"Girl, what was with that landing?" asked Dawn to Cathy as they exited the plane at SFO. "I thought for sure we were going into the water."
"Yeah, I know," answered Cathy. "I noticed that the first time I came to San Francisco."
The pilgrims rented a brand-new Ford Fairlane 3000 and drove towards their hotel. Claire had booked them into the Palace Hotel at Market and New Montgomery streets. The luxury hotel was built in 1875, which meant it didn't exist in 1849 but had a central location within the city.
The girls shared a room and enjoyed the luxury.
"I love being here in this city," said Cathy. "There's so much history here. My parents said that we could vacation here a couple of days if we're successful on our pilgrimage. What would you like to see here?"
