The first day of life

Time passed by. John kept on using his powers for helping others. Though he wasn't getting any credit for it he was happy and satisfied.

One night they were all having dinner. Mr Vincent was looking a little sad.

"What happened Dad? You look sad."

Mr Vincent was lost in his thoughts.

"Dad. Dad. Dad!!!!!", John shouted.

Mr Vincent was startled.

"Uh-umm. I couldn't watch my favourite show today due to a bad internet connection."

After John finished eating. He got up. He looked towards his dad. He saw his dad's hand was slowly disappearing. His eyes were left wide open.

"Dad!!! Yo-your hand....."

"What are you talking about John?", said Mrs Vincent.

"My hand? What happened to my hand?".

Mr Vincent lifted his hand. His hand was normal.

John was shocked. He ran towards his room. While running towards his room his leg slipped. He fell from the stairs. Though his life was at stake time didn't pause. His mom and dad suddenly stood up from their dining chair and ran towards John when they saw him fall. He hit his head. His vision started blurring. He slowly started losing consciousness.

Everything blacked out in front of him.

His eyes slowly opened. He found himself lying on the ground. As he looked around he saw tall trees. He stood up slowly. His body was weak. He couldn't process what was going on. He slowly moved forward towards the sound of vehicles coming a little far from the forest. As he walked he remembered he fell from the stairs. He began wondering how did he end up here. Shortly after he got out of the forest, he saw his city.

Though he was sure it was his city it looked a little different.

John walked towards his home. As he walked through the road he figured out something was wrong. Most of the buildings, he was pretty familiar with were missing. He quickly ran towards his home. There seem to be comparatively fewer people on the streets. When he reached his home, he found out even his house looked different but he recognised it. When he went inside his house compound he found out that the house was locked.

He went towards the road. He saw Mrs Rockbell there though she looked pretty young. It didn't take him long enough to realize he was in the past.

'That's Mrs Rockbell. She is young. My house looks different. The city looks and feels different. Am I in the past?'

'I have to confirm it.' He approached Mrs Rockbell and asked.

"Do you know where my parents went? Their house is locked."

"Parents? Who are you? I don't recognize you."

'She doesn't recognize me. Does this mean I am in the past? Maybe it is the time before I was born.'

"Umm. I think they went with Mr Vincent. Do you know where Mr David Vincent is?"

"He is at the hospital with his wife. Today Mrs Sarah Vincent gave birth to a child.

'What?'

"Can you tell me which hospital is it?"

"Huh. It's New York Middle City Hospital."

'Today is the day I was born. Today is the first day of my life.'

He ran towards the hospital. After reaching the hospital he asked the receptionist.

"Excuse me. Can you tell me in which room Sarah Vincent is?"

"Umm. Let me see........ She is at

..room no 51"

"Thanks."

He ran towards the hospital room. He stood in front of the room. He didn't want to go inside. Not because he didn't want to alter the time but because he was too afraid. He listened from outside. He could hear the cry of a small child.

"What should we name him?", Sarah Vincent asked.

"What about John?"

"I was thinking the same.", said Mrs Vincent with a surprised voice.

John with his eyes a bit watery murmured, "Welcome to the world, John.".

He went outside of the hospital. He wondered if he came to past because of his power. He was happy to witness the day of his life once again. But he couldn't stay at that time forever. He had to go to his original timeline.

He went towards the forest hoping he would find some way to return back to his time. He reached the exact same place where he opened his eye but he found no way to go back to his time.

Suddenly he heard a voice from behind.

"Oh if it isn't the main reason for 'Hunt for Pica Mission', Mr John Vincent."

"What are you saying? Who are you? How do you know me?", John replied hastily? He was panicking.

"I won't be able to answer if you ask so many questions once. Well, to be exact. I am here to kill you"

John paused the time as soon as he heard those words. Everything paused.

Suddenly, the mysterious man started talking.

"Do you think you can pause the like of us? A mere human like you who just happened to get the powers we originally had. It is the fault of that bastard Pica."

John repeatedly tried to pause the time and he paused the time every single time. But he was unable to pause that mysterious man.

"You will die on the same day you were born", the mysterious man started laughing hysterically.
