Chapter 37

A familiar roar ripped through the air brought everyone to their feet. The roaring echoed again, bouncing off buildings and sliding through the empty spaces making its origins indistinguishable. Chaos erupted through the village. The women screamed and grabbed their children to get them to safety. The men shouted to each other and demanded action.

“ENOUGH!!!” a voice rang out, breaking through the chaos.

Everyone stopped and looked towards the large table at the head of the gathering. Fenril was standing towering like a giant above everyone. Nesha’s gasp drew Neivayka’s attention to her. Nesha’s face had paled to the point it was near translucent, and if Neivayka didn’t know better, she would think Nesha was frightened. But she did know better.

“What?” Neivayka asked.

Nesha shook her head and silenced her. “Later.”

Fenril’s dark eyes reflected the moonlight as he spoke.
