27–a slightly deeper longing

What had he been expecting? More, unfortunately, perhaps even a conversation or an explanation. What had he been expecting? Theo. Her lying warmly right beside him with her pretty eyes looking up at him and anything besides an empty bed and the flat so quiet around him. Some part of him, selfish as it was, had been awaiting an apology or at least an explanation and he hated that more than anything.

Had he explained himself when he had decided to go hide out at Casper's? No. Theo had no clue as to why he had just decided to leave her by herself and no matter how hard he tried to justify it he had been awful. So why then would she have to apologize or explain herself? What was he turning into? Fern buried his face into his pillow, its sides clenched within tightened fists, knuckles white, and screamed until he could swear his lungs ached.
