Chapter 52

I stroll into the back of the Bowery warehouse where my men have Paulino secured to a metal chair. He sees me approach, and his gaze fills with confusion, but he puts on a brave face.

Two of the last five shipments of arms we received were hit in transport. That was two shipments that we were unable to deliver on time to our Irish friends. O'Neill was understanding, but his patience is running thin, and so is mine. Only a few trusted people knew the time and destination of those shipments. One of whom was Paulino. One hit could have been a coincidence, but two? It's a setup. Never in a million years would I have thought Pauly would be so foolish. I've known him since we were kids, and I was there when he married his high school sweetheart, Leesa.
