CHAPTER SIX

Blessing opened the door of her apartment, walking in, she closed the door behind her and threw her bag on the chair, her living room was large, accommodating, a full set of blue chairs, plasma television hanging on the wall, a crystal clear box that housed a yellow colored python and wall murals beautifying the room more.

She walked towards the box, while taking off her heels as she walked on. She slid the lid of the box open and watched as the python found its way out.

"You have a really odd taste for pets" the voice came behind her.

Startled, Blessing turned around in fright and saw Jade leaning by the wall, beside the door.

"I should have really got used to this stuff you do, please don't do that again" Blessing said catching her breath.

"I need your help, you might have heard about the mafia clashes and probably you know what they are after" Jade said and walked to Blessing.

"I am a solo journalist and blogger, things like that don't go past me, I dug and dug and what I found will interest you" Blessing replied and ran towards the dining table and flipped her laptop on it open.

Jade smiled at the optimistic behavior her friend was putting on, Blessing was the type who really got happy, when someone ask about her research and especially if one was interested in it, she could go miles to show everything she has accomplished on what it was.

"There is something called Lucy Rhyme" Blessing said smiling, while waiting for her laptop to fully boot.

"Lucifer's rhyme, I know about it and about the powers it gives" Jade added

"But do you know that, that book contains 5 lyrics, each capable of tremendous powers once it can be deciphered, since it was written in some sort of ancient language, after that our mutual friend fought with the demon, that book was left behind, from my findings, it was found first by a mere church worker, who couldn't read the words, but holding it alone gave him some powers, which he used in getting revenge on a rich person who once cheated him" Blessing said to catch her breath and the same moment tapped the enter key on her laptop

"Hmm" Jade responded getting really interested in what Blessing was saying.

"Unfortunately for him, he ended up dying and the book with him, the other man got a hold of it, and like that the hunt began, that book has 5 different lyrics, like I said earlier, one for Domination, second for Wisdom, third for strength, fourth for Submission, fifth and sixth I don't know, I paid almost a million for this piece of information" she said as she opened a folder on her laptop.

"At present do you know which mafia group has the book?" Jade asked calmly.

"Yes, Bitter Brothers, those ones dealing with local drug stores"

"Can you get me a location?"

"I really can't help out on that really, but their recent movement has been around the sea port and back to their base, I have scores to settle with them so I have been on their tail for a while" Blessing replied and turned around to look at Jade only to meet emptiness.

"I really hate it when she does that" Blessing said and dropped her head in disappointment

The drizzling of rain brought along chilled breeze that made the silence of the night stand out, steadily getting stronger and adjusting the uneven rhymes it made on the rooftop of buildings. A white SUV jeep drove into an abandoned wide warehouse at the sea port.

Waiting were three other SUV jeeps parked side by side, with their full headlight on. The white SUV jeep parked right in front of the three others, also with its full headlights on. The car flashed its headlights twice and the front door of the car came open first, the guard that alighted moved towards the back door and pulled it open, his rifle hanging gallantly on his shoulder.

A lanky man alighted the owner's corner, dressed in a plain ash shirt and black trousers.

The others from the waiting cars also alighted each having four guards to themselves.

"What took you so long?" the fat man who stood at the middle asked, with a frown on his face, his snort nose bringing out the malice look on his face.

"Tsk, you know how business and being extra careful is, one slight mistake and all is gone wrong" the lanky man replied with a smile "So what do we have here?"

"My acquaintances, from the right Shawl, own the largest underground cartel in the northern part of the country, and to my left Richard, he has the money" the fat man said, introducing the huge man on the right and the short man on the left.

"I see, so shall we begin the auction, what I have here today is something of total mystery, lets say a gift left behind from the last demon that the human angel fought with at Lagos, some few weeks backward" The man said and signaled to one of this guard.

The guard nodded his head and walked towards the booth of the car and returned with a black briefcase, standing next to his boss, he flipped the case open revealing Lucifer's Rhyme.

"This is the real deal, from the lord of the underground himself, it is written in ancient languages, which is nearly impossible for human to translate, but laying your hands on this book gives you some reasonable amount of power" the man said with a bright smile "The starting bid is a little some of 300 million" He added and stretched his hands sideways.

"If you think that stuff is the real deal, then why do you bother selling it? Shouldn't that set you above the chain" the short man, Richard asked curiously.

The man lowered his head and scoffed

"You see you have a point, but I don't have any plan of leaving this behind"

"Bloody traitor" Shawl shouted and brought out a pistol from beneath his clothe and cocked it, aiming at the man.

At this all guards got alert and made their guns ready, each armed to the teeth.

"You see gentleeeeemmmeeenn... I would love to avoid as much blood shed as possible, the mystery about this book, is with each human blood spilled on it, a paragraph of the book is being translated and I have all translation, killing you would only be waste of human part" the man said and suddenly his eyes brought out flames.

On seeing this, both guards and boss opened fire immediately on the man, shooting out every single bullets in their guns, which in return let out smoke in the air. The fumes slowly died down, the guards still taking aim, incase things didn't go as expected, but everyone keeping their distance.

The white SUV was filled with bullet holes, the windscreen completely shattered.

"You see" The man said from the midst of the fumes and walked to the front of the car "I warned you"
