Chapter 141 Unexpected Start!

RB Chapter 141 Unexpected Start!

January 03, 2200.

The time was 1:27pm. Elder Muti had been seating under the tree casually chatting with his surbodinates while waiting for news from the Council back in Cairo.

A long car had made its way out of the city gate and was parked behind the tree. It was a mobile command center, which was capable of synchronising with the main theater of operations back in Cairo.

"Elder! Something has happened! Its urgent! Hurry!" A man with glasses and disheveled hair came out from the trailer and shouted in a panic. Exhaustion could be seen deep in his eyes, but right now the prominent expression in his face was one of panic.

The elder didn't dare delay! He, and his followers turned into blurs appearing in front of the door to the trailer in an instant!

"Get out of the way then and allow us to enter." The elder shouted at the man. He had been so shocked by their speed that he almost had a heart attack.

He didn't dally and hurriedly entered the trailer which contained all sorts of screens, both virtual and material.

"Many places have reported the sighting of beast tides and the federation is in the middle of providing support!" The man explained as he sat down and tapped at his screen, bringing up multiple images on the screens around them. The elder and his followers had drastic changes in expression upon seeing the images.

"Oy! Aren't those scorpions?" Ntenume was so shocked that even his calm demeanor collapsed.

"What happened? Did the beasts manage to intercept our information?" Kiwuka asked, her mouth hanging wide open.

"What about Kampala city? Is it in any danger? Is a beast tide coming?" The elder asked the crucial question, his eyes almost boring holes in the glasses man.

"No, we are lucky. But the problem, is that the air force is going to be occupied, so we might not be able to ask for reinforcement from them." The man said. He wasn't alone in the trailer. There were as many as 20 other people.

[Urgent! All cities, Move Out!]

A message appeared on all the screens at this time causing more changes in expression.

"It isn't yet time!" Bunyogovu became bewildered. The time was currently just 1:31pm.

"After seeing this, and you think we still have time!? What if our city is also about to be besieged?" Elder Muti shouted before running out of the trailer at his fastest speed. His followers were shocked as this was the first time they had seen him this ruffled.

"Kiwuka! Order your ants to move out!" The elder left behind that sentence.

Kiwuka didn't dally and unleashed a sound wave the moment she stepped out of the vehicle.

-----

"Hmmm!?" Eric, who had been lying down on Chloe's thighs enjoying their softness felt something, causing him to sit up. He wasn't the only one, even the people in the clearing had felt it. They simultaneously turned their gazes in the direction of the ants and found out that they had left a trail of dust as they vanished into the distance.

'What happened? The time hasn't yet...' Eric moved his gaze to his patch and saw that it was 1:31pm.

Murmurs spread among the crowd as they also noticed the abnormality.

"The war has started! Wait for further orders!" Elder Muti only appeared on the platform and briefly declared before turning into a blur and once again appearing in the trailer.

"It seems like something serous has happened!" Eric frowned. He had become more and more certain! Elder Muti's followers had already vanished.

"Our time to act hasn't yet arrived. We will probably be notified later." Chloe said.

"Should we go back into the city, or stay here?" Leah asked.

"We should stay here."

"Energy channellers, multiple camps are going to be constructed all over the city gates and by nightfall, they will be completed. Missions will he issued in these camps and you will then act as you please." Bunyogovu had appeared on the platform and was explaining to all the gathered people.

The closed city gates opened at this time and white cars, with large tires as tall as a human and multiple glass like balls embedded in the white metal chassis drove out of the city.

They headed to the wilderness the moment they came out. It was an entire convoy consisting of ten.

-----

The time is 1:42pm and in the central part of Africa, there is a city. It had brown walls, blending in with the sand around it. The desert was all that could be seen for miles around it. It had been built around an oasis.

Currently, the entire city was in turmoil with people running around everywhere. But the faces of the people didn't show any panic. They were calmly doing some tasks.

Along the city wall, many people were standing, staring out into the desert. Multiple gun like contraptions had been placed along the city wall and many people were standing near them managing them. The gun like contraptions has a single cable connecting them with the city wall.

"Is everything going smoothly?" A middle aged man, with tanned skin, wearing a brown sleeveless shortly asked. Muscles could faintly be seen through his clothes.

"Yes, Sir!" A secretary, also in the same brown shirt answered. They were also wearing black pants. If you looked closely, you could see that all the people on the wall were dressed the same, whether man or woman.

"What's the ETA of the bed of scorpions?" The mayor asked. (ETA; Estimated Time of Arrival)

"6 minutes, sir." The man answered.

"These things caught us offguard. How did they intercept our communications?" The man wondered out loud. His voice alone was loud.

"Sir, the Federation has given us a notification. One minute from now, a ground bombardment is going to take place to reduce the numbers." The man who had been beside him had been staring at a holographic screen. He yelled out excitedly upon reading the notification.

"That's good! But, we are also prepared. Nests of scorpions have been ravaging our city with tides every once in a while, so we aren't newbies." The man was elated.

"Should I have chosen a city located in a wetland or something? The heat's killing me!" Someone complained on the other side of the mayor. He stood out from the rest if the crowd as he was dressed in a white suit. He had brown hair, almost bordering on golden and his brown eyes were being shielded by his palm as he tried to gaze far off into the horizon.

"Michael, who told you to wear a suit on this weather? This attire is also not suited to the present situation!" The mayor shouted.

"Does it matter what I wear? Anyway, I have to look good wherever I go. I can't be as shabby as you, now can I?" Michael grinned upon turning his face to the mayor.

"Are all spectrum warriors as crazy as you?" The mayor sighed.

"My friend, there is no need to feel down, you are the one who's crazy, what I am, is classy!" Michael patted the man in the shoulder with a look of pity.

The secretary almost laughed, but he hurriedly covered his mouth and pretended to look elsewhere upon receiving a glance from the mayor.

"Can you sense anything?" The mayor's voice took on a serious note.

"They are too far away! My domain can only sense them when they are just 5 meters away." Michael also answered seriously.

A black line appeared far off in the western horizon as they were standing atop the wall.

"Judging by the scale of the scorpions, there must be one. I have already relayed that information to the African federation. Anyway, I will wait for it to show itself, before acting. I will disguise myself as a normal energy channeller for the time being." Michael said, before walking a bit further back and settling in a chair with an umbrella for shade.

"I hope its only one..." The mayor muttered quietly to himself.

Boom!

The sound of air exploding was heard from the north eastern direction attracting the mayor's attention.

"It seems Cairo Super city has sent out its own air force." The mayor muttered. Michael had closed his eyes and seemed to be resting.

Something whooshed above the city before explosions were seen from the direction of the black line.

"Men! All of you get prepared! This is going to be a long battle!" The mayor shouted. He was an energy channeller. He had led the city for over 20 years and had managed to lead it to ward off multiple scorpion tides. Gazes of respect were directed towards him from the people on the wall.

In the horizon, as the explosions created multiple craters and destroyed tens of thousands of scorpions, they didn't pause at all in their movement. They were heading towards the city with the large ones acting as the leaders. The bombs did nothing to deter them from their goal!
