Inquiry

After defeating army of demons, I returned to castle. Currently, I was in my room sitting on the couch thinking what to do next.

"Alas! That demon army was just a show. None of them was capable of surviving such a puny attack." I sighed.

KNOCK KNOCK

I heard knock on the door.

"Yes?" There was a butler.

"Mr. Allan, lunch is ready. please head to the dining room, his majesty and others are waiting for you."

"Alright, I'll be there."

I get up and head to the dining room.

I was sitting on the dining table having my lunch with King, queen, Laren and Lucia. Neulon, Leon and Nerisa were also standing near them.

The atmosphere here was awkward since they were not even eating but just starring at me.

𝘏𝘦𝘺! 𝘋𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘶𝘺𝘴 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘐𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 𝘴𝘰 𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦.

"Don't you all think that it would be better if you eat when food is hot." Since they were not saying anything I thought of breaking the silence.

"... We don't have appetite, don't mind us please enjoy yourself." Laren said.

"I see."

"Ahem... Sir Allan, I was thinking to hold a banquet I the name of the victory bought by you to kingdom... What do you think of it?" King siad with a gentle smile.

"In my eyes, it's unnecessary."

"Huh? Unnecessary? But why? I want to celebrate the honour you did by protecting our kingdom. Why do you think it's unnecessary?"

"Well, it's not like that I am opposing you to do it... It's just, wasn't such a big deal. I don't think that you should do something like this to honour me for such a small help... And it's not like I do anything that requires too much effort. Else you are free to do whatever you want, a outsider like me have no right to oppose you anyway."

"Such a modest man you are Sir Allan. You don't know how much you have helped us. Well then, we are going to organise a banquet tomorrow night. Please come."

"Okay, if that's what you want then thank you for your humble invitation." I smiled.

"Oh no, please don't. We are doing this all for you so you're the most important person there."

"Thank you. Well then, I'll take-?"

"Mr. Allan, I want to talk to you, can I?" Laren interrupted before I can leave.

I glanced at Lucia who was looking around the room here and there all the time. Just as our eyes met, she give me a small nod.

"...Ha-ah" I sighed.

"Ok, speak it, but keep things short. I'm pretty exhausted you know." I put my hand on my other shoulder and rotated my arm, showing that my body is stiff.

"I want to ask that... are you a believer?" Laren asked me with a straight, serious face.

Everybody in the room seems to be shocked by what he just asked or, rather they know what he his plotting. Everyone's face become stiff.

𝘏𝘮𝘮... 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦.

"... Sorry, but I don't understand why would you ask such thing out of nowhere now." I stared him.

"Not this again. Mr. Allan, you know better then anyone that pretending to be dumb wouldn't help you out. You're just wasting your and everyone's time."

"..." I didn't say anything just keep on staring him. He stared me in return.

"Brother, enough is enough! Do you know what you are saying?! Do you really think that Allan would know about it? You're are just lowering yourself and us. You just-?!"

"Lucia, can you please keep quite. I am discussing something important with Mr. Allan." Laren stir Lucia. She remain silent but spoke up again.

"Discussing something important?! You are just making fun of us in front of him. You don't have any sense-!"

"If you're asking me whether I believe in existence of Gods then I will say it loud and clear!" I cutted Lucia in between. She was just making the mood worse so that was necessary.

"In this world, I don't think that anyone is there who believe in existence of gods or superior being as much as I do..."

"I see, so you're a believer. Then-."

"I didn't say that I'm a believer. I just said that I do believe that gods exists."

"Sorry, but I didn't get it."

"Well it's not my fault that you are not capable of understanding it."

"You! How dare you to bad-mouth prince-"

"Calm down Neulon." Neulon shouted at me as he took a step forward only to be stopped by king.

"Mr. Laren, I can't understand why you are helping us. From what I have seen so far, with your strength, I think you are more than capable of wiping out an entire nation from the face of Celis."

"Is there any reason for one to help someone... What is 'help'? To do something for somebody in order to be useful or to make something easier for one... When you lend a hand to help someone, do you do it with an alter-motives? No! That's what is meant by helping someone."

"Seriously, I do respect you wisdom and way of thinking Mr. Allan, more than I do to anyone. But, we don't know who are you? What's your origin? What's the factor of such powers you possess? I can't help, but thinking about it... Can you enlighten us?"

"My apologise, but I can't tell you those things."

Allan said.

"What!? Are you defying me?! Do you even know what you're saying?" My brother replied in anger.

"Brother, don't you think you're been a bit rude to Allan. You know that-!"

Suddenly a chill run down my spine. Everyone in the room were also same. We all sensed a dangerous, killing intents.

I turned to brother only to found him cold sweeting. I turned to Allan.

He was imitating a furious aura. Table was shaking, so was chandelier above us.

There was no doubt that my brother's word angered Allan.

𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘥! 𝘞𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬 𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘰𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥.

"Do you know what you're saying? Are you threating me?" Allan's eyes were full of bloodlust.

𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘮 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯.

"Allan, my brother doesn't-?"

"Sir Allan, I apologize on the behalf of my son. Please forgive his rudeness, he offended you. I beg you for showing some mercy on us."

𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯?! 𝘋𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦? 𝘈𝘮 𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘸?!

Before I could finish my father spoke up in between. He standup and bow to Allan. Everyone in the room, except Allan, were shocked by my father's act.

It's rare to see a king of a kingdom to bow to someone.

"... Father?" Brother muttered.

Allan get up from his seat and walked to my father. He putted his hand on his shoulder and smiled.

"Please don't act like that. You are a king of an entire kingdom, it's inappropriate for you to bow in front of someone. Please raise your head."

"Thank you for your kindness, Sir Allan."

"Mr. Allan, I am really sorry for offending you." My brother bowed.

"It's alright, it's my fault. I lost my cool."

𝘏𝘮𝘱𝘩, 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦.

I just released a bit of my aura and everyone in the room become so scared and what surprised me was that king even bow to me of his son's behalf. They know that it'll be no good if they angered me.

"Mr. Allan, sorry for forcing you. I was just curious about you noble strength. If you're not willing to tell us then it's not fine but can you atleast tell us how did you defeat the whole demon army on your own. What was that massive ray of light we saw?"

"Please don't take it personally, I can't tell you about those things because of my privacy. But since you are insisting, I can tell how I success fully defeated whole demon army."

I saw a spark in Laren's eyes.

𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘯, 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘦?!

I took a deep breath and said.

"I used an artifact." I lied.

"An artifact?"

"Yeah, a high-level magic artifact."

"Would you mind showing it to us?"

"Alas. It was a powerful artifact that can be only used once. It destroyed after the use so I throw it."

"What?! You used such a precious artifact for us. Even though you can use it once, you used it for our sack."

"Hey, I just used it to protect myself. I am also in the Royal Capital. If demon army take over the capital, I'll be in trouble too. And I was also curious to see what that artifact was capable of."

"I-I see, but still-."

"I think we are done here, dear Prince. I don't have any energy to keep this up. We can left else for other day, can't we?" I smiled.

Now I am getting more and more interested in them. This surely going to be entertaining but for now, I think I should leave or it will be more bothersome.

"...I-I understand, sorry for showing you such an unpleasant sight."

"It's alright. I can understand why you're getting so much hyperactive, After all..." I exited the room after saying something that will make them even more restless...
