THE WISDOM OF THE GODS

Finally, The gods has descended in mortal body wearing away immortality but still full of spirituality and divinity .

"Ikenna" as the mortal god is called, may have been born through a natural/physical way but no doubt metaphysical in nature. He possesses the kind of powers that are way beyond physical. Where the philosophers knowledge of metaphysics ends, is the beginning of ikenna's knowledge, that is to say that ikenna's wisdom is mystery to mortal men even the philosophers.

The divine child has been sent to Eze Ebube to guild him with the wisdom of the gods in passing verdict to every case of precedent as king and Nobel judge of Umunkata. Eze Ebube's desire for true justice led to the asking and bring forth of Ikenna.

Ikenna was hated by many, a great number of villagers consider him an evil child that killed his mother. Most mothers have warned their children not to associate with him to them he possess an evil power and is capable of initiating their children into his demonic kingdom.

The royal household did not have a different view from the rest of the villagers as they are equally of the opinion that he killed the queen Egondu and has also casted a spell on their father the king that the king loves and adore him beyond every member of the royal household.

Eze Ebube doesn't only love Ikenna but he reverence him as god. The king knowing fully that he is an incarnation of his chi has never for one day fail to accord him reverence as his chi. He would go to his room first thing in the morning and last thing before he retire for the day.

Ikenna on the other hand being a superhuman and haven seen that the heart of the king is pure and that he is an upright man, was committed to being not only the spiritual guard of the royal household but of the entire Umunkata, notwithstanding the view of many about him because he knew they are only humans and therefore thinks and act as human. Ikenna is not just a human being and as such does not sleep at night, he uses the night

to picture the next days activity and would relate to his father the king every morning as he come to reverence him.

One faithful morning, Eze Ebube had gone to reverence his chi(Ikenna). And while he was still showering him with praises Ikenna interrupted "Oh! Mighty and upright king, a case of two brothers will come to you much later in the day, you must judge with great wisdom for the spirit of a dead is interested in that case"

Then Eze Ebube replied, "the wisdom of a man is foolishness before the gods, my chi guild me with the wisdom of the gods on the right judgment on this matter, for I am only but a mare mortal". Then Ikenna started to tell him about the two brothers (Uche and Ebuka)and what has transpired in their family. The father of these brothers Mazi Obi had difficulty in child birth with his wife they waited on the gods for ages without a child then Mazi Obi took a second wife. The second wife conceived and that same month the first wife conceived too. The second wife gave birth to a female child and the first wife gave birth to a son(Uche). The two women lived happily with their husband.

The trouble started when the second wife conceived again after twenty years and gave birth to a son (Ebuka). Uche became engulfed in greed and bitterness. He hated Ebuka his brother so much because he was already enjoying being the sole heir to Mazi Obi's wealth.

His bitterness lead him to killing of their father. He killed Mazi Obi and took over all his property since his only brother was still a child. Ebuka's mother did not complain because of the love and peace the family is enjoying, everyone agreed that he should be in charge of their father's properties till his brother is of age. Now Ebuka is of age and has asked for his one share of their father's property and his half brother Uche has refused to give him claiming that their father Mazi Obi on his sick bed handed all his property to him as his first son.

Since the dead can not speak, who will speak for for Mazi Obi?
