An Ant Monster

"You understand what is happening, right?" Matt asked.

"I know. Now, let's hide." Ashton replied, and this time he tightly held onto Matt as he coldly looked at him.

His eyes were clearly saying that he wanted to hear yes.

Matt nodded his head as he whispered, "First, look for anything sharp. We have knives in our room. You need to find them. Take whatever you think can be used as a weapon."

Ashton nodded his head as they crawled on the roof.

Looking for the knives wasn't difficult as they were together with other kitchen stuff.

Ashton went back to the hole which he had created. Got back inside the room and easily found the knives. But taking them out wasn't easy.

He could see the knives but it was impossible to pull them out with his giant body.

The hole was just too small, his hand couldn't reach there, so he whispered, "Matty! I-Its impossible to pull them out. My hand can't reach them. But I will get them, Matty! I will surely get them!! Don't worry!!!"

Matt speechlessly looked at the moron who was whispering and trying every way to get ahold of the knives while laying on small debris.

He just rubbed his head in annoyance and kicked him hard.

Ashton turned back and looked at Matt pitifully.

"Get out." Matt whispery yelled.

Ashton just nodded his head like a good kid and got out.

Matt hurriedly went in and with his small body easily got hold of both knives and brought them out.

Giving one to Ashton and keeping the other one.

"Now let's go," Matt whispered.

Ashton nodded as he slowly walked towards the stairs. If they want to get out of here, then the only way was downstairs.

Ashton slowly descended the stairs as Matt followed him from behind.

Both holding knives.

Tightly.

Ashton raised his hand and gave the stop signal. Then like a spy, he checked the corridor.

Every floor had ten rooms. Five on the right, five on the left, and in the middle, there was a corridor.

The stairs were in the left corner. From the corner, Ashton stared and found the corridor empty.

Again, he waved his hand, which meant it was good to go.

Matt grabbed Ashton from behind as he whispered, "Check every room. We can't have dead people coming from behind us while we are going downstairs. If you find any monster, just kill it. Do not hesitate. It's us or them. Understand?"

Ashton hurriedly nodded his head as he showed his thumbs up and walked towards the nearest room.

Matt just shook his head in annoyance and followed Ashton from behind patiently.

Ashton took a deep breath as he tried to open the first room's door and found it locked.

Matt just nodded his head as they went towards the second room, and again it was locked from inside.

They checked six rooms and continuously found them locked up but the seventh door opened with a click.

Ashton looked behind and gulped, nodded his head towards Matt, and slowly opened it.

Silence.

Nothing happened as they both entered the room. The hall was empty. There were no humans, dead or alive, nor monsters.

But Ashton still didn't lose his vigilance as he raised his hand and told Matt to stop.

He slowly went towards one of the rooms, opened it as lightly as he could, entered it, and again found it empty.

Ashton heaved a sigh of relief, wiped the sweat off of his forehead, and shook his head towards Matt.

Then he checked the second room and also found it empty.

"It's empty. There is no one here. Let's check the next one." Ashton whispered.

"FOOL! Check if there is any weapon or not. Guns, baseball bats, knives, anything that can be used." Matt whispered, while Ashton

just smiled nervously as he nodded his head.

They both hurriedly checked the whole house but only found different kinds of knives, a golf stick, and one spiked brass knuckle.

Ashton wore the spiked brass knuckle on his left hand and held the knife with his right hand, he was ready to go to the next room.

Matt weighed all the knives and picked two mid-size.

They were heavy but felt just right in his hand. He used silver tape to bind the knives with his hand not to let them fall no matter what.

Ashton nodded and also did the same with his knife.

Then they followed and tried to open the next room, and it was also closed. After that, all the rooms on the tenth floor were closed.

They descended to the ninth floor, checked the whole floor, and found two rooms open, but again there was nothing worth taking.

But everything changed when they opened the fourth room on the eighth floor.

Ashton, with a click, opened the door as silently as he could but became stunned when he entered it and saw an ant chewing the human hand.

The ant stared at Ashton, and Ashton stared back.

They both just stood silently as they looked at each other.

The ant was red, bloody red. It had two long antennae, brown eyes, two curved fangs, six legs, and was three feet long.

"SHREKKKKKKK." And then with a loud screech, the ant ran towards Ashton.

Its long antennae moved, its curved fangs twitched, ready to bite and tear. It ran with two legs while its other four legs were ready to fight and eat Ashton.

Ashton without thinking leaped forward and with his whole power kicked harshly with his right leg, it hit right at the ant's abdomen, and with a thud it flew and fell onto the floor, rolled three times, and only then did it stop.

Matt saw this scene when he entered the room. It all happened within a second. And he froze.

His mind went blank.

He couldn't think of anything.

He never saw such a disgusting big ant. Being a nine-year-old kid, it was already a big surprise that he didn't scream, ran, and pissed his pants off.
