Chapter 50 - The Cannibal's Camp

Vicky and Helen were taking out the guards at the camp one at a time. They did not want to attack the camp head on, due to the large number of cannibals. Eventually, they ran out of guards to assassinate from the shadows.

Vicky approached the cages. The team noticed her coming towards them.

"Icicle!" Aiden whispered. Vicky put her finger on her mouth, to tell him to be quiet.

Vicky quietly picked the lock to the cages, Helen was behind her.

"I think I heard something," Helen whispered. Vicky looked at Helen. Vicky had unlocked the captain, and Mia's cage.

Two cannibals were walking towards the cages. Everyone hid, wherever they could. Once the guards were close enough, Helen and Vicky assassinated them quietly. They unlocked all the cages. As they were about to sneak out, a cannibal blew a loud horn.

"What was that?" Mia asked.

"That's an intruder alert. They must have found out that we snuck into the camp," Helen replied.

"And who are you again?" the captain asked.

"I am Princess Helen, daughter of Queen Agnes, and heir to the Kingdom of Queen Agnes," Helen replied. The captain turned to Vicky.

"She's an NPC," Vicky replied.

Cannibals ran towards the cages, boxing the team in. Vicky, Mia and Helen were ready to fight, with their weapons drawn out. Most of the other members of the team did not have much melee weapons. Almost all of them carried guns, and only a tactical knife.

"Why don't we have any weapons here?" Aiden asked.

"Because this game is built differently. The only weapons are melee weapons, and other old weapons," Vicky replied.

The cannibals charged at the team, from all the sides. The tactical knives were not effective at all in the fight. Vicky had to use her boomerang to aid other members. The armour of the cannibals were very strong, making it difficult for even swords to pierce through.

Mia had an advantage with her war hammer, as it was a sturdy weapon, and cracked the armour on the cannibals. Despite the disadvantage, the team defeated the cannibals.

A large roar was heard from the forest. It was so fierce, that it definitely was not an animal the team had encountered before.

"We need to go now. Those are Verawtaurus, trust me, you don't want to fight them," Helen said.

"Verawta- what?" Mia asked.

"A Verawtaurus. They are large beasts that cannibals use in war," Helen replied. She led the team out of the camp, safely.

They kept following Helen, and eventually arrived at a river. The water was sparkling, from the reflection of the moon. The fish in the river glowed, as they swam.

"Wow!" Mia exclaimed.

"What are those?" Sarah asked, in awe.

"Those are fish. They glow in the night, and eat the plants on the river bed," Helen replied.

"Looks like they're normal fish," Aiden said. He put his hand in the water, to touch a glowing red fish. The fish came closer to his hand, and opened its large mouth, to swallow his hand. Aiden screamed and pulled his hand back, falling back on the river bank.

"Hasn't your parents taught you not to touch everything that looks pretty? They might bite," Mia said, making a biting gesture with her mouth.

"Just don't touch anything," the captain replied.

"Where to now?" Connor asked, looking at the captain.

"We need to get weapons first. We can't go anywhere without preparing ourselves for war," the captain responded.

"Don't you guys carry anything in your inventory?" Mia asked.

"There is a sword and shield in your inventory," Helen replied. The team checked their inventory, and found a sword and shield, and a bow, with a few arrows.

"Looks like we're all ready. We should keep moving," Vicky said, as she turned to Helen.

"Wait! We're not trusting another NPC. We followed one, and got captured by those guys," Connor said.

"What NPC?" Vicky asked.

"Her name was Elisa," Mia replied.

"Helen, who's Elisa?" Vicky asked, turning to Helen.

"Elisa is the daughter of the leader of the cannibals. She will be the new leader, once her father passes on," Helen replied.

"How does she know the answers to your questions?" Colton asked.

"She probably has a set of words programmed into her. Once someone uses those words, she knows how to reply," Vicky replied.

"Let's keep moving. We don't want to get captured again," the captain said, as he walked a bit further down the river bank.

"We shall now begin the quest for the enchanted weapon. Follow me," Helen said, taking the lead. The team followed her, they walked along the river bank, and crossed the river at a bridge.

"Who were those guys back there?" Aiden asked.

"They are known as the Cannibals. This is the name of their tribe. They are not actual cannibals. They have the best armour in the world, but it cannot be removed from them. They connect their armour to their bodies," Helen replied, as they walked away from the river.

"What are the other dangers we should be aware of?" the captain asked.

"I suggest staying away from anyone and anything you don't know. This world is full of all sorts of dangers," Helen replied.

They walked towards a cliff. Below the cliff, in the distance was a large kingdom. The team walked to the cliff, and watched the kingdom. There was a large army camped out of the kingdom.

"That's the Kingdom of Nefarius. The army camped outside belongs to King Gunther," Helen said.

"How does he have a large enough army to attack two kingdoms at the same time?" Vicky asked.

"This army does not only consist of his army. His subjects are aiding him take over the kingdoms that defy justice," Helen replied.

"Defy justice?" Miles asked.

"The Kingdom of Nefarius, and The Kingdom of Queen Agnes are the only kingdoms left that doesn't have a proper justice system," Helen replied.

"We're working with the bad guys?" Miles asked.

"Everyone had their story. I was one of the bad guys too, right? Until you guys actually got to know me," Vicky replied.

"Aren't we all bad guys anyway?" Mia asked.

"We need to help the Kingdom of Nefarius defeat King Gunther's army. If they get a hold of all the so-called criminals, King Gunther will hang them after he judges them," Helen said.

"They probably deserve to be hanged, if he says so," Miles said.

"Nothing is as black and white as you think it is," Connor replied.

"Follow me. Let's get into the kingdom, and see how we can help them," Helen said. She walked away from the cliff, and waited for the team to follow her.

"Are we going to help the bad guys?" Miles asked, turning to the captain.

"I say we go down there, and get a proper explanation of what's going on here," Kane said.

"I'm with Kane on this one," Sarah said.

"Colton?" the captain asked.

"I say we go down there too," Colton replied.

"I'm down to check it out," Vicky said.

"I'm down to get into a war," Mia said.

"Well. Looks like everyone wants to go check it out," the captain said, looking at Miles.

"Fine. Let's go then," Miles said.

The team followed Helen, who used a secret passage to get into the city. The citizens in the kingdom were not friendly faces. Everyone looked suspiciously at the team. Helen led them to the castle.

"We need to meet with the king," Helen said, talking to one of the men at the castle entrance.

"And why would I let you into the castle?" the man asked. He did not look like a castle guard.

"I am Princess Helen, from the Kingdom of Queen Agnes. I have come with the chosen one," Helen said.

"You don't look like no princess to me," the man replied. The group had no choice, but to walk away from the entrance.

"We need to find a way into the castle. The king is my friend, we can't let his kingdom fall," Helen said.

"Looks like it's subjects don't care if the kingdom falls or not," Mia replied.

"Princess Helen!" a male voice said from a distance. Helen turned towards the side, the voice came from.

"Colby!" Helen said. A man dressed in full armour, rode up on a white, elegant horse. He was accompanied by knights, and foot soldiers.

"What are you doing here?" Colby asked, getting off of his horse.

"My kingdom fell to the hands of King Gunther," Helen replied.

"And the queen?" Colby asked.

"Mother told me to leave with the chosen one," Helen said, pointing to Vicky.

"The chosen one?" Colby asked, turning his gaze to Vicky.

"Yes. I am aiding her in completing the quest of the enchanted weapon," Helen replied.

"Where are my manners? I am King Colby, the king of The Kingdom of Nefarius," Colby said, and continued "Please follow me to my castle."

Colby led the team into the castle, where he sat on the throne, and ordered food to be served to his guests.
