Chapter 40

Reality arrived in the form of an attention-seeking pooch.

"Ignore him," Chris whispered.

And she wanted to. She really did. After the unexpected pleasure Chris had given, she knew he ached. Inexperience didn't mean she was stupid when it came to men and their needs.

However, the dog wouldn't allow himself to be ignored.

"Woof. Woof. Woof." Did she hear censorship in his tone?

What have I done? What happened to waiting for marriage?

But this is Chris. The man I love.

A man who'd rejected her once before because they couldn't have sex. Was this his way of circumventing the whole marriage deal? After all, Lucifer had absolved him of his promise. They didn't have to wed. Not unless they both wanted it.

But if she pleasured him now, would he even have a reason to want to stick around? Or were those just pretty words?
