Lei was dumbfounded. He just got rejected by the same woman a lot of times for the first time in his life. Well, he did get rejected before but not after he became successful in his business.
He sighed and settled against a wall crossing his arms.
"Ahh. This woman. Her husband is not here yet she does what he likes." Lei mumbled as he stared at her heels. "Does she love him that much?' His heart stung at the thought. 'I probably really fell for her, huh?' he asked himself with a smirk on her face.
"MEIMEI~" A drunk woman's voice called out loud.
Lei looked at the center of the room where the voice came from, but he couldn't see. Everyone has already gathered and surrounded the screaming woman.
"Li Xiuying." Mei approached the drunk blonde woman with crossed arms.
"Ah~ you're here, b*tch." She declared with a sneer at the corner of her lips. "You killed my dad. Sent my brother to jail. What more do you want?! You want to kill me too?" Xiuying blamed Mei for everything that happened to her. For her, Mei snatched away everything that was 'hers'.
Everyone in the room had a hard time understanding the situation. The woman every girl dreams to be like, the woman every man dreams to have, being a murder and sending her relatives to jail?
"There's no way our Meimei is like that!" a young girl yelled.
"That's true, stop the lies!" her brother supported his sister's words.
Most people stood up for the female getting insulted. And some agreed with Xiuying.
"You never know how someone is under the skin of perfection."
"Hmph! You can only use the money to cover up the bad deeds you have done." an old lady sighed.
'It's all because of her! I wouldn't have to get rap*d and f*cked by these men if it wasn't for her! She ruined my life, my family! I will ruin her too.' Xuiying told herself as Mei reached to her.
"I didn't kill no one. Your parents died of a heart attack. As for Li Jin. He paid for what he had done. As for you... Did you became some prostitute and wandered around to find me and blame me? Well congrats, my cousin, you found me. It's pure luck that you did but still." Mei replied with a firm tone in her voice as she clapped her hands to applaud Xiuying with a sneer on her face.
"You!.." Xiuying spoke in a trembling voice. She was speechless. What her cousin just said was just the truth. Her blame didn't even stand against her.
"If nothing, I'm going." Mei was about to walk out when the blonde woman grabbed her hand.
"What?" Mei turned back to glance, but Xuiying grabbed a glass of wine which was on a table nearby. She was about to stab Mei when she saw Mei smiling.
'How can she still smile?!' Xiuying gritted her teeth as her blood was boiling in anger.
"Hah. Childish." Mei pushed her to the ground and the glass broke on the floor as it slipped from Xiuying's hand.
"Ahh!" She groaned in pain after having a shocking fall on the ground.
"Gosh, she is so evil."
"She's blaming the daughter of the Chen family for her own family's deeds!"
"She only wanted to get on the good sides of others, acting pitiful!"
"Tsk, tsk."
Lei walked through the crowd and stepped in front of Mei.
"That is... wow." The man said with a soft smile on his face.
'Not only she is beautiful, but she is also strong.'
Mei averted her eyes towards Lei and turned around to walk out of the party.
"Ms. Chen?" A male's voice called out.
Mei turned her head to the right and saw the man she had been wait for.
She could tell it was him since he had green hair and blue eyes. His outfit was decent, a shirt with pants. He had piercings on his left ear and a silver chain around his neck.
'He looks like a gangster...' Mei thought at first glance.
"Do not judge a book by its cover." The man spoke with a cold tone on his face. It was as if he had read her mind.
For the first time in a while, Mei felt a fear. She feared going near that man. His gaze is piercing as if he will read everything inside your soul.
Mei took a deep breath and stepped towards William.
"Nice to meet you, M. William." She extended her hand for him to shake it.
William held her hand and shook it with a brief smile. "Same here, Ms. Chen."
"Wait." Lei stepped forward with a frown on his face. He was upset about how she ignored him but she would casually talk to other guys with a smile.
"What is it, Mr. Xiao?" Mei asked as she rolled her eyes. She couldn't tolerate him anymore. "I'm tired and it's getting late. So hurry up." She spoke while exalting her breath.
"Why can he meet with you, and not me?" Lei asked as he shoved away Mei's hand from William's.
William puffed into a loud laugh.
"Hahaha! Wait, what? Mr. Xiao is jealous of me?!" He asked laughing louder.
Lei glared at him coldly. "Shut up." He told him and glanced at Mei. "Hm?"
"Well. We are doing business. I don't have time to wait like you." She walked further and stopped for a moment. "But if you want to meet, meet me at 5 am tomorrow. Let's see how much you are serious." Mei turned around with a smirk on her face. After a long time, she found someone she wanted to tease. She liked to test him and his so-called love.
"Let's go, M. William."
"Alright."
Both of them exited the party hall as Lei stopped there, thinking.
"A test. Well, at least I got the chance." Lei mumbled.
"How dare she!..." Yixuan was standing and watching the scene all along. "A simple employee of the CHin's and she thinks she can steal MY LEI'ER?! Never!" She mumbled in anger as she clenched her hands. "I need to find a way for them to stay away. He can't meet her tomorrow."
Yixuan hurriedly hugged Lei from behind.
Lei was caught by surprise and turned around.
"Get off," Lei ordered as he pulled away her hand wrapped around his neck.
"No, stay with me." She spoke seductively. She slid her hands on his chest as she was about to kiss him.
Lei frowned and pushed her away.
"Don't touch me. It's disgusting! You're like a sister to me!" He yelled as he exited the party as well.
"I don't care what you think of me, Lei'er. But you're mine. Only mine." She angrily whispered as she watched the man she wanted to marry since little leaving get behind.
