Chapter 97

“What’s going on?” Theo whispered to her.

“My Sight… for some stupid reason, it chose this moment to kick in,” Neivayka whispered.

“What did you see?” Theo asked.

“The two men at that table in front of us… they are druager,” Neivayka whispered.

“Are you sure?” Shantane asked, peeking over her shoulder at them.

Neivayka knew Shantane couldn’t see the true form of the men; that sight was only for her. Neivayka looked back at the two men that were now staring at her like she was their lunch. She knew in an instant that they were aware of who and what she was. Worse, she saw one of the emaciated skeleton faces crack a smile and knew that they had no intention of leaving well enough alone.

Neivayka turned back to her friends and put her hands on the table. She began to draw the moisture from the wood to prepare herself for what was to come.

“They are not going to let us go without a fight,” Neivayka told the others.
