Cathy lost her balance and fell to the sidewalk as the ground began to shake violently. She wished Dawn was with her so they could transport away. Pieces of debris and bricks from the buildings began to fall all around her. She got up and tried to run for cover, but fell again, ripping her jeans and skinning her knee. She cried in pain.
"DAWN!" she screamed loudly.
A well-dressed man came bounding down the street. He attempted to help Cathy up, but seeing it was taking too long, he picked her up in his strong arms and began running down Haight Street until he came to a clearing. The shaking had lasted about ten seconds but had paused while the man ran.
"This should be a safe place," he said as he gently set Cathy down. "There's nothing to fall on us here in this vacant lot."
