Chapter 59 Turmoil

RB Chapter 59 Turmoil

"I see that even the normal people are being attacked. Did something go wrong or are you intent on wiping out the entire population?" The number of the ants shocked him, but since they were weak, he didn't truly care.

A few citizens were in the midst of fighting the ants and even some were being killed and carried off.

"Shit! That woman must have gone bonkers!" Chloe exclaimed.

"What are you looking for?" Eric asked when he saw her looking around.

She spotted something and picked up the pace. Eric saw what she was walking towards. It was a motorcycle. It had fallen to the side of the road and blood stains were on the ground near it. Its owner must not have survived.

She straightened it and revved up the engine.

Eric who had been monitoring the surroundings was beaconed over.

'Let's go! We need to hurry up and see the elder. If am not mistaken, he's all the way to the west side of the city." Eric sat down.

"I will drive, you fight. But will you be okay with...ummm..." She gave his missing arm a glance. She was worried that he was sensitive about it so she tried to be subtle. Of course a new one could be created by regrowing a few of your cells, 3d printing, and then reattaching the arm.

"Don't worry, there is no way having only one arm will slow me down." He said nonchalantly.

She started the motorbike and headed southwards.

"Why do you have that scar, I am pretty sure you can heal it, right?" She asked without turning her back.

"You truly are inquisitive. That's a sensitive question." That was all he answered and kept quiet.

Chloe didn't pursue that and continued staring at the front.

When they left the area near the Njovu clan, the ants attacking the people dwindled to nothing. It looks like only the area around the clan was being affected.

When Eric tried to look over Chloe's shoulder, he grimaced and hurriedly withdrew it. He touched his scar. Beads of sweat had formed on his forehead in that little time before being blown away by the wind and rain.

The wind and rain had collided with his face and his scar had throbbed with pain. The wound wasn't truly sealed and a little blood appeared in the scar. It threatened to split apart once again.

'I need to get stronger for it to truly heal.' He sighed as he held back from screaming due to the pain.

It was good thing that Chloe was facing in front, after all she would have pestered him a barrage of questions if she had seen it.

The motorbike drove along the ring road and they passed by other clans which were under attack. It wasn't just the ten, but also their supporters, the little clans depending on them.

As they were passing by the main building of one of the ten, a humanoid ant was thrown out of the window with its plummeting direction being directly in the path they were going to pass through.

It righted itself in midair with its front facing downwards. It poised its four sharp limbs to strike.

"Take care of it." Chloe's voice came from the front.

Eric raised his eyes and looked up at the falling ant his arm was still cradling his scar.

When it was about only a few centimeters away from them, one of its limbs, poised to sever Chloe's head, he acted!

The eyes within his sockets narrowed and widened abruptly triggering an invisible energy wave which he directed directly upwards.

The moment it passed through the beast, its limbs slackened and he used his left hand to hit all its parts which were within reach causing it to fall sideways.

"Is it dead?" Chloe's voice came from the front

"No, just unconscious." He answered.

'What was that energy wave? It caused shivers in my spine!' Chloe didn't continue asking but was instead mulling over another question.

The boy seemed to not have great control of the wave, but he had tried to direct it upwards. It had grazed a little of her head causing her eyes to blur for a split second!

Such power shouldn't be had by a teenage boy!

Eric once again had to move his hand over the scar to shield it from the wind. At the speed they were travelling, the wind and rain was lethal! It was like pebbles striking skin!

As the motorbike passed the building, a large sound drew both of their attentions. It was coming from the side of the building away from the road.

They looked up behind themselves only to see that a massive crack had appeared in the wall above.

"What could be happening?" Eric wondered out loud.

"That must be the clan leader of that particular clan having a go at it with one of our experts."

"Oh! It looks like I underestimated your association! Then you must have ten experts capable of taking on each of the clan leaders, right?" Eric asked.

"You will be surprised once you know the full power of our organisation!" A note of smugness could be picked up in her voice.

'If they have such power, then it could be 50-50. If some of the ten clans are working with them, then the odds tilt in their favour.' He looked at her back through his fingers. His dark blue eyes became a bit deeper.

'It looks like I will also need to have an organisation backing me. The Masanyalaze clan would have been ideal, but now that its collapsing, I will need to join a new one or create mine.' He sank into deep thought.

The rest of the journey went by peacefully and quietly even though they occasionally ran into battles, they weren't attacked because the ants were busy chasing after the others.

When they reached the southern part of the city, Eric snapped out of his daze. The Masanyalaze clan building was coming up.

"Is there anyone you particularly want to see?" Eric asked in a loud voice.

"No, you?"

"Yes! I want you to drop me off at the clan building."

"Whom do you want to save?" She asked.

"Lisa." A painful feeling appeared in his chest when he uttered the name.

'How am I going to tell her that Baguma and Elec are never coming back? Should I just pass by and come back later?'

As he was in thought, he caught sight of the building and his hesitation jumped out the window.

The reason was that there were many humanoid ants scaling the outer part of the clan headquarters.

'I need to save her!' That thought took root and spread throughout his body.

"Speed up!" He shouted. He couldn't let her die too, or else he didn't know how he would be able to apologise to the two men when he eventually went into the underworld to meet them!

"Give me energy capsules!" He shouted.

"Don't order me around! I am not your servant!" She complained but still she passed three energy capsules behind to him.

He didn't wait and simply swallowed all three causing energy to rage around in his body. He hurriedly concentrated and absorbed it into all his cells at the fastest speed possible.

"Jump!" Once he heard that voice, he didn't hesitate to use the feet holds at the sides of the bike as points to jump off!

Chloe had done the same, causing the bike to crash into one of the ants which had just climbed out of a hole in the pavement.

The motorcycle blew up and destroyed the ant. Eric rolled across the ground to get rid if the momentum. She had passed an electrical charge into the fuel tank!

"More are coming!" He shouted while his eyes were looking closely at the ground. All of them had taken on a red hue for an instant before reverting back to dark blue.

Multiple holes were littered along the side of the clan headquarters and multiple ants were surging out of them.

He didn't even ask Chloe why she had decided to stay here instead of simply dropping him off and continuing towards the west. He took off running towards the building at the fastest speed possible.

"Shit!" Chloe cursed before chasing after him. She had also popped a few capsules in her mouth. Only people who had mastered energy channeling were capable of popping multiple capsules.

'The elevator will be slow.' Eric judged. There were countless windows shattering and ants invading the building through them.

Eric pushed energy into his legs and leaped! The ground beneath his feet had cracked as it couldn't handle the force of his legs.

He rose up until his body reached the third floor. Black scales spawned on his skin to cover his entire body and he spread his fingers, puncturing through the chest of one of the ants which had been climbing in one blow!

He didn't stop at all and as it fell, he kicked off it to rise further and when his upward momentum started to slow down, he punctured a hole through the glass and entered. With a tumble across the floor, he landed safely.

People were screaming and fighting the ants. Some were being devoured while others were killing them. That was the scene that entered his eyes when he regained his bearing!
