Chapter 14

A bone-rattling roar drowned out Neivayka’s petrified scream just moments before the creature charged them, the ground shaking under its powerful stride.

The overwhelming urge to run shoved Neivayka to her feet then sent her headlong into the darkened forest with no regard for anything except leaving the insanity of this world behind.

Every shadow seemed to move and jump at her, trying to grab her. The fear of those invisible hands spurred her to run harder and faster. She ran until it felt as if her heart and lungs were going to explode, and her legs wouldn’t carry her any further. She fell to her knees next to a large oak tree huffing and puffing, trying to stop the little dots that were floating through her vision threatening to take her down into the dark.
