Chapter 50

I set back and grabbed her arm. “Julia, it’s okay.”

She jerked out of my hand and sat back taking a few deep breaths. “I’m sorry. You just don’t understand.”

“No, you’re right I don’t and I’m sorry.”

She nodded and we both seemed to decide simultaneously to leave it alone. For her peace of mind and mine, I let it drop and allowed the silence in the room to engulf us. There was much more I wanted to tell her, but I was terrified of her mind blowing up. An image of her head exploding passed through my mind and decided that maybe I should save some for tomorrow. A short while later we rounded up the children and left to go to the cafeteria.

Benjamin joined us about dinner time with no comment on where he had been or what he had been doing, however, he was quieter than normal; a fact that worried me greatly, but short of beating him I knew I wouldn’t get any answers.
