Chapter 42

“Oh, I know I will! Who is she?!” Neivayka demanded. “Where can I find her?”

“You know who she is, Neivayka,” Iola replied cryptically. “You have heard many times. You just refuse to listen.”

Everything Iola had said slammed into her, and she realized that Iola was right; she did know. She just had refused to believe the obvious even when it was shoved at her.

“You are…” Neivayka breathed out. “No… you can’t be... Are you?”

Tears gathered in Iola’s eyes and fell down her face unheeded. Rain clouds suddenly blocked the sun and let loose a steady gentle drizzle blending into the tears. Iola opened her mouth to respond, but her voice was not working. Instead, she just nodded.

Knees weak, Neivayka stumbled backward and landed in a chair that appeared out of nowhere.

“What?? Why?? How??” Neivayka gasped.
