deaf or something. We're just literally a meter apart. Nitpicking bitc..

"You have to use the integration of exponential and hyperbolic functions, Mrs. Evans particularly the d/dx of secant hu which is equal to negative sec hu tan hu dy/dx," I replied.

The woman keened her eyes and looked at me from head to foot.

"Excellent. Take your seat," she suddenly said not tearing up her stare which made me awkward.

This woman!

After class...

"G, gym?" Jax asked after sipping his frappe.

We are currently in Starbucks waiting for some interesting thing to happen. Everything's just been so pure that sipping your coffee should at least excite you at certain point.

"Eh, too tired for it." I lamely answered.

"I drove you to school. I ordered for us when we had our lunch. I drove you again here. Which part made you tired?" He enumerated keening his eyes.

I definitely don't feel any exhaust in my body. It's just that do you ever feel tired for just being tired every time?

What the fuck am I even saying.

"Argh! Don't annoy me Jackson! I've done so much shit today! I can't even lift a finger because of it," I replied.

This guy should buy this excuse. I don't want to burn some shit in my body right now especially that my dad just arrived from Spain. I have to do everything that I can to rest up for now given that he will just shit talk me once he sees me later.

Arghh. What a day. I pushed myself to my seat even more to stress the fact that I'm not going anywhere. Besides, once I'm home, I will think about that dream again. I don't even know how to calm myself if that happens again. I hate that I'm too affected with it and that...

"Slate fucking Smith!" Jax suddenly yelled. "All you did today was listen to your lecture! How did that made you tired?"

"Yaa! I also finished a lot of my assessments! Don't you disrega..." Then he cut me off.

"Those were just easy for you! You can even finish the activities up for the whole year in just a day!" He sliced his cake, grabbed the portion and pointed it at me.

"Fucking see this? What that was is just a piece of cake for you!" He argued as he ate that portion whole while rolling his eyes on me.

Did this ass just rolled his fucking eyes on me?

"Yaaaa! I'm going to claw your ey," before I could even finish my words he grabbed my arm and made our way out of the shop.

"Let go of my arm, idiot! Yes, yes! I'll fucking go just let my arm go! Stupid!" I yelled.

"You, choosing the hard way instead of the easy one is still a mystery to me. Tsk tsk."

How dare this ass.

Before I could even rebut, some random person hit my right shoulder making me fall.

"Shit. I'm sorry, miss. Are you hurt?" The random guy asked as he quickly help me to stand up.

I have been in the gym a lot and falling for situations so easy like this insults me in some fucking way. Who even is this...

"Are you okay?" He asked once again.

Who... I stared at the guy for few seconds before Jax answered for me.

"Sorry dude. Our bad. Thanks."

Jax grabbed my waist this time and started walking me to his car while asking if I'm okay while I'm still looking at the guy who made my fall.

Something about him feels so familiar especially that even when we're meters apart now, he's still on the same spot from where we converged.

I looked away scared that If I didn't, the hammerings in my chest would refuse to stop.

Something about him feels so familiar..
