The Tempest

Recap: Kai meets his new family which consists of his father, mother, and little sister. They have dinner and talk about their day, Kai's dad tells him that he would need to meet the tempest soon and gave him a few spellbooks to practice magic, which he does. He goes to meet the tempest, who examines him and is shocked by his incredible potential

The tempest stepped back, shocked. "Is there something wrong, sir? "Kai asked, feigning ignorance. "Are you the secret lovechild of a noble son? "the tempest asked, baffled. "People say I resemble my dad, so probably not, "Kai said, holding back a giggle looking at the tempest's expression. "Well, your mana levels are off the charts! You could probably take on a fully trained B rank wizard with relative ease," The Tempest declared, impressed. Kai widened his eyes, pretending to be shocked "Wow really?". "I must report this to the king at once, come with me child "the tempest grabbed his staff and gestured Kai to follow him.

They walked outside the temple. "Hey driver, take us to the capital," the tempest said, tossing him a heavy-looking pouch, presumably full of gold. The hooded driver silently tucked the money in his back pocket and started the cart.

In the middle of the journey, the cart man stopped the cart. "What happened?" Kai asked him as the tempest idly fiddled with his staff, lost in thought.

Suddenly, the cart man turned around and thrust a dripping green blade in the tempest's direction. Kai saw the knife and deflected it with a blast of wind magic. The cart man looked at him shocked "That was an A-level attack? How could a small fry like you deflect that? "The cart man asked, shocked. "Oh, I'm much more than a small fry. "Kai grinned as he summoned a ball of fire in one hand and water in the other.

"You've gotten lucky this time, Tempest! "yelled the assassin "Sleep with an eye open, for we will always lie in the shadows, "he finished as he turned around to run away.

"Oh, I don't think so," the tempest said calmly as he shot a burst a dark energy at the assassin, killing him instantly.

"Wow! what kind of magic is that? "Kai asked. "Forbidden magic, only the greatest magicians of the empire know how to use it. "The tempest glanced at him, "But looks like you'll learn it in no time"

"Well, the driver's gone, so how are we going to reach the capital?" Kai asked, looking at the unmoving corpse of the assassin. "Well, I could just teleport us there," shrugged the tempest.

Kai stared at him blankly for a few seconds. "What?" The tempest asked. "If we could teleport there, why did we get on the cart in the first place? "Kai asked, confused. "Well, to be honest, I already knew that he was an assassin. I just wanted to assess your combat skills ""How were they? "Kai asked, curious. "Your reflexes are good, but the fact that you cam dual wield elements makes this much more interesting, "The tempest continued "You're stronger than I expected ". The tempest extended his hand to him "You'll feel weird for a second but don't panic too much". Kai took his hand and closed his eyes, bracing himself. "Hey, open your eyes, "the tempest said, leaving his hand. Kai opened his eyes and gasped. He was in the middle of an orchard. He looked around awestricken and saw trees laden with golden mangoes and apples that looked like they were made of rubies. The tempest smiled warmly at him "Do you like what you see? This is the royal orchard, he's rather fond of gardening ". "I could probably buy a house with one of these apples," remarked Kai, as he observed the garden. "Don't pick any fruits though, the king doesn't even let his children take fruits from here, now follow me". The tempest walked up the staircase, Kai following behind.

As they approached, the king's court Kai was met with glares from the guards. 'Well, children are probably not that common in these parts,' Kai thought to himself as he walked on. They finally reached the Massive doors to the court. The tempest pushed the doors aside with relative ease and bowed to the king. Kai, following his lead, also bowed down to the King. "Rise. "The king's authoritative voice boomed."Jacques, what brings you here at this time? And who is the boy?" the king asked. "My Liege, I have come to you to request that this boy be trained in the palace by your best wizards in this palace. ""That is an interesting request? Why this boy in particular?" The king asked, scratching his short beard. "His current mana level is on par with a rank B wizard, and he was able to thwart the advances of an arcane level assassin " "An assassin? Were you attacked? " The king asked, raising an eyebrow. "Yes, my liege, this child defeated him relatively easily. With enough training, he could become one of the greatest sorcerers our kingdom has ever seen!" The tempest said, bowing once again.

"Well, if you say so." said the king "Give him and his family rooms, I'll have Jean test his abilities later this week", the king looked at Kai "you must be weary, have some dinner and go to sleep, your family will brought here soon "he said in a calming voice. "You both may leave now, "The king finished as he leaned back on to his throne.

They both bowed and left the king's court. "I think I'll skip dinner," Kai said shakily. The tempest laughed, "Dont worry he likes you, he just appears intimidating." They continued to walk until they reached a room marked 'for esteemed guests'. "Make yourself comfortable. One of the maids will wake you up tomorrow. Sleep well "The tempest winked as he closed the door behind him.

Kai looked around. It was a lavish room with a shelf full of spell books 'well, that's something to read when I'm bored' Kai thought to himself as he collapsed on the bed from exhaustion, falling asleep instantly.
